Mark fixed my broken exterior lighting fixture for $ 20. He also has a large inventory of antique chandeliers for sale.

This place is a little gem if you are in need of restoration or parts for old light fixtures or lamps. I’ve had old lamps rewired here and bought some spare parts for lighting fixtures I was installing. The place is more of a workshop than a store, but its filled with old parts and lamps and fixtures, and Mark, the owner, is extremely helpful.

I had some lamps bought in Europe that needed converting to work in the U.S. I called and they came and picked up the three lamps in a couple of hours. Returned the next day. The price was less than their estimate over the phone because one of the lamps didn’t require as much work as planned. Very pleased with quality and fast service.

Things seem to have gone way downhill since earlier reviews. I will never use or trust this establishment again. Be very careful before leaving a deposit. I foolishly paid for the repair in advance, and the owner then demanded additional $ to repair my lamp, and then refused to refund even a portion of my deposit. Very disappointed, and he didn’t seem to care.

Thanks to a site(jclist dot co m), I found about Mark @ Aladdin and thought I was posting the first review of his shop. Glad to find 2 other reviews. here’s mine: I reached out to him last week to get an estimate on a floor lamp that had some issues. Though Mark admits that his place looks messy — trust me, it is! -, he came across as a person who is honest and straight-forward and I had no second thoughts about leaving my lamp with him with a deposit equivalent to his estimate. So, I wasn’t very surprised that my first impression proved bang on target. :) He got it fixed soon and charged less a third of the estimate and walked me thru what was wrong and what all he did. Great job! When chatting with him, I found out that the shop was run by his dad decades ago and that he’s been running it for the last 20+ years. He is certainly an interesting and intriguing character, who speaks slowly and measuredly but still rides a motorbike that he parks right inside the old store amidst all the old and ancient bronze lamps and chandeliers and tools all over the shop. Surreal! He’s certainly the first person I am going to turn to for all stuff related to lamps and chandeliers. Note to those who want to go there: don’t get put off by the unorganized way the old shop is. Remember that it’s been in that place for more than 25+ years and he owns it. Just trust him and you’ll not be disappointed.

I found this company on google by typing«lamp repair jersey city» and after a 5 minute call, I had a repair man come to my home and fix a very heavy lamp’s foot switch(on/off). Professional, honest, knowledgeable and on time. What more could you ask for?!
