Don’t expect a friendly voice when you call the Crystal Lake location to order a pizza. I had to repeat my number three times(practically having to yell in the phone) and after the third attempt, the phone goes silent and 10 seconds later a new person shows up on the other end and asks me to repeat my number. It was also extremely difficult for them to take my credit card number and confirm my address. The second individual then passively aggressively tells me to have a nice day in a rude tone. My pizza then arrives almost in half due to it sliding all to one side of the box. I can easily say I won’t be ordering from here again.

Great service– especially the bartender, Aaron. The All Star Sandwich is tasty and filling. Fun local place with good vibe. Give it a try.

I have to write a 5 star review partly to offset the people who are out of their minds complaining about the place. I’ve been there many times. Everything I’ve ever eaten there has been good. The pizza is GREAT. The bartenders are just fine. Not rude at all. Busy, maybe. Sometimes that might come off as rude to some, I guess. Their outdoor seating area is a favorite when the weather is nice. It’s one of the best places of it’s type in the area.

While in the lovely community of Johnsburg, IL, the first question that I asked the Front Desk guy, in the lone motel in Johnsburg, was: «Where is the nearest bar?» He retorts, {Thick Wisconsin accent} ‘Haaaalftime Bawr… ya know, it’s just arounds tha cawner… walking dissance.” Sold! Wife and I tote our bodies over to the Halftime. I knew as soon as we walked in, this was my type of dive bar. Everyone looked happy, and the bartenders /servers looked as though they could double as heroin dealers. This place was great! $ 2 Miller Lite drafts, served in a plastic cup. Yep, lovin’ it! My wife’s heavily poured 7&7, $ 3 and some change. The biker guy next to me kept on raving about the pizza at Halftime. He looked like a legit food critic, so we ordered a large, thin butter crust, sausage and pepperoni pizza. Damn, was this ever a great thin crust pizza. Albeit a tad greasy, it was really that good. Outside seating. Yep, Halftime has it… and a full volleyball court, where there seemed to be some serious players. Friendly service, a really good thin crust pizza, heavy pours on liquor, and a $ 29 bar tab(pre-tip) put me in a giddy mood. If I’m ever in Johnsburg, IL again, I will definitely return. A pleasant surprise.

Bar food. All you can eat ribs is just that, you don’t get seconds on fries or slaw. Tried a pizza slice within our group and tasted yummy, could have been bc I was still waiting on my ribs… I’d try it again but not make a special effort to get there. Tons of TV’s and outdoor volleyball area.

A home away from home. Love the small town atmosphere. Not big on the pizza, but huge fan of the philly cheesesteak on garlic bread, or the quesadillas. Actually, most the food is pretty darn good. The service, friendly for the most part. Definitely quick and responsive. A great summer bar!

Years ago when we first moved to the area we tried their take out and delivery and were very happy. In the last 5 years or so we’ve had nothing but problems so we’ve stopped ordering. We ordered a pizza and some other stuff and picked up… when we got home I opened the pizza and one half of the crust had bubbled up and burned a nice crispy black and they had actually given it to us! The next time we ordered roast beef sandwiches with mozzarella cheese… which should have been golden brown but was instead charred black… and they actually put them in the containers and gave them to us like that! The last time we ordered was also take out and was a pizza… the bottom of the pizza was burnt with crispy black spots(i opened the pizza there and looked at the top which looked good, little did i know!)… and that is the last time I will order from this place without checking the food BEFORE leaving the take out area! I’ve worked in restaurants and I would have been mortified to send out food like that!

I have never actually been to half times but I have order pizza from here for delivery about a half dozen times and it is probably one of the best pizzas in the area. Delivery can be a bit spotty, for some reason they can’t always find my house and one time they didn’t find it at all and I had to cancel my order but what other options do I have… slim to none for good pizza, delivered in Johnsburg. So delivery, not that great. Pizza, pretty damn good. I especially like the thin crust. They get their crust very crispy, which I love.

Let me give you a breakdown of how my night at Halftime went. I sit down at the bar at 7:30 on a Tuesday night. Easy enough, right? Well the bartender doesn’t approach me until 7:40, 10 minutes later, to take my drink order. She takes my drink order, a Miller Light, and doesn’t deliver it until another 10 minutes! Mind you, I’ve been here for 20 minutes now and just got my first drink. At this point I’m a little livid, but proceed to order food anyways. I ordered the Halftime Big Burger. 30 minutes later it finally arrives. Here is where the disappointment really sinks in… The only thing big about Halftimes big burger is how much of a rip-off it is! For $ 9 I expect a burger of substance, not something I could find at the local fast food joint. The patty was small, under seasoned, and over cooked. On top of that, my fries were burnt! As much as I detest this place, for some reason I keep coming back. The $ 1 domestic drafts, beach volley ball in the summer, and drunken Johnsburg locals makes this bar tolerable at best.

I never have a problem with the food when I actually dine in; but I don’t remember ever getting exceptional service. I always find it that you have to wait a few minutes before anyone notices you have sat down… My one star goes to take-out. We ordered a pizza the other day and it was so burned in spots that it was barely edible. This is the black stuff that gets stuck on the bottom of the pizza when you don’t clean your oven… really black. We called in like any normal human being would do and were told that a new pizza would be coming in 20 minutes(this is already after waiting over an hour for our first pizza that was promised in 45 min.) Someone actually called a few minutes later and wanted the first burnt pizza back, which we didn’t have a problem with since so no one touched it, but that takes nerve!!! Did they not believe us? Or were they going to try and resell that pizza? I found that extremely disturbing and rude. Someone eventually called and 2 weeks letter we received gift card to use there although I’m not sure we will ever go back.

Good subs; wait great subs! Great thin crust pizzas. Cold beer(albeit served in a plastic cup) but they are one of the few places with Miller 64 on tap! The employees here are always nice and friendly and totally enjoy going here. In fact, I believe I need to stop in on Saturday. Been hankering for a turkey sub(I usually just eat half and then I have a half for lunch the next day). Can’t wait to get back there.

The ribs are FANTASTIC. After being extremely disappointed by Tammy’s service(although their ribs were good, just not worth all the hassle), we were looking for a place that delivers and had great ribs. Look no further. Worth EVERY penny. Their food prices are reasonable and the food quality is great.

Halftimes in Johnsburg is your typical sports bar. The food higher quality than most, and as long as it’s not packed and under staffed the service is pretty good for a sports bar. If you have found yourself sitting here wondering what to order try the«All-Star.» It’s a beef sandwich with mozzarella cheese, and there is something about the way they make it. The roll stays crispy on the outside but the cheese and beef make it soft and delicious when you bite in. Apps are good, burger is par, and the pizza is also very good. They have great specials on food and drinks, and this is a great place to visit in the summer time.

First off, to the person who claims a two-way mirror is in the women’s washroom, completely false. There is a TV in the mirror, and the mens room has one as well. Onto my review. Halftime has THEBEST thin crust pizza for miles around. Burgers and the beef(allstar) are also pretty good.

Good pizza and good drinks. A nice little casual place to meet with friends or grab a bite to eat after work. The drink specials are always pretty good. The only negative(to me at least) is you aren’t a UFC/MMA fan, I suggest checking their website or facebook before heading over. It can be a bit overly busy on those nights that they broadcast the fights, and whichever fight is going on will be on every single one of the 20+tv’s.
