Moved with Moishe 3 times. All excellent. Great pre planning with sales gal Kat. The moving guys were courteous and efficient. Will do it again. Great.

Three gentlemen showed up on time, did exactly what we needed, and charged exactly what we were told we would be charged. The fee was very competitive and we would definitely use Moishe’s Moving again.

I’ve been using Moishe’s for every move in the last 8 years, and they just keep getting better. Abeta and his crew were six-​star— on time, thoughtful, swift, careful, attentive, focused, incredibly hard-​working, and on top of every detail. The company is the best I’ve used on the East Coast, and this team is stellar.

Ive moved many times before. I just called for a quote — I have a precise list of what needs to be moved. Im happy to give detailed info on where our elevator is in the building and same as to where I am moving to. Upon calling the man asked many questions as to why I havent filled out an online form. We need to move out in 4 days! He said someone has to come to my home to give me a quote. I told him I have all the info and he proceeded to ask me for my name. After I did that he then oddly said unless someone goes to your home I cannot give you a quote and take the job. Why didnt he say that before he asked for info? Something is very odd with this company. Btw I have had other movers say the same but when they see I have info on what needs to be moved, they proceed to giving me a quote.

Flavio’s crew moved us in yesterday and they were awesome! On time, quick, efficient, friendly, and careful with our things. We really appreciate how smooth they made our move and would highly recommend this team.

Five Stars for Flavio and his team of 3 (Flavio and his team always work together as a crew) who moved us from Connecticut to New Jersey last week. Flavio and all of his crew were incredibly careful, diligent, polite, and incredibly hard workers who took care of our belongings during every moment of the 9-​hour process. Our family would hire them again in a second.

I have been in the relocation industry for 20 years and I only hope that all moves are as great as mine. I had a short time to arrange a move from NJ to CA yet one call in and, I was accommodated same day.
My first call came in from Slavio to introduce himself and to let me know they are in route to my home.
My team consisted of five guys, Slavio, Eduardo, Rolando and two others.
When they arrived they came in introduced themselves and did a walk through so each person knew what they will be doing. There was no need to say anything twice they worked efficiently, organized fast paced did I mention polite?
Although they had come from working a morning job, their energy was fresh and motivated to accomplish as much as possible. They wrapped all my art work carefully not rushing handled each piece with care.
Opening box after box labeling each with my kids name it was stress free.
They were a well managed team! Slavio the Forman delighted but worked hard together as a team, it is a rare occasion that I can be as impressed as I was with them. They were a delight as their professionalism and courtesy to me was beyond words.
We had a two day move as the trailer could not make it up to my area and they needed to load two truck loads to Tranport my goods, the time line they provided to finish was accurate they made sure I walked through so nothing was left behind and they cleaned up after they were finished.
Both days were hot but yet you did not catch any of them taking a break, if I offered a drink the thank you was said right away! Eduardo and Rolando worked simultaneously they had a rhythm that flowed quickly yet quietly.
I’m not a poster but when a job is done so well everyone should know this crews quality they are a diamond!

I said in my last review I wouldn’t use Moishe’s again, and then, more than two years later, I did! They came in-​person to do an estimate for my long-​distance move. The quote I received was probably about 20% less than other estimates, and I ended up going with them. Considering my stuff (less than a studio apartment’s worth) went from Brooklyn, was transferred to a cross-​country truck in Jersey, and arrived in Chicago safely, I’d say things went pretty well! Movers on the New York side arrived on time and worked quickly to pack my things up for the long-​distance transfer.

Recently hired them for a move from Manhattan to Jersey City. My movers were over an hour and a half late. They didn’t call to say they would be running late, I had to call Moishe’s twice to ask where they were. Each time I called I was told they were about «20 minutes away». When they arrived, they told me three men would be doing the job instead of two. I argued with them, but as I was already over 90 minutes behind schedule so I asked them to please get started. About 10 minutes into the move, they dropped a box of glassware. Late and not careful.
I was quoted $ 420 for three hours of work plus one hour driving time for a total of four hours. The crew claimed that the extra man on the job would expedite the process. It didn’t. It took them the full four hours to finish the move. This included several smoke breaks until I asked one of the men to please put out his cigarette as it was drifting into my building and I was concerned my neighbors would complain. When completed, I was told the price would be $ 630…over $ 200 more than the original estimate. They claimed an estimate was the lowest cost it would be. I told them they should understand what the word estimate means before using it when providing a quote. After arguing with the crew, dispatch and a supervisor I ended up giving up and paying them $ 560 in order to get on with my day — again, I was already behind schedule and had other deliveries and things to do on moving day.
I called management again to reason with them that this entire move was unprofessional and therefore I should not have had to pay a dime more than my quote. They took my number down and said they’d call back. They never did.
PLEASE for the care of your belongings and the sake of your sanity, DO NOT use this company. They may seem like a great price when you’re provided a quote, but you will end up paying more and it will be an aggravating experience.

