I’m gonna start this review by saying that I am a very picky person. Now that you know that. Upon entering the salon it was a very busy atmosphere. People everywhere doing something. I was greeted by the lady at the desk she asked me what I wanted(wash and blow) and we proceeded from there. I went to the back to get my wash and told the girl I had my shampoo conditioner and deep conditioner. She proceeds to put her own shampoo in my hair. And when I said something she got an attitude and started speaking spainsh. She then used my shampoo and conditioner, but when it came to the deep conditioner and put it in and washed it right out(therefore I’m not paying for that) then she proceeded to put me under the dryer. Now I have a pixie cut and you should know if you go under the dryer and then get your hair blown out, the heat from the blow dryer is the worst pain ever. Anyhow, I get to the chair and another lady starts to blow out my hair and I’m wincing and owwwing and everything. It hurt like hell. And upon leaving the shampoo girl tried to argue me down about the deep conditioning process… However the only reason they got 3 stars is because I actually like the way my hair came out after all the pain.

This an excellent salon, I like the fact I don’t have to wait to get hair washed, only staying under dryer ½ to 45min tops, prices resonable, and love the fact they always electric flat iron every time after they blow dry cause not all salons do that it makes a big difference. Because, my hair is a dry curl after it is washed, so I have to get a light perm every 6 months, but a lot of hair dressers believe blow drying Is all that’s needed, that’s not true, once you go outside it puffs up, but flat iron let’s it stay flat & straight for over a week. So for That every time I walk out I look like I came out of a salon supposed to a hair dresser, unlike the last place I used to go to CHARRO&FRIENDSONFARMERSANDLINDEN, they never flat iron so it was a hit or miss when I left sometimes my hair would be puffed right away.

For me, Hair Flare is a great place to be! They work diligently and quickly, which is beneficial because I hate salons that you are literally in there all day. They always condition my hair to make it feel extra soft. I have shorter hair so dry time is less and, even though that additional blow dry is sometimes a little bothersome, I appreciate Linda and all of the stylists there. And the price is what really keeps me coming back! She styles my short do effortlessly and maintains the look with routine cuts and shape ups and I’ve never spent more than $ 60 on my hair. That maybe«too cheap» for some, but in this cash strapped economy, I don’t want to forego all of my luxuries because of my priorities. With Hair Flare, I don’t have to make those decisions because she is within my budget! I’m a fan and I will continue to go!

Every black person who knows anything about their hair knows that after you get a protein treatment, a moisturizing treatment is a must. Today, the stylist was telling me all I needed was the protein. I tried to explain why the moisture was mandatory but she was being so stubborn. I bring my own treatments to the salon. So she did as I asked but why did I have to argue with her. Looks like someone needs hair education. From now on I guess it’ll just be a wash and set when I come here… smh. Some of u may ask, why would I go back. Because they get you in and out, my hair looks beautiful when I leave, and the prices are reasonable.

Went for the first time after passing it pretty much everyday traveling to and from work and wanting to find a salon closer to home. It started off well, I was greeted and serviced immediately which was great for a sunny Saturday afternoon. The lady washing my hair was very nice but a little harsh. Not a big deal though. After she set my hair in rollers and put me to dry under the BLAZiNG hot dryer I was sent to the lady with the very short and messy red hair who did the actual styling. Here’s where they would get 0 stars if possible. She was unbelievably rough and burned me constantly with the blow dryer. No joke, I had scabs on BOTH ears. She wasn’t even trying to be cautious as if she didn’t have a heated hair appliance in her hand. Then she asked me how I wanted my hair and I told her just straight nothing fancy and she does her own thing anyway! It came out so messy and it was«parted» on the side like a 3-year old did it! She did some pin-up curls then took them out she attempted to do some bouncy crap after I said I wanted my hair STRAIGHT and it was just all over the place. After taking out the pins she didn’t even brush my hair and says«Me think you done.» I looked at her like she cannot be serious. I looked like i just rolled out of bed honestly. I asked her to just brush my hair because I was NOT gonna ask her again to STRAIGHTEN it as I had asked and she says«Oh you don’t like it bouncy?» No, I like it how I told you to do it and how I’m paying you to do it — fucking STRAIGHT! That’s another thing, my hair is long but $ 35 would be for like if it was down to my ass and its only about a few inches past my shoulders. I’ve NEVER paid more than $ 25 for a wash and set. I MIGHT and that’s a BIGMIGHT go back for another wash and set and see how another stylist does it because I refuse to let that woman come near my hair again and also because of the geographic convenience but I would have to be feeling insanely lazy and possibly slightly under the influence of. something. The Best Salon(yes, it’s really called«The Best») on Sutphin Blvd. and 89th ave. right across the street from the courthouse has been my go-to place for years and they have yet to disappoint me.

Just got back from my first, but definitely not the last, experience with Hair Flair. Wash, conditioning and wrap –in and out in an hour! This place gets it. Unlike the 2 other salons I’ve tried since moving to Queens, they understand that not everyone wants to spend the entire day in a salon. The service was quick but not rushed at all. Upon arrival I was greeted with a smile, lead to the back to get a smock and over to the shampoo chair. They have a system and it works. On top of that, I paid HALF of what I paid at the other 2 salons and my boyfriend said my hair looks better. I tried to support the black salons but after spending 3 and 4 hours there vs. 1 hour @ Hair Flair, I will definitely be a loyal returning customer!
