Traditions at The Glen

I want to a spa for the first time today. I went in stressed out and came out worse than ever! The manger here that calls herself Cee-​Cee is the most disrespectful women I have ever dealt with that runs a business! They did NOT massage us as long as we paid for and did not care that we were unhappy with not just that but numerous things! My sister and I left paying $ 210 and the manager didn’t even apologize or make it right! I would never recommend this Spa to anyone!!!

I have hosted many events here and have had excellent service and experience. The hotel has wonderful accommodations and the food has been perfect.

We had our wedding here two years ago. They did an absolutely fantastic job. Every other place we looked, we’d ask a question and get «I’ll have to check with our manager and get back to you.» We’d ask the same questions at Traditions and their response was always «Sure, we can do that!» That was huge for us and actually what sold us. They were very accommodating to any requests or suggestions we had. Everything from the planning to the final song played at our reception went smoothly and we couldn’t have been happier. The room that is included with the wedding package was beautiful and quite large. Overall we were happy happy!
We have had mixed experiences with the Sunday brunch though. The morning after our wedding it wasn’t particularly busy and everything was great. Plus they comped our breakfast being we spent so much coin on our wedding there.
We went there this morning and it was a different story. While our server Tyler was GREAT… It was a little busy and the food was almost non existent at the buffet. The stuffed French toast, the stuffed croissants and the ketchup (yes the ketchup for the potatoes) were never replenished the whole time we were there. I was really hopeful to try the French toast. The last trip up to the buffet, they were out of potatoes and eggs Benedict. While the food that was there was quite good, I was a bit disappointed to say the least. For $ 18/​person, I was expecting a better experience. I don’t think I’ll ever return for the Brunch.

This review is for the hotel and I couldn’t be happier with our stay, it could not have gone better. Spring time in upstate NY and great weather, a huge putting green just steps from the entrance, mountain top views looking down on the mighty Susquehanna, what more could you ask for? The breakfast was more than suitable and the hotel had all the modern amenities along with a touch of respect paid to the olden days of IBM. It was quiet, had an adequate business office work set up, solid wifi connections and just 20 minutes from the airport. This was our second stay here and both stays have been solid. At one time I traveled for a living around the world and this hotel is a hidden gem at a reasonable rack rate. We played 18 holes for fun while we were there, it’s not Augusta and you need a cart because it is a course only a mountain goat could love but that too was enjoyable. Our hotel rate was solid too.

This review is for the Salt Sanctuary only!
As a newbie to salt therapy, I decided to try the Salt Sanctuary. I have read many reviews on salt helping to heal many skin and respiratory problems. It is also said to be a great place for relaxation. At the time of my visit, I was suffering from a mild cold due to the recent weather changes. The receptionist informed me that the salt would also help clear up my passage ways due to the cold. This was an added bonus, because I thought I would just enjoy some nice calming tones in a relaxing environment.
I was taken over to the small area where you are provided shoe and hair covers. If you are suffering from a skin condition that you would like to have treated, they offer robes so more skin is open to the salt atmosphere. I did not undress, I just put the covers on and was ready to go. They stress keeping the room as sanitary as possible so that is why they offer you the covers.
On the way into the sanctuary, they also have a smaller, kid-​friendly room. This is great because children can also enjoy salt healing for their conditions. Upon entrance to the main room, there were relaxing tones playing and it was cool in temperature. There was also ambient lighting to give the full effect. The seating provided allows you to ‘float’ back and enjoy the environment. On the back of the chairs, there are blankets just in case you get a little chilly. Salt everywhere, but you will not be covered in salt by any means. The chamber is filled with Himalayan salt and you actually can feel it as you breathe. The ventilation system pushes salt out into the room, but we are talking micros so you will not see or feel the salt.
I did a 50-​minute session and could not believe how rejuvenated I was. It was great and I did in fact breathe better afterwards. If you have conditions where salt therapy is suggested, I would give it a try. If you are looking for a new way to just relax, this would also be great. You are allowed to bring your cell phones, or magazines with you. There were three of us in the room and everyone was courteous. I would suggest not talking on the phone, but reading would be great!

