Meticulously manicured grounds, delightful owners, delectable home made breakfast, perfect pool with classy water slide and waterfall, awesome accommodations (we stayed in the Peacock rooms) in this Victorian style bed and breakfast where we felt at home immediately by Marianne. Attention to details and needs was spectacular. We highly recommended every aspect of Jamul Haven! We came from NJ and we will be back.

This is by far the best b&b I have stayed at. Perched in the rolling hills situated a short drive away from San Diego, Jumal Haven blessed us with relief from the hustle and bustle of life. The owners, Bill and Marianne meticulously cared for us and made sure we felt more than at home. Their home cooked breakfast blew us away every morning, and their evening desserts were the perfect end to a wonderful day. The rooms, gardens and spa area were always clean and well maintained. The house and rooms themselves perfectly emulate the ambiance and décor of a victorian era house, while still offering every modern commodity we are accustomed to. A great stay for a great price, owned by some great people.

The absolutely most perfect vacation! The views are breathtaking and the innkeepers are the nicest people you will ever meet! Food was gourmet and delicious and the perfect touch was the evening with fresh baked desserts! Can’t wait to come back!

Marianne and Bill have created something better than a bed and breakfast. It’s a step back in time. The rooms in Angel Haven are so detailed that you can’t help feeling you are staying at the home of the original owners of the house. Then you add to that the wonderful thoughtfulness of the homeowners. A pool and spa to relax in. Breakfast, coffee and conversation to start your day. A little desert at night to send you off to bed. A game room and even a disco should you want to dance your heart out.
Plus, it really was so close to San Diego that we went to the GasLamp area for dinner one night and Del Mar on another evening. But we didn’t have to stay in those packed areas. We could fall asleep with the moonlight streaming in our windows rather than street lamps.
This is definitely a place to book a night at when you need to get away from the rush of the city.

Marianne and Bill have created a truly special escape. I surprised my wife with a trip here and she was floored. The grounds are magical, woven with history, care, and attention to detail that is unrivaled. That said, the best thing about the Haven is the warmth and genuine enthusiasm of the hosts. They welcome you like family and make you feel completely at home, allowing you to relax more than is possible in a major five star resort. You will not regret staying here!

A most magical place!!! This is a beautiful bed and breakfast with lovely grounds, amazing designs and an almost endless variety of things to explore. The breakfast is fabulous, with more than we could possibly eat. I loved the special treats waiting for us every evening. It is a 5 Star bed and breakfast that we will never forget.

I cannot recommend this highly enough. I live in downtown San Diego in a very noisy apartment building with a newborn next door. I badly needed to get out of the city and go somewhere relaxing and quiet. I stayed in the Asian Room which was the perfect size for just me (although they sweetly offered to upgrade me to a vacant, larger room). The house is immaculate and the grounds are beautiful. The attention to detail is flawless (the pool area is gorgeous). The private porch off the Asian room is huge and I spent hours reading in the comfy chair out there listening to the birds. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was really luxurious. There was a tv and very good wireless internet which was great. Also, there’s a kitchen with full amenities so I could cook. The breakfast they make each morning is fantastic and there’s snacks every night left in the kitchen. The best part is there are a ton of things to do but they leave you to do your own thing, if that’s what you prefer. I would have loved to explore more and do the amazing hot tub but they could see that I needed to sleep and relax and were happy to let me do my own thing. Marianne is super sweet and Bill is very energetic and interesting and the dog is adorable. Rosalba is also SO sweet and I appreciated that she cleaned my room while I was at breakfast. I wish I was still there, frankly. Also, it’s super easy to get to from downtown SD. I had the best two nights of sleep I’ve had in months.

Jamul Haven is truly as good as it gets. My husband & I stayed here for 2 nights on our ‘mini-​moon’ in June 2014. What a great decision! We felt instantly calm & at home upon our arrival — there is beauty everywhere. The jacuzzi and pool were perfection, as was the abundant breakfast spread. We would love to experience every season & holiday @ the Haven — we cannot wait to come back. Book a stay now before the secret is out!

More of a resort destination than a B&B. Amenities include pool, game room, disco, beautiful gardens and cooked to order breakfast! The host is among the most hospitable person I’ve ever met. After three nights there I wish I could have stayed three more. Excellent in all details!
If I had to identify any negatives, all I could say is that the G# key on the antique piano in the Parlor is painfully flat :-)

We just returned from staying at Jamul Haven for a couple of nights. We have stayed at many B&B’s (both US and Europe) and this one is at the top of our list. There is so much history in the house and the grounds which only adds to the experience. The rooms, accommodations, and surrounding grounds, were fantastic which made our stay so wonderful. With that said, the best part of our stay was the feeling that Bill and Marianne (owners) provided for us. We felt like we were visiting family (in a good way). Marianne is very mothering and she makes you want for nothing. Her cooking was as good as we have ever had at a B&B.
One day we spent on the grounds but the other day we took a short ride into San Diego and strolled the Gas Lamp Quarter (downtown San Diego). It is so conveniently located for all that San Diego has to offer.
It is a terrific B&B and the comfort level was so enriching that prior to us leaving we got big hugs from both Bill and Marianne along with the wonderfully delightful staff who also reside on the property. Bart & Jackie L, Huntington Beach, CA