Moishes was great. I called on Monday for a Friday move from the Nyc to Jersey city. They were on time, quick, careful with my belongings and very professional.
I have absolutely no complaints.

I used Moishe’s for my move and they were great. The final cost was less than the quote. The men who did the actual moving were professional and thorough.

Can’t say enough about our great experience with Moishe. We had to move our stuff out on the last day of Sept but could not move in until the first day of October so we needed to find a company that would keep our stuff in the truck safely overnight. Moishe was the only company willing and able to do it. Ronnie came by two weeks before to give us an estimate — which was very acceptable and they honored it. No hidden or added fees. He was very polite and professional. Then Flavio and his team came in and move us out yesterday and moved us in this morning. All the guys were polite and very careful with our belongings. They were a little early but told us that they could wait until we were ready. We will definitely refer them and use them again in the future. Thank you Moishe for a stress free experience!

I had a short move between two apartments in Jersey City. I called Moishe’s only a couple days prior to the move and they were able to provide a team at the day and time I needed. Kat in customer service asked a lot of questions about what exactly was being moved and was able to give me a competitive quote. I ended up choosing them based on their BBB rating and quote. When i was finally all moved, the foreman ended up taking a few hundred dollars off the quoted rate because of how fast and easy it was. I appreciated this honest business interaction

Long distances moves can be painful. Moishe’s makes them very painful. I would stay away from them.
I used them to move my family’s stuff from the East Coast to West Coast. We were moving from a 2 bedroom to another 2 bedroom. A lot of stuff but not a houseful of stuff. To be fair, everything went smoothly on the packing up side of the move — until our stuff got on the truck.
That’s when things got ugly. We could not get through to anyone after that, and were left completely in the dark. The person we had been dealing with until then did not tell us that we would be handled by a colleague of his in charge of long distance moves, so we wasted time chasing after our person with no response, and we had no idea where our stuff was, and when it would get shipped to our new location.
Finally, when we learned about the existence of the long distance person, we had to chase after him to get any kind of update.
When our stuff was getting close to our area we got a call from the trucker asking us if we would be able to reserve spots on the street the next morning for the unloading, because he had a massive semi-​truck (~80 feet long). No call from the company to walk us through this big step and help make a smooth move. By then, it was too late for us to do anything about reserving spots. This huge truck showed up the next day and started unloading our stuff, until a traffic enforcement cop told him to get the heck off the street because he was blocking traffic.
The trucker told us he will need to transfer our stuff to a small U-​Haul truck so he can unload our stuff without blocking traffic. He also told us that there would be an extra $ 800 fee to transfer our stuff to the smaller truck. We were surprised by this because we had been told that it would be very unlikely that any additional fees would apply. We called the person at the company whom we were in contact with, and he was a huge jerk. When we started asking if he could bring down the fee, he rudely said he would INCREASE the fee instead if we pushed back on the fees.
In the interim, I called Moishe’s customer service to complain, and the guy I spoke to was only willing to reduce the additional charges from $ 800 to $ 700. However, we later learned that he forgot to do one thing — tell the truck driver about this agreement. So we were left in a pretty awkward situation — to tell the trucker that we should only pay him $ 700 when he was told that we need to pay $ 800. The customer service guy said he would investigate the situation, but I never heard a word about it afterwards.
The transfer to the smaller truck took an entire day, and the guy’s crew had enough, so he needed to find a new crew. He showed up in the U-​Haul and two new guys at our apartment around 8:30pm. (I still had to spend time blocking off some parking spots so he can park and not block traffic.) We had a lot of stuff, and three guys were not enough to do this move in a timely fashion. The guys were finally done around 12:30am. I was forced to pay the full $ 800 because he was never informed by Moishe’s customer service that they reduced the fee to $ 700, and I was desperate to end the all day moving nightmare.
Moishe’s shouldn’t just show up at your apartment with an 80 foot truck and expect to pull off the move without any hitches. It turned out to be a huge waste of time running around trying to reserve parking spaces so the truck could pull over to unload. They should handle these logistics, not the customer. And they should do a much better job keeping their customers informed about the process. And they should treat their customers with a modicum of respect.