This was my home for 4 months and it was a home away from home! I travel a lot and have stayed at 5 star hotels but Traditions is not a typical hotel. I like to think of it as a bed and breakfast on steroids. It’s quaint, cozy but capable of accommodating a business overnight, romantic getaway, corporate events yet looks and feels like a b&b. They have a gorgeous spa which I have yet to try but def on my bucket list as I just relocated to the area. By far one of the best continental breakfasts. Always perfectly crispy bacon! The staff by far the best in town! I was on a first name basis with almost everyone. Really made my transition to Binghamton comfortable. I still miss my stays there! If you aren’t looking for an overnight don’t forget the Tavern. The food is great! I heard they have a pasta night on Wednesdays and the price is really reasonable. So much I have yet to try there but I certainly won’t be a stranger… especially with golf season right around the corner:-)

I was really disappointed in this hotel. I went online to do some research and it looked like a really nice resort. I guess some things can be deceiving.
We stayed at the hotel because some friends were getting married in the area and there were no rooms at any other hotel available. (Let me just say that the wedding was not at Traditions. This will play an important part later in my review.) We got there around 1:30 after driving 3 hours from our home town. The wedding started at 4:30 so we wanted to get in and get ready. We gave the person at the front desk our name and told them the name of the wedding we were staying there for just in case the bride had left directions or anything else and he informed us that check in was at 3 but we asked if there was any chance we could get in earlier. He was so rude and informed us that check in was at 3. I was not pleased and kind of cranky from being in the car for three hours so I might have not been very pleasant when I asked him to check if the room was ready. He called the house cleaner and she informed him she was almost ready. We decided we would wait because I had no trust in the gentleman but there wasn’t really a lobby to wait. My husband asked if there was a bar or restaurant to wait at and the man informed him they were closed. Its Saturday in the afternoon by the way.
We got to our room and it was pretty tiny. I have actually stayed in hotel rooms in NYC bigger than this. At this point I am so irritated I just decide to get ready and get to the wedding as soon as possible. My husband took a shower and for the first 2 minutes there was no water pressure. I remember him saying I pee faster than this lol.
We had a great time at the wedding by the way. The Link at Hiawatha Landing was beautiful. While talking to the bride, she informed us she had not had the most pleasant time at Traditions while getting ready. The bride asked me if we received our welcome bag with the shuttle to the wedding information. I had informed her that we had not. She than got irritated and told us about her experience that morning. She had used the Spa to get pampered and that was fine. She had requested a suite and they game her a small room just like ours. The bride than went on to tell us that after her and her bridal party were ready they had there photographer take some photos. Pretty standard for any bride. While outside an employee came up to the bride and said, «Oh you look so beautiful. Where is your wedding?» The bride informed her that it was at another site and the employee went back inside. I couple seconds later the GM came out and asked her photographer for her card. The bride had assumed that it was to give to other brides but than she realized that the GM was yelling at her photographer telling her she needs to leave and she is going to make sure no other wedding uses her. The bridal party was so in shock that they went upstairs, got their stuff and waited for their ride. While waiting, the GM approached the bride outside and apologized for being so stern to her photographer but they cant let the other bride see another bride there taking pictures. My friend than informed the GM that she booked the hotel, informed the employees it was for a getting ready for her wedding, used all their Spa services and they were well aware that she was going to be taking photos. Also that this would be the first and last time she stayed there.
When we got back to the room that night, our welcome bag was on the night stand.
One other note. When you get your bill, it will say sales tax AND room and bed tax. No idea what that is for.

The spa at Traditions is a wonderful place with professional, talented staff. I have had hair cuts, color, pedicure and a facial there. Heather is AMAZING and gave me the best haircut I’ve ever had along with fabulous color. The salt sanctuary is also really cool and relaxing. Thank you!!! I would rate you 6 stars if I could!

