Description

History

Established in 1935.

In 1935, a local pediatrician’s wife gave birth to a child with a developmental disability. Wishing to provide for their son, Dr. Charles Bloom realized that special training would be required. He quickly discovered that there were no schools available to meet his son’s needs, and formed a nonprofit corporation.

In 1960, new brick dormitories started to sprout up on campus. Today, the main campus has four cottages (group homes) and fifteen group homes dispersed throughout the local community. There are sixteen vocational work centers, a gift shop, greenhouse, and multipurpose building on campus.

Magnolia School is heralded as one of the finest facilities of its kind in the United States, and has earned a respectable reputation in many foreign countries. It has continued to develop facilities and programs that exceed the requirement, regulations, and laws to meet the needs of adults with developmental disabilities.
