if you have a make an appointment by email feature and you don’t respond to 2 separate inquiries in 3 days… fail. Won’t even walk in the door. Who knows what other things they will drop the ball on.

horrible horrible experience. The tech is nice enough, although she got floss stuck in my teeth that was painful until I managed to remove it at home. She knew it was stuck but couldn’t remove it from my retainer. Dentist spent a very short with me, which is fine maybe if your teeth are ok, but she said I had cavities that had to be filled. You think you could spend a little time with your patient explaining what’s going on?
Morning of the appointment I get a call, the dentist is «stuck in traffic» and will be an hour late. Great. So I show up and she tells me there isn’t time to do all the cavities today. Everything made me very uncomfortable and I was so close to cancelling everything which I should have done. After getting one cavity filled I couldn’t eat because it hurt when I chewed. I finally wised up and went to a good dentist. The new dentist fixed the bite on my filling fixing the pain. When my new dentist took xrays and looked and the remaining cavity she told me she could not fill them because they were smaller than the drill size, so filling it would destroy healthy tooth. She said it would be UNETHICAL to fill them.

Staff and hygienists are great, and Dr. Paek is fantastic. I’ve been going to this office for a little over a year and a half and prefer it over the other dental offices I had tried in Jersey City.

I Unilocaled these establishment since I haven’t seen a dentist in roughly 2 years. I went to this dentist mainly off of reviews.
The staff and team of doctors went far and beyond my expectations. I came in to get X-​rays/​cleaning and I was out within 45 minutes to an hour.
Turns out I have cavities and I wasn’t able to schedule the same day, which was indeed a disappointment but I stand by these practice!

Friendly, professional staff. Hygienist and dentist were both great. I definitely recommend.

JCD is amazing! I have been a patient for 5 years and love the family oriented feel of this practice. Dr. Paek has been amazing with my regular dental work and my invisalign. The hygientist are thorough and front receptionist are always helpful, i never have to wait more than 5 minutes when I arrive so that helps in keeping to my schedule as well.

Jersey City Dental Jersey City Dental is conveniently located near the Grove Street path. I like that they have extended hours so that I can go before/​after work without taking any time off.
I’ve been a patient for the past 8 years. I am treated like family by my dentist, my technician, and the ladies at the front desk.
The practice is small but growing, and has been steadily increasing their use of new technology to improve their work (for example: 3d printing a piece of composite to incorporate in a crown repair on the spot, or showing me a digital simulation of how my teeth will look after I get invisalign, etc). They are also incorporating more technology into their service model (email and text message appointment reminders, etc).
If I’m writing a fair and balanced review, I have to mention that they’ve messed up billing once or twice. But overall, I feel like I am in talented/​competent hands, and that I never have to worry about being bamboozled.

I hadn’t been to the Dentist in a couple of years because of a bad experience. I use to go every 6 months without fail. I knew it was time to go again and came across this office on ZocDoc which had good user reviews. I wasn’t disappointed. As soon as I arrived they checked me in, told me how much my co-​pay would be and within 5 minutes I was already in the back getting my X-​rays. The technician was friendly, gentle and took the X-​rays wiht the greatest of ease. We even had a friendly conversation between takes. My dental hygienist was friendly and thorough as well. I never felt discomfort when they were cleaning or polishing my teeth. I then saw Dr. Dudoff. She was patient and detailed as she checked over everything. It was quick, painless and comprehensive. I’ve already made my next appointment before I left, and even got a free toothbrush and toothpaste upon leaving. I’m glad to have found a friendly, complete and considerate dental office once again.

I came here when I lived in Jersey City. Located conveniently by the Grove st PATH train, JC Dental is definitely professional and easy to set up an appointment with. Front office staff were friendly and pretty funny. I only waited 5 minutes for my appointment, but the dental hygienist was very rough with her prolonged cleaning. I take pretty good care of my teeth and should not have been as uncomfortable as I was. While I was doing a check-​up, the real reason for my visit was that I messed up/​chipped my tooth and wanted to make sure I didn’t throw the alignment off too much. The dental hygienist told me that she would tell the dentist to take a look at it.
However the dentist I saw was Dr. Paek, and he seemed to be in a rush to get out of there. He said nothing about the chip, and seemed surprised and annoyed when I brought it up like I was wasting his time. He also recommended me getting braces which is way overly aggressive; my teeth could be better aligned, but both my previous dentist and my current dentist laughed when I told them that he was pushing that. Frankly along with some of the comments the dental hygienist made about teeth whitening (again, unnecessary), it came off as a pure upsell. I can understand and even sympathize with that, but you want to push this on a patient on their first visit when you’ve done nothing to earned their trust? And you want to push this above their concerns? That doesn’t fly in my book. Leaving 2 stars because of the front-​office staff and because the cleaning was ultimately thorough.