I’m from Binghamton and so I traveled there to visit my mom for Mother’s Day. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Traditions and got the impression that it’s THE place for the upper crust of Broome County.
I was excited when I got the opportunity to eat here for Mother’s Day brunch buffet. The inside was beautiful and the first thing I noticed was that they were giving flowers out to mothers. When we were seated neither my mother not my grandmother were offered a flower
We waited about 20 minutes for our drink orders to be taken. The table next to us arrived after we did and got their drink order taken immediately. When the girl did show up (the waitstaff was very young and seemed to be inexperienced) she asked what we wanted to drink. I had just heard another waiter tell a table that moms got free mimosas. I asked the waitress if there were any drink specials. She said «uh yeah moms get one free mimosa». I ordered a diet coke.
When the girl came back with the mimosas she said «would you like to order anything to drink?» So I ordered a diet coke again.
She came back 5 minutes later «uh what did you order again?» So I ordered my diet coke… again.
Finally it showed up. The food was delicious but our plates piled up without anyone taking them. No one offered us coffee so we had to flag someone down. It took 30 minutes to get our check and another 10 minutes afterward for her to pick it up.
When we were leaving I asked the hostess if my mom and grandmother could have a flower… she said yes.
My traditions experience proves you don’t get what you don’t ask for. We never asked for someone to bus our table so it wasn’t taken care of. We only got flowers and the mimosas because I asked. My soda I got after I asked 3 times.
Another reviewer commented on Easter brunch service being bad too. If this is supposed to be an example of fine dining in the Binghamton area, can you hire an experienced wait staff? This staff did not do.

Total: 3– would I go back? Probably not. There are restaurants in the area that also have good food with much better service. Do they think they can skimp on service, because people will eat here regardless because it’s Traditions?

On Easter Sunday we returned with my family for the buffet.(although it wasn’t
my parents or my first since then). Service is better at a Friendly’s than what we
received today. For starters we went to get salads first… when we finished we proceeded to get the rest of our meal. To our surprise when we sat down to eat our meal– the table had been cleared! (Seriously?!) 10 minutes later we received silverware and a half assed apology… apparently that pissed them off because NO ONE came to the table unless we flagged them down for the remainder of the meal. I actually cleared our table so that we could have desert. (that’s right– the CUSTOMER CLEARED THEIR TABLE!)
I sincerely hope that if a Casino goes there they train the staff accordingly because I for sure won’t go back ever! Except maybe the Spa… MAYBE.

After hearing several people rave about the brunch here, my family and I came in here today to give it a try. None of us were impressed. For $ 16 this wasn’t what I was expecting at all. There were ONLY breakfast foods. The most «exotic» choice was grits. The only beverages we were offered were coffee, tea, and juice.
Although the food was good, this was a big disappointment for the name of brunch. More than that we were pretty much rushed out as they began setting up for a wedding reception.

Reviewing the Tavern:
Our server was very professional and personable. Unfortunately, that was not enough to make up for the incomprehensible meals we were served. The roasted vegetable bisque soup that we were served was separated and unbearably salty. Both entrees were overcooked. And I defy their «chef» to explain the chunk of boiled broccoli stalk literally buried in cheap shaker cheese. Seriously? I would have taken photos, but someone might have mistaken it for «food porn», and even Linda Lovelace wouldn’t have swallowed any of this.
To add insult, our bill for what we did have was overcharged almost $ 20 on a $ 29 total.
The view however was excellent.

How the Spa at Traditions hasn’t been rated is beyond me, as it surpasses any of the local day spas rated here.
A complete spa menu is offered, with services including massage, air brush tanning, manicures, pedicures, facials, body treatments, and hair care, as well as the salt sanctuary. I just had my first visit here for a pregnancy massage, so my comments relate more to the overall experience than the services. The massage itself was good — exactly what I anticipated, with the therapist using a nice combination of heat and very lightly scented products (they do offer an aromatherapy massage if that’s your preference). I loved the special pillow they used, which allowed me to lay comfortably on my belly for part of the massage.
What makes Traditions superior is the experience. All the staff I came into contact with were professional and welcoming. I tend to be hesitant about new places involving disrobing and/​or locker rooms. But the staff explained everything I needed to know, where to wait, etc., and there were clear instructions in the locker room about how to use the showers, where to put your towels, etc. I felt very comfortable being there.
The locker room was clean, with private steam showers and plenty of amenities. Sandals, robes, and towels are all provided. It’s nice to visit a spa where you can shower without having to pack a bag of supplies. A small relaxation room is available to enjoy before and after your service (s), with a gas fire, magazines, yummy iced tea, and trail mix. It’s the perfect way to extend your stay and relax a little longer.
Yes, you will pay a premium price for services as compared to other local salons. But if you are looking for something truly special where you can have more of an experience than just running in and out for a service, this is the place to go.