This place is AMAZING! The property is huge (6 acres) and there is beautiful landscaping throughout the entire property. There is a beautiful rock pool and TWO spas with a waterfall and slide! This is a perfect place to get away to. When you go in the pool/​spa all you can see is mountains and stars. And, it’s also only 20 minutes to get to downtown San Diego! There is a open pool house where breakfast is served (which is delicious) and walking paths throughout the property to enjoy the landscaping and nature. There are 4 themed rooms in the B&B, Asian, Celtic, Peacock and Rose. They are all equally cozy and cute. The house is Victorian and its amazing how detailed all the décor is. Bill and Marianne (the in-​keepers) are so sweet (and man is Marianne a great cook!!!)! There is also a gym, game room (with ping pong, pool, air hockey and Foosball), disco, bar, lounge, kitchen, and parlor. They also have a TON of DVD’s that you can rent for free! Oh, and Marianne leaves you a homemade dessert in the B&B kitchen each night! They also have packages that include dinner, roses, champagne, etc. And they have a masseuse that can come and give you a massage so you don’t even have to leave! I could go on and on… I highly recommend this place!!!

Whenever I travel for business I make a point of staying at places with character. This place is among the best I have experienced.
It is conveninetly located only 16 miles from San Diego proper. It was an easy and pleasant drive from the city.
There is so much to say about Jamul Haven it is hard to know where to start. I would qualify this place as a sort of unique resort rather than a b&b. the b&b lodging are in a stand-​alone victorian farmhouse that was extensively and meticulously renovated by the owners (Bill and Marianne). They have succeeded in turning it into an authentic 1890’s victorian mansion. No detail was overlooked. The pictures speak for themselves.
The house is for the guests and you will feel right at home. It is immaculate, clean, well appointed and comfortable. The house also has some common area to share among the 4 guest rooms. Worth noting is the glorious victorian country kitchen replete with everything you would need to feel as though you live there. This is just one example that highlights just how thoughtful Bill and Marianne are when it comes to making the guest’s experience one to remember.
The house sits on rambling grounds of canyon paradise privately situated up on a hill away from the road and neighbors. On the grounds there are many areas of interest and lots of spots for a private romantic moment with your someone special. Some of those things — Koi ponds, cascading streams, a croquet court in the making, a hen house filled with Jamul Haven hens busily worrying about your breakfast tomorrow (fresh eggs!). foot bridge, beautiful gardens and seating areas in quiet nooks,
Bill and Marianne live in a seperate house almost out of view of the b&b lodging. Between the two, a short pleasant stroll over the foot bridge is the communnal area consisting an outdoor eating and entertaining area that sits poolside. The pool is a marvel. It was carefully conceived, designed and built by Bill and he has thought of everything! Beautifully crafted with stone and mosaic tile, plenty of areas around and up the terraced cascade of walls to lay and si. And as you decide which spot is perfect for your lazy afternoon, you will appreciate that there is not one, but two jacuzzis at different spots up the terraced hillside, each affording glorious persepctives of the property and surrounding landscape. It truly is unique and very special.
But wait there’s more! The inn keepers even make part of their house available to the guests! There is a game room (Billiards, ping pong, foos ball, and air hockey) bar (byob), and. you guessed it… a DISO room kitted fully with a ceiling full of disco lights and a state of the art sound system. You know they thought of everything when there is a disco.
Breakfast is served at 9am and its hardy, fresh and delicious! it is served in teh common outdoor dining area poolside and its an utterly delightful time spent with Bill, Marianne and other guests.
Go to Jamul Haven and get ready to be charmed.

What a luxury bed and breakfast! I had a great time here, the owners’ hospitality and personality is what is the best. I loved loved loved the beautiful historic home, it is a really fantastically done renovation. We stayed in the Peacock room and it was gorgeous with a great attention to detail.
The grounds of the property are so beautifully landscaped as well. You can really tell there was a lot of love and a whole lot of effort put into this place. The pool is so much fun! There are two separate hot tubs, the pool is the perfect size and has little ledges for sunbathing in the water. The best part though? might be the waterslide. Oh my gosh it was a blast! This would be a really great space for kids, but it is romantic also for a couples getaway.
The other great thing is the breakfast! seriously what a gourmet treat. Everything was done so well, even though we were the only guests this particular day. The owners really make sure you feel special and will accommodate any request. I highly highly recommend Jamul Haven!

