I just moved from Las Vegas, and needed a touch up on my roots.
I was referred by a friend.
I got a quick and convenient time.
I had Dana color my hair, and for the first time a stylist didn’t bleach my hair, she used some sort of color that was gentle, didn’t burn my scalp
She added white highlights, and when she blew it out I couldn’t believe I didn’t need a toner
There was no brass!
I’m a lifer!
I live in Nutley so it’s a ways to come but I can’t believe how gorgeous it looks
Recommended for color and cuts!!!

Dana did my hair. She did a blow out on Sunday. I wish I had a picture. I will post it when I get some. She is fantastic. If I lived closer I would use her for everything. I was concerned because I was going to an important affair. Use her –I’m sure you will be pleased.

It is so hard to find a new salon. Once you trust someone with your hair, especially for color, you start to believe that no one else exists who could ever match what you had. Thank goodness Sorella Mia proved me wrong!
After 5 years of driving an hour to my hometown to get my hair done, enough was enough. I always told myself that color in Jersey City is simply too expensive. AND IT IS. However, if done right, it’s worth it.
My first time in, I had a haircut with Dana. The place was lovely and she couldn’t have been nicer! I told her I didn’t want to lose a lot of length but to just get it healthy and she did just that – wasn’t pushy and gave great tips on how to style and blow dry without being pretentious. I knew then I had found my new salon.
My second visit, Leah did my color. What a shame that she is only in a couple days a week! She is a truly talented colorist. I despise stripey, unnatural foil highlights but have found that balyage means different things to different people. I had tons of red in my hair and wanted it back to my brown base with blonde painted, natural highlights, and simply assumed that this would take more than one visit, as red is stubborn, but Leah got it done BEAUTIFULLY without harming my hair in one afternoon!
So pleased to have found Sorella Mia!

Dana is so talented, my hair looks phenomenal! Plus it’s exactly what I wanted which we all know is hard to get in a haircut. Thanks Dana, you’re the best!

Looking for a new stylist for a trim after moving to the neighborhood, the experience arriving and waiting for my appointment was unpleasant enough to leave without a cut. Possible that they are amazing with hair (reason for 2 stars instead of 1) — however, Dana had gone home sick, my appt. was running behind by at least 25 min, and the general attitude was negative and unapologetic when I inquired about how long the wait was expected to be. They were not only curt with me but also non-​discreetly serving attitude to the other client who was in the chair over her dye job. Not the type of environment to feel comfortable as a first-​time client… or maybe ever.

Chose Sorella Mia based on fab Unilocal reviews and was not disappointed. Dana did my first cut in over a year and she was worth the wait! Entered with a shapeless, lank, crispy mop and exited with the full, silky, medium shag I described — no pic necessary. She gave me a thorough consult prior to wash and I was confident that Dana completely understood my hair and the outcome I wanted. She cut to the wave so it looks great natural or blown out. Lovely salon and service so personal I immediately felt like family; Dana is as warm as she is talented. Wonderful experience with a brilliant professional!

I went here based on other Unilocal reviews and I am so happy I did! Dana is amazing! She really knows her stuff and gave me an amazing haircut. I like to keep my hair fairly long and she honored that while making it look so much better! Plus, because I was celebrating my birthday she took the extra time to give me a extra special blow out! I got compliments all night! I’m about to go to sleep and my hair still looks fantastic! Plus her prices are fair… not too cheap where you sacrifice quality but not crazy high. Like she put it, ‘you should be able to get your hair done when you want, not save up for months.’ Finally, the booking process is super easy and can be done right online. This is definitely my new salon!

I got a blow out from Dana. She’s really great, professional, friendly and fun. I am giving 3 stars because my curls didn’t last more than 2 hours and I needed my curl to last all night long. Maybe it was the weather. For those of you who are curious about the price– The blow out was $ 40, $ 10 tip to the stylist and $ 5 tip for the shampoo specialist, total $ 55.

Went back to see Dana for some TLC for my hair. As usual she was awesome! It had been a while so she had her work cut out for her and she didnt disappoint. Top notch color and cut plus an amazing shine treatment! Highly recommend booking ahead of time as shes super busy giving everyone she see’s top notch service. Such a great find to find a caring, consistent stylist!

