could not be a worse place to purchase contact lenses, made a purchase over the phone at 160 for 2 boxes, called back 5 minutes later hoping to cancel the transaction, because I found a much lower price with Cohens at 220 for 4 boxes, however was told the transaction had gone through and the office policy is against it!!! hate this place!!!

Just got new glasses!!! Not from you guys, though. Nothing personal!!! Unilocal says this has to be longer.

October 11, 2015 around 5−6pm. I have a new prescription and asked for a quote for lenses using my old frame. I was with the impression that I can save some money using my old frame knowing that new frames already cost $ 100 or more. After showing my prescription to one of the people there and I requested for a transition lens with anti-​glare and scratch resistant feature, I was told that it would cost me around $ 500 for the lens alone. WOW, that EXPENSIVE???
Here’s their catch, they will give me 40% off on cost of lens if I buy the frame with them. I asked for the amount and cost if I buy the frame from their store… it will still end up $ 500++
People need due diligence when it comes to money and establishments like this will baffle you with words if you don’t ask them to show you the numbers. This is the third establishment I checked and they are the most expensive.

I rarely review retail chains, but I feel compelled to do this. I have been here on two separate occasions and the customer service here is the best. My two favorites are Natasha and the manager Lauren! Every one here is engaging, happy to answer your questions, and gives you the personalized no pressure attention to get you comfortable and happy.
I was so hesitant about getting glasses but they really gave me a great experience and I am glad to give them by business. I will be coming back here in the future!

Based on the reviews on here, I was dreading going to lenscrafters to get a new pair of glasses. I guess people who have terrible experiences are more likely to post than those with normal experiences, because this place wasn’t terrible at all.
I went here on a Friday night after work, so it was moderately busy. A pleasant store associate acknowledged me seconds after I walked in the store. I browsed the website before going in, so I had an idea of what I was looking for. After going down the line of glasses, I stopped in front of the locked case again since I had my heart set on a pair of Tiffany & Co. glasses. The same associate came over again to help me almost immediately. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the ones I wanted. She checked to see if they had them in stock underneath, but had no luck. I ended up finding similar glasses, although they were $ 60 more, and she helped me decide on black vs. tortoiseshell.
She was able to get everything set up (payment, prescription, etc.) in a reasonable amount of time. With a $ 25 discount from online and 40% off lenses discount, I still ended up paying $ 625 ($ 410 for the frames, about $ 180 for the lenses). I have Superior Vision insurance, I believe they will cover around $ 75, and I was kind of upset that she couldn’t bring up my insurance information with them. Now I have to submit a claim to get reimbursed. I’m not sure if this was their fault or if Superior Vision always requires submitting claims, but that’s kind of annoying nonetheless.
I was told I could pick up my glasses within an hour. I did a little bit of shopping and came back around an hour later. Within 15 minutes, I was out the door with my new glasses and I couldn’t be happier!

I’ve have always had the best treatment from the moment I walked in the store. I’ve been a loyal client since 2010. Mike and Shayne assisted me this afternoon as the store was busy on a normal Saturday afternoon. This didn’t impact their service in any form. I was in the market for a pair of shades this time around. Everyone was so helpful and smiles all around. If anyone is need of a pair of eyewear this is the spot to go to. I will remain a loyal customer as long as they stay the same. Kudos to LensCrafters in newport. I’ve visited other Lenscrafters for adjustments to my frames there’s no better service than JC. Attention to detail and not making your customers wait unnecessarily is key. Keep up the great work.

I read all the bad reviews. I was a lil worried. A friend told me her experience was totally good, and I really needed to get my eyes checked, so I took a chance.
Nice space! comfy, open environment. Staff were so nice, personable, attentive. Not even a long day side-​eye. I filled out my info online to make the appt. which they pulled up when I gave my name. They tended to me quickly. The Dr. was smiley, introduced himself, neat, clean and kinda hawt, (I’m juss sayin). The tests were performed by the other staff, and everything explained. I remembered not to get the retina test due to the red tape with my Horizon BCBS insurance, so I declined and didn’t get a hardcore press. Doctor was one of those guys who you could tell enjoyed his job, and would answer any question silly or otherwise. He was very thorough with the exam, didn’t rush through it, and let me know each step. Once he wrote out my prescription and put in the dilating drops, he let me know how much time I’d have to look at frames before everything went blurry. I wanted to hi-​five him. But instead I asked him about aging eyesight.
The frames side was nice. I was sent to a nice greek guy, (cuz his name tag was something I couldn’t hardly pronounce) who asked me what I was looking to wear. I truly thought picking frames would be the hardest thing ever, but he brought me some really cool ‘Me’ frames! He got me! and then took photos of the choices on an iPad in case I forgot what I looked like in them. We worked through price details, insurance, measurements, coupons, and only then we realized we had he same birthday! oh Joy! Yes, we hi-​fived! I paid, and wandered the mall for 90 minutes, came back to a «Welcome Back!» and picked up my glasses. I look gorge!
Glad I went. Best experience ever since I’d been going to the eye doctor. I don’t know if they truly were a crappy place a while back, and staff changed, or maybe I just had a unique experience, but I love the place, and I’ll recommend to folks at my job who have my same insurance.