I woke up this morning in excruciating pain from a severe cavity. After calling a couple of dentist, I turned to Unilocal and came upon JCD. After reading reviews, I made the call and got a fairly quick appt. I met Dr Cohen, I waited no more than 10 minutes before getting called in to be prepped and have an X-​ray. Dr Cohen came in, introduced himself and I began my litany of complaints about my pain, and how important it was for me NOT to feel a thing!
He took great care to hear me, explain the entire process, X-​ray, and how he would help me with the pain. Suffice it to say, he did an outstanding job from beginning to end.
I highly recommend Dr Cohen. Not only professional but also very aware of protocol as he changed his gloves every time he touched something before touching my mouth; he’s also a very nice guy.

Thank you Dr. Dumoff !! Today was my second time in the office. The first was last week for my consultation and cleaning. Dr. D was pleasant and took her time explaining everything that I needed done. Today I had 3 teeth extracted and she was gently and patient I honestly didn’t feel a thing.
The staff was courtesy and friendly for both of my visits. I would recommend Dr. Dumoff to anyone looking for a great dentist who has compassion, makes you smile, and talks to you with understanding.

I noticed that the good reviews are mostly from 2011 or 2012. I thought I was reading reviews of other dental office… Looks like the quality of the service has deteriorated. Definitely not all the dentists in this office takes time to take care of patients.
They sometimes make mistake in billing, maybe because they don’t check with insurance company about how much you still have in your account, so they overcharge me few times, they do give my money back when they find out, however, because of the mistake they make, I had to deal or payback to my health reimbursement account which is very annoying.
I think I really had enough, looking for other dental office now. If you want a quality service from a dentists that are willing to take his time to help you. Either ask for Dr. Dumoff or you may want to go somewhere else. This is not a place for you.

If you are getting any service done here, you probably want to TAKE A SECOND LOOK AT YOUR BILL!
For example, (this was just happened yesterday) insurance company usually covers 70−80% of a filling service depends on in network or out of network, so a patient should not pay more than $ 40 for a filling service, I am pretty sure a dental office personal should know this. But the bill we got was $ 50s, then I called to asked them, the lady said «I have no idea what you are talking about… the computer system just showed this… blah blah blah…», but then maybe because of this call, a correct amount was returned to my account. WHAT IF I DIDN’T CALL? I can’t imagine how many times this kind of situation has happened already… at least for me… three time in the past 6 months during my treatments. One time, they mis-​charged me for $ 400-​$ 500, they didn’t realize it until I check my dental insurance online bill, instead of in-​network, they charged me for out of network fee. WHAT IF I DIDN’T CALL? You guys should do better, if the system doesn’t work well, you should update your system. If other dental office can do it, you should be able to do it too.

To add one more comment about my experience, I did a filling early this year, same time with a root canal on the other tooth 21 days later, I went back to the office because the pain never went away, so the doctor suggested me to go back to check on that tooth that had filling three weeks ago. The doctor originally told me that it was a small cavity, so small that I remember he almost missed it, so I thought maybe it was just some pain from the filling, so I went in to the office, they charged my insurance company for another $ 56 for this follow up! and told me that I need to get a root canal on that tooth too, the one I had filling done 21 days ago. If that tooth was bad, then why not did root canal right away but let me pay for the filling and then root canal? If the cavities was that bad, why didn’t the doctor catch this when I had cleaning and exam a couple of months before, I brush my teeth and floss at least twice a day, even if I don’t do it very effective, will a tooth go from health to so sick that needs a rot canal in two months? If it’s because it’s too close to the nerve, why did you tell me it was a small cavity? I usually don’t hesitate to spend money on my teeth if it’s necessary. But the experience here is just not always a good one until I met Dr. Dumoff, so if you don’t mind checking your bill carefully everytime after the service or you don’t mind been charged incorrectly, and also don’t want to leave JC for dental service, ask for Dr. Dumoff. But if you don’t want to do that, you may want to go elsewhere.

