Looks like homemade yeast buns… but seriously the wait must have been letting the buns rise. 40 minutes for a hamburger and mushroom burger. There were 4 tables and no apologies for the wait. Scarey that the sign that says please be seated on the other side says… there will be an hour wait… they must have to use that sign a lot. Maybe they get busy… but I don’t think what we paid for the food should have taken that long. If in a hurry forego or ask how long it will take before you get seated. The bun is not worth the wait. They blamed the wait on the grill cook… but apparently the cook also took 45 minutes to make the Reubens for the couple next to us.

The Hamburger store has great American traditional food we found no problem with the food, service or cleanliness of this business the onion rings were fresh and homemade as where the sweet potato fries the rolls where to die for it doesn’t try to be anything it’s not we would be happy to eat there anytime we were in the area

I have been here before and it was«ok» not the best but I remember the burger was good. So I thought I would try it again instead of going to auntie skinners … Well one girl took my drink order and then forgot … She passed my table several times smiling at me while I read my book … Never bringing the drink … The cook came out and took my order after being in there for 20 min I had no drink silverware or anything. The large table that was there when I arrived started getting their order and it was wrong and mixed up. More people are arriving and I am hot, thirsty, and hungry. I decided to leave and go to sonic where I know I can get food quick. I want to like this place it’s cool looking inside. Well I am wondering where all the $ 1 bills went that were all over the walls. Maybe they needed it to pay bills?

This place was great. When I first walked in and looked at the menu I was bummed cause I wanted to go to Aunty Skinners. We were attended to quickly and the food was great! The buns on the burger are amazing. Plus if you like pie, they have it and it’s yummy! We found our new dining place when we visit Jefferson. The staff was very nice too! Oh and the onion rings are huge. You won’t walk out still hungry.

It seems that eating here is a crap shoot… Go one time great food, the next time… inedible. Always advertising in the paper for cooks, owners very difficult to work for. The burgers seem to be your best bet, but, be prepared to send it back if not done to specifications. During slow hours you may get a patty that has been cooked a while and reheated. Have given them several chances to get a steak right, haven’t gotten an acceptable one yet. Ordered first one rare… Came to the table well done, medium well at best. Second one(different trip) ordered the same, came out well done, and had apps. 2 pounds of salt :(. Third times a charm right? Well it came out cooked right and tasty, but 4 oz. at most. Chicken fried… Can’t go wrong, right? Another salt fest, and the cream gravy was so thick and lumpy it was indistinguishable from the mashed potatoes. I honestly want to like this place, the ambiance is great. The owners just need to get on the ball and whip the staff into shape.

Was in Jefferson, TX over the New Year holiday and had to make a run from where I was staying with friends(see my Wilkes Lake review) into town cause needed some liquor… While at the liquor store asked the lady behind the counter where me and my buddy could find a big, greasy, tasty burger… she pointed us to this place so we saddled up and headed on down… Location is great right on the edge of historic downtown… restaurant itself gives off a retro divey-country kind of feel… service was great and friendly(reason they get the 2nd star)…menu says the burger is piled high with lettuce, tomato, onions & pickles, unfortunately not true… Was expecting homemade patties since it was a half pound burger… but it was one of them thin pre-formed patties so it was way more bun than burgers and toppings… not that greasy either… getting cheese kicked the price up another $ 1.59…crazy! Now they did have a smokeshow of a peanut butter chocolate pie and honestly I should a just ordered a slice of that and a glass of milk… probably would a come out cheaper and happier… All in all it was an $ 11 burger(I ordered h2o to drink so no charge for that) that wasn’t worth $ 6 Eh, I’ve had better(I’m whiffing on Burgers lately, see Red Robin review)…Dammit Jim, should a just went to Sonic…

Reading everyone else’s reviews makes me think we just came on a bad night. I ordered a chicken fried steak that came out very salty. I found 3 hairs in the steak, 1 in my lemonade, yes IN my lemonade, and one on the toast. All my friends seemed to have average to good food. I wouldnt go here again based on my experiance, but most of my friends probably would.

The hamburgers are really tasty! The buns alone are so amazing! If you’ve had those little chicken mini biscuits from chick fil a that’s what the buns taste like, only better! My only gripe is that they only had two different slices of pie. I wish they would of had more :(