I’ve visited Jamul Haven three times, and each experience has been amazing. The proprietors are very nice, and they do everything they can to give you a relaxing environment.
Jamul Haven is tucked away about 20 minutes east of San Diego. You’ll stay in an old renovated Victorian-​style house, and each guest room has its own theme and personality. We’ve stayed in the Asian room each time out, but there’s something for everyone.
Your stay includes complimentary breakfasts (it’s a B&B after all), and the resort has a game room, pool and spa, gym, disco, and many other amenities.
I can’t recommend Jamul Haven strongly enough. If you’re looking for a bed and breakfast in the San Diego area, you won’t find a better option than this aptly named Haven.

My experience at Jamul Haven was just amazing to say the least. We were greeted after we arrived by Marianne who gave us a tour of the old restored Victorian house along with the grounds and the places we were able to go while we stayed there. We stayed in the Peacock room which had both a sitting room, bedroom and its own shower and bathtub. What impressed me most about the house was that it had a lived in feel. It was as if you went back in time and were visiting an old relative’s house. On our last day we had the chance to look at the other rooms and they were just as amazing. No detail has been overlooked when it came to furnishing and creating this place, and no picture can justify what you will see when you arrive.
When it was time for breakfast we were treated to first a buffet of items such as cheese, granola, yogurt, pastries, bagels, and other breads, with four different spreads to choose from. (One of them was a pumpkin spread and it was delicious.) After seating ourselves we were given a menu. During my stay I tried the Dutch pancake with blueberries, and the homemade frittata; both of which were delectably delicious. (Jamul Haven has their own chicken house so the eggs are very fresh.)
In the evening we had cookies waiting for us in the kitchen which were very tasty. Marianne and Bill are wonderful hosts and truly have a gift when it comes to creating the hospitable place. Needless to say we were sad to leave, and we had such a good time there we felt spoiled. I highly recommend this place for there is everything here you could enjoy with the good food, amazing rooms, and great hospitality.

If you take one thing from this post: This is the nicest place I’ve ever stayed. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Book your stay right now. Do it. You will be really glad you did.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Jamul Haven for our five year anniversary in September 2011. We stayed in the Celtic Room, which has an Irish theme complete with stained glass windows. It was beautiful and very close to the kitchen, which comes stocked with amenities and fresh baked midnight snacks courtesy of Marianne. There are only four rooms in the whole B&B, and we had the place all to ourselves. We had a chance to look at all the rooms before we left, and we really want to stay in the Rose Room next time.
What makes this place is how wonderful Marianne is. We didn’t get a chance to meet William, as he was out of town, but Marianne was beyond anything we could have asked for. The breakfast was gourmet (and I’m really picky, seriously). I highly recommend the Dutch Baby Pancake, the bacon, eggs (fresh from chickens on the property), and coffee. Marianne made me so many lattes… We would be swimming or laying by the pool (this place is worth it just for the pool, the most spectacular I’ve ever seen), and she would come by and offer us a coffee or smoothie. This is all included in the room rate. It’s basically like going over to your best friend’s house who happens to live in the lap of luxury with the sweetest mom of all time.
We will be back.

I had very high expectations for this place based on all the great reviews I read online and it did not let me down! The wonderful customer service starts when you pull in the drive and one of the owners greets you and takes you on a tour of the grounds. From there, you are left to take everything in and explore! There is, among other things, a beautiful kitchen where you can cook meals, a parlor, a game room (ping pong, pool, air hockey, etc.), a bar/​sitting room, a disco room, a stone pool with 2 hot tubs and water slide (during warmer months), an open air kitchen/​patio, and gardens. While we decided to make our own dinner, all the guests were prepared a gourmet breakfast by the pool in the morning. You can also pay a little extra for amenities (roses, champagne, strawberries) to be waiting in your room for you. Most of all, the place was super clean and well run. Customer service by the husband and wife was top notch. You just don’t get this kind of service at a hotel (and I’ve stayed at a lot)! All in all, a very relaxing place to kick back and enjoy the company of a significant other or friends. Highly recommended!

Can’t believe I’m the first to review this perfect, perfect, B&B!
My boyfriend and I stayed at Jamul Haven (pronounced Ham-​uhl, by the way!) early January and had the place to ourselves– and what a place it is! You enter through the enormous, gorgeous, copper-​celinged kitchen, where there are snacks and drinks and you can cook if you’d like. The house is decked up the wazoo with antiques and details, including a 600-​lb carved wood front door.
Pool and spa are landscaped into cascading waterfalls, and front a beautiful poolhouse where you can lounge, study menus for local eateries, and enjoy Marianne’s excellent breakfasts in the morning.
Although the house is stunning (and even includes the calm and friendly hound, Mama) and the breakfasts are great, the real thing that makes Jamul Haven a special experience are the hosts. Marianne and Bill have put their heart and soul into the place, and as Marianne said «you’re sleeping in my retirement!» These two very active and accomplished folks will do anything to put you at ease. We had wonderful conversations with them in the mornings and they were kind enough to suggest some great activities.
I’ve stayed in B&Bs all over the state– nothing will ever compare to the wonderful experience at Jamul Haven.
