Viaquenti Academy

Viaquenti is as good as it gets in terms of schools, it actually feels like being part of a very happy family. My first son, who is now 7, went to Viaquenti when he turned 2 and stayed only for one year as I moved him to a dual language program in public school in Downtown Jersey City. I have come to realize it was a mistake and that he would have had a much better education and more fun had he stayed at Viaquenti. My second son (4 and a half) started at Viaquenti at One and a half years old and is still there. I am truly amazed at how much he has learned in this school, socially and academically. The most important thing is that he has learned to LOVE to learn, this is the most precious gift a teacher can give, this will stay with him for the rest of his life. They teach the kids to be caring, curious, good students in general, all with fun activities so kids actually want to go to school. They also have extra curricular activities for no extra fees like music, art, cooking, theater… Another plus is the afterschool program which is all in Spanish so kids can learn a second language.
Finally, the staff including the director are all wonderful and very helpful, the communication is easy and effective.
I highly recommended Viaquenti to any parent who want their children to thrive in a warm, encouraging, highly educational environment. Thank you Viaquenti!!!

I’ve been meaning to write this review for about 2 months now. I just moved out of Jersey City with my 3 small children, and as they say, you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone. We spent 4 of the 5 years we lived in JC as part of the Viaquenti community. We sent our oldest child to one of the first classes they had, I think. She stayed at Viaquenti through until kindergarten, going to their after-​school program. My second child started at Viaquenti at 18 months and stayed until we just moved — 2 years. It is such a loving community for children. The curriculum and artwork they do is super. My kids really thrived at Viaquenti, and I felt like I was leaving them in good hands everyday. The teachers are patient, kind and loving. The facility is just right for kids, and they make great use of the outdoor space they have. I also loved the ethnic diversity of the classes, each class is like a little UN, it’s great. I wish we could have brought Viaquenti with us when we moved. We miss it! You’d be crazy not to send your child here if you have the chance. Wish I could give more than 5 stars.

This is a fantastic school with exceptionally loving and caring teachers. Two of my children have already attended, with the third starting in September. I was extremely nervous and anxious about leaving my kids ANYWHERE. After about a week, I saw my kids run up to their teachers and hug them and I knew this was the right place for me. I especially like that they communicate what my child is doing, how long he napped, how much he ate (even how many poopy diapers he had!) via Daily Connect. This communication was/​is very comforting to me. I also really like that they have the outdoor space. This was VERY important to me when researching different places (and I researched many). I haven’t had any negative experiences thus far and don’t anticipate having any. Very happy with Viaquenti!

I have been sending my two children to Viaquenti Preschool for the last 2 – 3 years, and my experience with the school has been extremely positive.
1. Viaquenti is run very efficiently when it comes to communication. Weekly newsletters are emailed and photos and lesson plans are uploaded in Meetup, so that parents are always aware of what’s happening in the classroom, and can engage in conversation with their children about the school activities. The director/​assistant directors promptly respond to your emails (99% of the time within a couple hours), and show openness for your concerns/​suggestions, which I deeply appreciate. Any accidents in school (although it happens very rarely) are always handled professionally — with written accident reports, proper first aid treatment, and phone calls to the parents explaining what had happened.
2. The school provides well-​balanced programs and a good variety of extracurricular activities — Spanish, music, art, and cooking classes. The teachers are not only good models for the children, but also are warm, caring, and fun. The school also provides high quality art supplies (apparently your one-​time supplies fee is going to where it is supposed to be).
3. Everything in the school is beautiful (especially the mural), tastefully designed, and well-​maintained. I am usually very picky with visuals and cleanliness, but Viaquenti has never disappointed me. Recently, the school opened a new location on the border of Jersey City and Hoboken. Although the surrounding area is a bit sketchy because of the redevelopment project, the school itself is super nice — spacious and brand new.
4. If you are a busy working parent, I recommend Viaquenti even more. Unlike public schools and some private schools in the area, this school offers such a working family friendly schedule. They open at 7:30am and close at 6pm. They will stay open throughout the year except for major holidays, 1 week spring break, 1.5 week Christmas break, and 2 half days for parent-​teacher conference. At one point, I sent my older child to a montessori school, but their academic calendar was incompatible with my not-​so-​flexible work schedule. Having to hire someone for those extra days (which amounted to almost 2 weeks for the academic year + 3 more weeks between the summer sessions) not only adds up costs but a lot of stress on my part. Viaquenti has no random closures! Another working family friendly point is that the school has a contract with a local catering vendor, so you can order hot lunch meals to be delivered to the school.
5. Last but not least, their tuition is reasonable compared to other private schools in the area. They do not charge additional fees for extra curricular activities, and there is absolutely no hidden fee.
The school is putting so much effort to constantly improve their offerings. They will certainly listen to you and accommodate your needs if any. A big kudos to the administration!

My daughter’s second home! Viaquenti offers an environment that provides my child the love and care she needs to foster her learning. Great staff who are very approachable, take parental input and provide good feedback. Such an enjoyable place where my daughter has made some very good friends. Thank you Viaquenti!