Maikel Filobos– optometrist was a very nice man, who along with Jeannie help me with the eyeglass emergency. I’m always floored by the fact that vision insurance is pitiful and the cost of my glasses go up and up and up over the years. It is just very expensive. I never understand why.
I spent a total of $ 499 and that’s with a 50% discount on the lenses of my glasses and the frames cost $ 100 with after a $ 50 discount and a $ 35 one year insurance policy. Uggggghhhh!

I’ve been going to this LC for years. Michael has been helping us out since then and he’s probably the only employee I can trust with my glasses.
The eye doctor that gave me a check up the last time I was there was a very nice and informative.
With all that said, the place is extremely understaffed, thus leaving customers waiting for minutes on in, just for inquiries!
Still, I’d go here over any other glasses providers in the area…

I went in to get my sunglasses adjusted cuz the frames didn’t fit. No one greeted me or anything. Finally a younger intern? helped me. She was patient and offered to tighten my regular glasses too. She did a good job. Everyone else was so blasé. Services are way overpriced. Don’t tell me it’s quality. Because it’s not. My sunglasses and glasses are from LC. They are just average. Train your staff better on customer service. Thanks again to the younger intern/​trainee? who sat in the back and helped me. These stars are only for her.

Very Inconsistent place. They make it so obvious that all they care about is sales, sales and sales. Every time I go in here I cringe because I know they hate you if you aren’t purchasing something new. When you purchase new glasses they BEG you to get the insurance for $ 30.00 but when it comes time to use it, they despise you. They look at you like «ugh what a waste of time». I won’t lie there are a few people who are very pleasant, but the there are some who just don’t care. I hate giving bad reviews but this place deserves it. I went in a couple Saturdays ago with my Prada Frame and Ralph Lauren Sunglasses I purchased here last year, they both got damaged so I decided to go back since thankfully one of the rep last year convinced me to get the insurance. It was the worst feeling when I walked in and requested a change, the girl completely changed her attitude towards me. since I wasn’t a new client buying new lenses. The manager overheard me and told me they were really busy today to come back another time since they were backed up. I found that completely rude, I bet you if I were a brand new customer It would have been a whole new story. All of last year I praised Lens Crafters and recommend it to everyone at work and my clients at the bank. NOW, I would never recommend them. they are all sales and there is no customer service here. By the way they didn’t even want to give a new case which was so stupid and they didn’t want to clean my lenses or see if I needed any adjustments. They plain old simply are rude. I will never go back here again. So done with them. LensCrafters you lost a customer. Goodbye!

I went in for a simple frame adjustment on the night of February 27^th. The frame adjustment went fine –except for the addition of heavy scratches on both of the very expensive Zeiss progressive lenses in the frame :(. I should note that before I handed them to an LC associate, the year old pair was pristine — I’m very careful with eyeglasses, and there was not the tinest of scratches on either lens.
What really burns me is that when I mentioned that I was there for a frame adjustment, the associate (saleswoman) ‘joked’ «I recommend you replace these»; and as she was cleaning them, she specifically mentioned her dislike for people coming in with eyeglasses they hadn’t purchased there, and then complaining if they were damaged (!)
I thought that was a bit pointed, so mentioned that these eyeglasses were not from Lenscrafters (which I think she already could tell, since LC doesn’t carry Zeiss) — but that my backup pair and prescription sunglasses were.
I don’t want to believe that these were deliberately damaged, but I know what they were like before I entered the store; I know what they looked like after, when I returned home that evening and checked them, and it does seem just a bit too neat to be coincidence.
Needless to say, my last visit to this or any other LensCrafters. Hope the 40 years of lost business was worth it.

Friendly staff but ridiculous prices. Tried to charge me $ 620 for just for high prescription lenses and $ 850 in total. Got similar frame and lenses for $ 125 from Warby Parker in the city.
Never visiting it again nor recommending to anyone.

