Oscar’s Automatic Transmissions

Refreshing to finally come into contact with a mechanic professional who isn’t trying to rob you. I went for a diagnostic and was given a general code indicating that there was trouble with my transmission. I was told that I would have to pay 5k for a new transmission at the dealership, the service consultant even went as far as saying «don’t wanna take the chance woth little ones». I went to Oscar as he was recommended to us by a friend who’s mom had her transmission done by him long ago and has never had an issue with it since. Oscar has advised that I don’t need a new transmission, just have a leak! He ordered oil for me and withing 2 hours my car was driving 100x better. He asked me to bring it back because he suspected I had a leak and that’s exactly what it is.
Once repairs are done I will update this post.

I called ahead and Oscar was nice enough to let me come in later that day to check out my transmission. He performed a diagnostic fairly quickly (within 45 minutes). However, he told me he had to look some things up and would call me later that day or the next to tell me what I needed. In the meantime, he said I was fine to drive, which ended up not being true. Two days went by and I still didn’t hear from him. I called and left a message for him with someone else, but he didn’t return my call. The day after that, I left a voicemail. It’s been 5 days and I haven’t heard anything from Oscar. Meanwhile, I had my car looked and and diagnosed within 30 minutes at a different shop and the parts have already been ordered.
Oscar seems to have a lot of business, and I’m sure he does great work, but clearly he doesn’t need new customers if he doesn’t call you back.

I was told by my regular mechanic that I needed to replace my transmission’s solenoid pack because it was leaking which occasioned the motor mounts to be destroyed from being soaked in transmission fluid and the cost for these repairs I thought were exorbitant, so I went to Oscar’s Transmissions in Jersey City because a friend in Hoboken, NJ recommended them highly. Oscar’s is not a modern big high end service station, its an old time down to earth Garage, they took my car in and started working on it and they would have finished all of the extensive work in a day had their wholesale parts distributor not screwed up in that he shipped a motor mount bracket instead of the motor mount, but they got the correct mount in early next morning and installed it as well as the transmissions solenoid pack which they had in stock and (for a lot less then a the dodge dealer I called to ck the price) All in all I was really impressed in that they repaired my car in less time then my regular mechanic would have and they did it for literally hundreds less. So basically if you want your car serviced at a garage with flat screens, coffee service and periodicals to entertain you Don’t take your car here, this is an Old time garage No Frills, Just Great mechanics fixing your car for an honest and great Price,