My husband and I stayed here on our wedding night, so my husband set up something special for that night. He asked for a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to be in our room when we came back that night, because it is our wedding night! We got there and Traditions at the glen had failed to do something that was so important on our wedding night!!! We were also very disappointed with the way that they handled it. When we checked out of our room they gave us a small brown bag with 2 bottles of water and snacks for the road to make up for it!!! I feel like that only made it worse! Since we were getting married and staying there, I had my entire bridal party get their hair and makeup done at the hotel salon. That being said, we were spending a lot of money at the hotel and this was the least they could do?! Water and chips? The hotel was very nice and we liked the room, but this just put a bad taste in our mouth and we left feeling VERY disappointed and felt like they did not really take responsibility for dropping the ball.

Always a stay when visiting the area, Traditions has beautiful grounds and a hotel with a grand history. We stayed in a standard room with king bed: a little cramped with that size bed. Little walking room, especially when someone is sitting at the desk. Complimentary breakfast is very nice.
This was a Christmas visit and the snow did not disappoint. Snow removal was very good, however. We enjoyed snow on the 26^th, so we hunkered down and dined in. Very intimate setting, with friendly wait staff. The lamb chops and the pork chop were delicious.

overlooking Binghamton the countryclub/​inn-​esque Traditions also offers a Sunday brunch. I was with my colleage professor & was given a seniors discount of $ 13.95 for the brunch & $ 3 extra for the bloody Mary/​Mimosa. The omelette was superb, and I agree with the other reviewer that you shd probably skip the mediocre scrmabled eggs/​sausage/​stuffed French toast and go straight to the omelette station. Coffee was very much diner-​grade coffee, but our serveur was attentive. Oveall a pleasant experience.

I recently came here for an amazing wedding. I stayed at Traditions for a total of 4 nights.
The first thing I have to say is that they had the most comfortable beds ever. The next thing I remembered was that the staff was incredibly helpful. When my friends and I needed recommendations on where to get drunk in town they knew exactly where to send us.
The only reason I don’t give them 5 stars is because they didn’t have a pool.
Highly recommended.

How to rate them??? I’ve had lunches here, that were fabulous. Their pastries have always been good. I love that Traditions is here, they have a spa, it’s a beautiful setting.
Breakfast is okay… Don’t bother with the scrambled eggs, home-​fries or sausage. Have them make you an omelet, their fresh mini waffles or a blueberry pancake. Don’t waste your appetite on the other items. Coffee, juice, fresh fruit and their yummy pastries are included. For the price, their brunch is okay. It’s not as grand a brunch as other places might offer, but it’s $ 15.00, too.

We stayed here for my friends wedding last July. It’s a beautiful hotel and the rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. We had a great time!

My family and I got a chance to try the Sunday Brunch at Traditions at the Glen. The room itself was very nice — bright and spacious. The buffet consists of an omelet station with ham, a variety of veggies and two kinds of cheese. There is a carving station which featured honey baked ham and a belgium waffle and pancake station. I didn’t try the pancakes but my family said they were very good. The rest of the buffet included standard fare such as bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and potatoes. There was also a table set up with a variety of pastries and mixed fruit. I didn’t try the pastries because honestly, they didn’t look very appetizing.
Overall, the food was good. My family and I all agreed that some of the items were a little too greasy for our liking. The variety was nice but the quality wasn’t quite what we expected. I do have to mention that I liked the coffee. I am quite the coffee snob so when an establishment has a crappy cup of coffee, I’m not too happy. So Traditions passed that test!
The service was average at best. I only saw two servers in the entire room taking drink orders and taking plates. Granted, there was a group from a wedding party that showed up in the middle of our brunch so maybe that’s why it seemed a little on the slow side. Still, an establishment like this should have plenty of staff around to help.
I’m not sure I would go back to this brunch. I do have a buy one, get one free coupon so perhaps I’ll give it another try in a few months. For the $ 15.95 they charge, I expected a little more out of it.
