History

Established in 1988.

Tracy Weisel, a potter, moved to Jerome in 1975. In 1981 he purchased the New York Café ruin and began the long process of building Raku Gallery. The gallery opened in 1988 and is now known as one of the premier destinations in Jerome.

Raku Gallery was named such for the Zen translation of raku meaning ease, enjoyment, contentment, pleasure and happiness. Tracy and his wife Nancy «semi-retired» in September of 2011. The new owners, Kurt and Lynette Ammann have lived in the area since 2003. The gallery represents over 200 artists predominately from the Southwest. Within the spacious 2200 square foot gallery you will find an eclectic collection of fine art and crafts including paintings, ceramics, free-blown glass, jewelry, sculpture and furniture. Your senses are in for a treat.