Perhaps this eyewear chain is not expected to be above average in its industry, but this branch, in particular, is so bad that I don’t know where to begin…
Our first time in the store, they were experiencing computer issues. The 2^nd time and most recent time… They were coincidentally experiencing computer issues.
I’m writing this review after the most recent visit in which all we wanted was for them to adjust the pricey designer frames that we purchased. We are talking about taking those tiny little screwdrivers and tightening those tiny little screws on the hinges of the glasses.
Our exceptionally bad store rep, Mr. Deepak Jacobi, asked is we bought the service plan! When he confirmed on the very slow-​working computer that we hadn’t, he said that it would cost $ 25 to make the repair. When we expressed our dismay at having bought the frames at this store in June of this year and now being asked to pay $ 25 to tighten loose screws… Mr. Jacobi stated that the problem with the glasses was user mishandling…
I’ll stop my tale here because the conversation deteriorated rapidly after that comment. Needless to say, we won’t be shopping there in the future.

Decent size and selection. I’ve bought numbered prescription glasses from there earlier. After my recent LASEK, I was going to purchase my first non-​numbered sunglasses.
Staff is great and professional. Following scenario was encountered with Mrs. Salati (I think I have her name right), who was a thorough professional throughout.
Liked an Oakley frame. Decided to buy it.
Was talking regarding some discount, etc. Was able to get some % off due to my insurance.
Only then, when she was wiping the lenses, I realized I’m getting the display model.
YUCK! I don’t want that! It’s been tried by people, got oil and hand stains all over it, just so unhygenic. I requested a different, fresh model.
(After all, any other purchase you buy you get a new model — watch, computer, car.)
She mentioned they don’t have any other models in the back of the store. Just the diplay model.
Requested her to void the transaction. She did not have an attitude or turn unprofessional. Remained calm throughout and explained my transaction has been voided.

It’s a nasty policy by Lens Crafters, if they just give the diplay model. Yo’re paying full price, for a model that’s been tried by god knows how many people before you. Yeeesh!
Even 3^rd world countries have better service. Screw this.
Was in times square. Saw the same model for $ 50 cheaper at the Oakley store.
Bought it there. Got a fresh pair. Associate threw in a Oakley case for free.

I always have a good experience at this Lens Crafters. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Getting an eye exam here is impossible. You get an appointment and then they make you wait for an hour. Not sure about store’s staff but the doctor’s office staff is pretty rude and unprofessional. Why would I go there again if I have so many choices?

They were amazing! I was leaving for tour the next morning at 5 am so I needed an exam and glasses in the same day… I was in at 3pm and out at 4:30pm with glasses in hand.

As I needed «real» glasses, and LensCrafters had a 50% off frames special, I wended my way there a few weeks ago.
The assistant helping me did not seem to have any skill at choosing lenses, and as I don’t either I found a complete stranger – also looking for glasses – who was most helpful and eager to share her opinion, which I instinctively trusted.
I ordered the lenses both progressive (like trifocals but without the line) and transition (the type that get darker in the sun). When I went to pick up the glasses the next day, I discovered that they barely got dark at all, and the slight color change made them turn a headache-​inducing light bluish rather normal sunglass color.
My bad luck – a new eye doctor I had visited messed up the prescription, so I had to return them in any case (and to be fair, LensCrafter said they would provide new lenses if I got a correction from the doctor).
The transition part was a real problem though as my eyes are light-​sensitive. Seems LensCrafters pretty much doesn’t provide real, normal color, transitional lenses anymore.
The upshot: I returned the lenses, kept the frames, and visited a small, local optical shop in downtown Jersey City – they gave super-​service and I’m very happy with my glasses. Oh, they did it all for about half the price (despite LensCrafters sale.. .)

What a disappointing experiance!
I am a long time customer of this store. My visit on 7−30−10…awful. Foremost, I wen to buy my 11 year old glasses. The salesman, Deepak, calculated my total without asking me for my preferences. He elected the most elections for my kid: featherwates complete with antiglare which not only raised it by over $ 80 than the normal featherwates plus that I always buy but has to be custom made!
After work, I rush to this mall, pay for parking, pay $ 260.00 for one pair of kid’s glasses, walk around the mall for 2 hours making sure to give them more than enough time… Just to walk in and be informed of the above! I was so angry! I was told to come back tommorow the next day and it would be done at 11am!
It is now the next day, I have paid for parking, an arrived at 11:49am! I am told it’s still not ready… I am waiting… It’s 12:13pm so far… Still waiting. Please note, that I changed the lenses for the basic done in an hour lenses. I am so frustrated… The time is ticking on the parking garage meter and I need to go to work… Still waiting… 12:16pm… My kid has fallen asleep on counter… 12:17… 12:18…12:25p…
