QM21 MTA BUS

I live in Springfield Gardens, which is right next to Rochdale Village. Although I’ve used the X63 more often than I’ve used the QM21, I actually live closer to the QM21.
I’ve only used the QM21 in the evenings. It is fairly reliable. It used to be operated by the now-​defunct Jamaica Buses. Then, the MTA took over and raised the fares. Once the MTA raised the fares, ridership took a nosedive and the MTA subsequently reduced service.
The QM21 currently runs every half hour. I hope that the MTA doesn’t eliminate this route. The alternatives aren’t impressive: you can pay for an overpriced monthly LIRR ticket or you can take the Q85/​111/​113 to that cesspool known as Jamaica Center and then cram onto the E train.
I enjoy the comfortable seats and the one seat ride to and from Midtown without having to deal with rats, panhandlers, or rowdy high school kids. I don’t enjoy the fact that the bus runs once every half hour and it doesn’t run on weekends (minus 1 star). The LIRR has a City Ticket on weekends which costs $ 4 to travel from Locust Manor to Penn Station, though some parts of Rochdale Village are a long walk to the station.

I rode the QM21 bus yesterday, and overall I had a good experience. I borded at 57^th st and 3^rd ave. The Bus was approximately 10 mins late wich is not outrageous considering the unpredictability of NYC traffic.
The bottom line is this bus gets you from rochdale to midtown In About an hour. Depending on where you need to be in Manhattan, the LIRR can be faster and certainly more comfortable but even during off peak time the LIRR is more expensive. The QM21 express bus is $ 6 and of corse you get a transfer if you need to take train as well. Just keep in mind this bus runs mon-​friday only. Based on value and efficiency the QM21 bus is my preferred method to get to Manhattan and earns 4 stars.

This bus is a great way to get to the East Side on Midtown Manhattan from this part of SE Queens.
Takes a little longer than the LIRR.
I avoid the bus subway hassles also.
Its more of a rush hour service that’s a decent supplement.
Drivers are friendly most of the time.
Your transit time can also depend on not only traffic conditions but drivers skills or knowledge of route.
I have been on buses where drivers were lost as never drove the route before and missed stops.
The buses are normally in great condition with good climate control.
I always get a seat and rarely have I had a fellow traveler besides me.
I get to spread out vs paying 950 and standing 30minutes on crowded LIRR.
Also good thing is you can transfer to train in Manhattan. If metro card used and its no additional fare deduction.
If in Manhattan and you transfer from train its an additional 350 fare.
I will be using in the future as its a relaxing commute