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Dana for about 8 months now. Each time I’d get the same cut as my first visit as I really liked it. This time I went in for something a bit different. I kinda knew what I wanted and brought in a photo to just give some direction. Dana was great, as usual. She talked me through the cut and what she’d suggest and really made sure we did things in a way that’d help me leave happy. I loved the cut but did accept that it’d probably require a little more work on my end in terms of blow drying, styling etc. Not the case! I got up this morning and with very little effort, the cut looks just as good as it did yesterday after leaving the salon. I’ve never stayed with the same stylist this long before. Looks like I’m staying with Dana even longer!

I never write reviews, but after my experience with this AMAZING hair salon I was compelled to write one! Sorella Mia is a classy and clean hair salon that has a ton of charm to it. As soon as I walked in Marissa the receptionist greeted me, checked me in and asked if I would like a beverage (so nice). I get very bored with my hair and after having it long for over 8 years I was so done with it. As soon as I sat down in Dana chair I was so relaxed and ready to do some snipping, even though it was my first time there. Dana listened, paid close attention to what I had in mind and BLEW my mind away with the finished results– an edgy bob with an undercut. I will most definitely be going back and recommending to everyone. I highly recommend you book your next hair appointment with Sorella Mia before going anywhere else in the area!

Dana (the owner) did a fantastic job with my haircut, and I’ve been getting compliments on the cut ever since. I got an inverted bob cut, which isn’t the easiest style to get right, but Dana painstakingly made sure to get every detail right. You can tell Dana takes great pride in her work and takes time and care into making sure each client leaves 100% happy. The price is very reasonable for the area — and to top it off, she’s super friendly and puts you right at ease from the moment you step through the door. I will be back!

I rarely write reviews but needed to give a shout out. Dana is amazing! Best haircut I’ve gotten in jersey city and will definitely be coming back. She is also hilarious and can somehow cut your hair perfectly even if you’re moving around laughing. That takes skill.

Ohhhh my hair!!! I finally found a winner!
Let’s start off with I haven’t had a hair cut in 2 years, yes, two and why do you ask cause I haven’t found anyone trustworthy of doing the job until today.

Today was the day I finally decided to take a leap of faith and look for a hair dresses, see I’ve been cutting my own ends this entire time, yep a little uneven but it worked. I went to go old Unilocal to see what ya’ll said and where to go. Dana is the only one with 5 stars, she deserves 10!
Got a wash, cut, and blow dry for $ 50. Now let’s talk about how it felt like a doctors visit, a hair doctor that is. Dana examined my hair before anything else, she listened to my needs, and the best part she did everything I asked for and more! She asked me my hair habits, diet, product use, etc! She took her time, told me what she was doing as she was doing it, completely made me feel comfortable.
I have finally found my hair dresser! I WILL be coming back!

High-​quality style without the pretentious bullsh*t. Dana is a rockstar. She listened to my preferences and provided much-​needed guidance. I went in there on a whim and came out a happy and loyal customer. She cares for you, as well as your hair. I am never going anywhere else!

Dana is such a wonderful stylist. I started off with blowout treatments, due to advantage of salon’s proximity to my home, but my experience here turned out to be the best ever! I have extremely frizzy hair and Dana suggested relaxation treatment. Due to my hair being stubborn, it did not work at first, but Dana made sure I get the right kind of treatment, and my hair looks wonderful to this day (nearly a month after the treatment).
I highly recommend Sorella Mia and Dana personally for being so perfect!

Dana, is the owner of the salon and she is amazingly awesome! I wanted to get a hair color and styling. Took an appointment for a «free consultation» and I was impressed.
Finally, the day arrived… My Hair Coloring Day:) When I reached the salon Dana wasn’t there and «Leah» the colorist was waiting for me. Believe you me, she is just awe-​some. She is there just on Saturday’s and I highly recommend to try her. Especially, if you’re unsure about your «next look» she is your go-​to person… They’re amazing! I highly recommend this place.
P. S. No one leaves their salon with WET HAIR :)