Customer service is unlike others. Did not have to wait very long to get a quote or get a question answered. The person I talked to was Nico. He was very soft spoken and very patient with me. I was indecisive and had too many questions but guided me through the quote and the move. Couldn’t be any happier.

Got a great price quote and service from my rep at Moishe’s…the move was delayed for a few months and she did periodic follow-​up until it actually happened.
Approx. 25 boxes as well as furniture and framed artwork were moved from a NYC storage facility to their final destination in NC flawlwssly!

There are a few Moishe’s listings on Unilocal so I’m posting this review here, too, so that people can learn from my experience.
In reading over recent reviews here, it seems that people’s experiences with Moishe’s have been hit or miss. Mine was certainly a huge miss and I would advise others to find another moving company. It’s just not worth the risk.
I hired Moishe’s to move my stuff from Brooklyn to Colorado in September. Every step of the way involved significant problems. Fittingly, the company in Colorado that Moishe’s hired to deliver our stuff said that they see problems with Moishe’s moves all of the time. The crew leader wasn’t surprised to see all of the damage and coached me to photograph and document the issues so that we would be protected.
Here are the biggest problems we encountered:
* Damaged stuff: The Moishe’s team caused thousands of dollars of damage due to careless packing, moving, and storage. They literally threw items into boxes without padding or paper and tied together pieces of furniture without padding between them, resulting in lots of damage. Antiques were damaged irreparably, my gas grill was smashed, and our sofa is damaged and thread bare in the places that were bashed into walls.
* Damage to my building: The moving crew caused damage to my apartment building in Brooklyn while moving my sofa. At first they denied it, later they admitted it, and the dispatcher gave me a «final offer» discount of $ 100 for the move. I spent the last few hours in my Brooklyn apartment trying to patch up the damage and hoping that I wouldn’t lose my security deposit.
* Missed the delivery window: Moishe’s gave us a twelve-​day (12!) delivery window for our stuff. They then missed their own delivery window, and since we were scheduled to travel after receiving our belongings our move was delayed by two weeks. Annoyingly, they gave no warning that they would be late. When I called to confirm their delivery on day 12 they matter of factly informed me that they were behind schedule. No apology.
* Awful customer service: Bashkim Spahi was the Claims/​Customer Service Manager I worked with. He never offered an apology, often said that our problems were not his fault, and yelled at me on the phone on a number of occasions. It was terrible. His role seems to be less of a customer service manager and more of a belligerent bouncer.
* No insurance claim response: Bashkim instructed me to fill out an insurance claim, which I did weeks ago. He has never responded to requests for an update on my claim.
* Bait and switch: When the moving crew arrived the crew leader told me that Moishe’s wouldn’t be able to honor my price quote and they would have to charge me extra. His explanation was that the Moishe’s sales guy who had given us the quote did a bad job of estimating the size of our move. After a lot of back and forth with the dispatcher, which included the question «should our guys just leave?», the dispatcher agreed to honor the original quote but it was a very stressful way to start.
* Extra fees: Later, once all of my stuff was loaded into the Moishe’s truck, the crew leader and dispatcher tried to assess extra fees, totaling 6% as I understood it. In the end, I was able to get the fees waived but it was another example of unnecessary stress.

