At Strickland Optical we specialize in fast, personal service, having the only on-​site lens grinding laboratory in Chautauqua County. We have hundreds of new frames to choose from but we can also reuse your current frame by replacing your lenses with new prescription lenses without taking your glasses away from you. We can duplicate your present Rx into a new frame or use a new prescription from your eye doctor or optometrist. We make sunglass lenses, no-​line bifocals, trifocals, reading lenses, golf lenses, computer lenses, music lenses, fishing lenses, lenses that darken in the sun… You name it! 25 years and still growing strong!

History

Established in 1987.

Our first few years in business we catered only to other optical shops and eye doctors as a wholesale laboratory. As time passed, we missed serving people on a more personal level, and after receiving New York State licensing, we opened to the public. We relocated from our industrial location to a more retail-​friendly spot on Washington Street across from Tops Market where we are totally handicapped accessible. We even offer curbside eyeglass adjustments for those folks who find it difficult to get in and out of a car.

Meet the Business Owner

Barbara J.

Business Owner

Barbara is both owner and optician at Strickland Optical. Forty two years of experience, licensed in Arizona, Nevada and New York, Barbara and husband, Steve Strickland are past recipients of the Jamestown Small Business Person of the Year award from the Small Business Development Center. The couple opened and managed four super optical stores in Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada in the 1980’s for parent company EyeCo which later became Lenscrafters. In 1987 they moved back to Jamestown, their hometown, in hopes of creating jobs for themselves and others. Mission accomplished!