This practice does not respect its patients’ time. The receptionists are extremely unprofessional. Both times I went they either failed to find my appt or alert the doctor so I waited over half an hour. They’re very clear about asking patients to be on time or else pay for late appts, and sending three reminders but the same is not true in return.

After spending most of my afternoon calling area dentists and going through some online reviews I came across Jersey City Dental. I needed an emergency extraction and the receptionist accommodated me with an 8:30 appointment the next morning. The reception staff was really friendly and even funny which helped take the edge off. I was seen by Dr. Dumoff and she had great bedside manner. She was super gentle and careful during the procedure and made sure I was completely anesthetized before beginning. I was surprised when she told me
it was all over because I was expecting the procedure to take much longer and I was also expecting to feel some pain.
They also have great hours and are close to the PATH. I would definitely recommend Jersey Dental for anyone looking for a seamless and painless dental experience.

Dr. Paek was amazing… He fixed me up today and the whole process was painless. My first time here and he’s become my top choice for when I need anything dental done.

The receptionists are clueless and unprofessional! I had to call and verify my own insurance after one receptionist informed me that I do not have insurance which is not true! I am fully insured and have a PPO! Do not waste your time finding parking for this ghetto dentist office… they do not know how to look up your correct insurance information let alone greet you when you come inside the building! They also shouldn’t be eating lunch at the front desk… the office looks tacky and sketchy… need I say more! Once I found the building and went inside the small door, walked up narrow stairs to the office and saw the dirty bathroom, I didn’t want to see the dentist after the presentation of the office! First impressions are important and this Dentist Office did not make a good one… so glad I went with my intuition on this place! NO REGRETS!!!

Don’t let the old school building entrance scare you away, lol. Once you get passed the old stairway and into their office you will be greeted by a pleasant staff and a clean, well-​kept office. Their friendly and professional attitude make going to the dentist a breeze, it’s too bad I only get to see them twice a year. Yes, I actually LIKE going to my dentist.
Their schedules are flexible (I usually have evening appointments), and I’ve never waiting longer than 5 minutes to be seen. Marlene, the Hygienist, is very thorough yet gentle.

I hate going to a dentist for some reason.

After a bad experience at another Jersey city dentist, I looked around for a dental office with better reviews. I’m very pleased I discovered Jersey City dental since the professionalism of Dr. Paek and the staff is leaps and bounds over my previous dentist.
Despite the sketchy exterior and walk-​up, the interior of the office is clean and the equipment is new and comfortable. The wait is relatively short and the waiting area is never too crowded. They are very upfront about costs and the accounts lady even gives you a detailed estimate before you decide which ones you want to go for.
As for the practice itself, the hygienist (I’ve worked with only one so far) is professional and very detailed. I also had a deep cleaning done on their recommendation and glad that I did. Dr. Paek himself is very skilled and attentive and my fillings went off without a hitch.
The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because someone who went to them on my recommendation had a really long wait and a poor experience with the other doctor at the office, whom I have not interacted with. Also, the front desk staff sometimes seem to not have basic information when talking on the phone, especially related to appointments and pending charges.
Overall, I’ll definitely continue going to Jersey city dental since their service is consistently above other dentists in the area.

Truth: I’ve only been to one dentist my whole life before Dr. Paek and it was my hometown dentist that I’ve been going to since I was a little kid. I moved to Jersey City a year ago, so it was different for me to be looking for a replacement dentist. Thankfully Unilocal pointed me in the right direction because I was very pleased with my appointment and the services I received from Dr. Paek and his staff.
I was able to schedule an appointment fairly quickly at this office, and because it is a paperless office, I was able to fill out all of my forms online ahead of time which was great. They take morning appointments as early as 7:30am, which is perfect if you want to get in a visit right before heading to work.
My cleaning and xrays with Marlene was excellent and very thorough. Afterwards, I appreciated that she had some helpful recommendations about electric toothbrushes to buy to keep up with in between cleanings. Dr. Paek was very pleasant to talk to. They offer Invisalign at the office, and while it is out of my budget right now, it is good to know for in the future when I would like to get it done.
It is great having a dentist in the neighborhood that I can walk to! Give this dentist office a try if you live in the downtown Jersey City area.