Actual move experience– HORRIBLE
LATE…MANY BROKEN ITEMS… BAD COMMUNICATION…
We had a horrible experience with this moving company. The relocation consultant was wonderful and the moving team on the Chicago end was great, but the good experience ended there (thus the 1 star). My company paid full relocation and approved the quote so we selected Moishe’s.
We contracted Moishe’s for a full service move (including packing of remaining items as determined during a live visit by the consultant) from NYC to Chicago. We also needed a wooden bed frame carried to the bulk disposal area in our courtyard, which the consultant said would not be a problem.
We selected our pick-​up window for a 5pm start (at the latest) and the movers did not arrive until 7:45pm. They did call and notify us that they were running late, which was nice, but unfortunately our landmark building does not allow moving to take place after 8pm. Since our lease ended two days later, we did not have the option to reschedule so were forced to take our chances.
2 hours and 45 minutes late, the moving team arrived completely unaware that they needed to pack anything and without enough boxes to pack our items causing additional delays because the movers argued that everything was supposed to be packed. Both parties had to call the company to verify although it was clearly written on our quote. Note that in the two weeks or so since the quote, we did continue packing our items when we had time so they had even less packing to do than when the quote was made.
The team was visibly frustrated and rushed through the packing process. They grumbled when they had to disassemble furniture that, again, was part of the quote. They kept asking if nearly every item needed to go. It was like the bike movers skit on Portlandia. No matter how many times we told them, «Yes we are taking everything but the bedframe».
The movers kept asking questions like, «do we need to pack the items in the kitchen» and «are you taking all of the bookshelves». «Yes, we are moving halfway across the country so we need ALL of our things need to be moved TO the place where we are moving… TO». Affirmative responses were met with frustration like no one told them they would be moving things from our apartment to their truck. We had to argue multiple times over the moving of the bed frame to the disposal area, and they only removed it when we said, «OK then load it onto the truck and we will dispose it in Chicago». By the way, the truck was further than the bulk disposal area anyway.
The movers finished after 11pm and had no idea that my company had already paid in full. So, after a long, tension-​filled moving process we then had to call the company again to verify this. The movers wanted a credit card number from me «just in case». After all that chaos and confusion, there is no way I would agree to that!
Our stuff was to be stored until we found an apartment in Chicago. We gave Moishe’s a first possible move-​in date of the 15^th of the following month, with the understanding that when we had a final address we could officially give notice and start the «7-​day delivery window». We started that on the 11^th, hoping for a delivery around the 14^th. We were notified that because of some (non-​domestic) holiday, they would not be able to deliver until the 20^th at the earliest. They arrived on the 22^nd.
Our delivery was on a truck with many other deliveries, and we never located a box while other boxes had missing identification stickers. As another reviewer mentioned, it seemed like the NYC team rushed to make up for their own lateness and very poor care was taken with our items once they were out of our sight. Many items were broken during the move, and not just fragile items clearly marked fragile or packed by the Moishe’s staff. Examples on top of dishes packed by Moishe’s include entire plastic storage bins shattered and taped back together with moving tape, a computer desk less than one year old broken down to the screw joints so badly damaged the Chicago team did not even unload from the truck…
Thankfully our new 42″ flat screen TV survived though it was packed unwrapped into a large cardboard box (not a frame box) with no padding and the screen facing the side of the box. The box was not marked fragile or anything! Loosely packed into the large box with the TV was a shoe rack, umbrellas, and other hard items from the living room where the TV was. TERRIBLE! It was so badly packed that we thought it was missing because there was «no way» it would be packed in a box like that, unmarked, and unloaded beneath a bunch of other boxes.
I would say you get what you pay for, but Moishe’s was the middle of three quotes I obtained for this move and not the cheapest. I guess you have to check the reviews. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

I used Moishe’s to move from Brooklyn to Chicago in August.
They had a competitive quote and were one of the few companies that actually sent out an estimator to evaluate the amount of stuff I had. I also chose them because they told me they had an office in Chicago.
The loading was fantastic. Lots of guys, a crew of six I think. They came early and got things done very quickly.
I had to wait a few extra days in Chicago to get my stuff because my plans changed and they were flexible.
The crew delivering the stuff were not Moishe’s employees. They were a rag tag bunch; one obese and one a teenager. They were adequate, but did not show a ton of care with my things. They were quite a few boxes that were pretty banged up from the loading and unloading and reloading onto a smaller truck, but not a lot broken mostly just dishes.
The crew in New York was great and if they could have had the same service on this end it would be a rave review. The cost estimate was exact plus the fee for having to reload onto a smaller truck in Chicago, which I was told about ahead of time.
All in all, not a bad move.
Except actually I am moving again (because I don’t like my apartment) and I called whomever was supposed to be Moishe’s in Chicago to try to get a quote and they said were an artist representative company. And then they said oh yeah, we do moves. I thought that was strange. I won’t be using them here.
