My wife and I love the breakfast here. They are the spot for a hot, generous delicious breakfast. Their lunch and«dinner» meals are just ok. Stick their breakfast and you won’t go wrong.

This review is based on multiple experiences at Emmily’s. Sometimes it’s great, sometimes not so much. Once I had a coffee mug with lipstick on the rim… yummy. I’ve eaten some amazing breakfasts and I’ve had some bland blah. It’s too inconsistent to give a higher rating. Take a roll o’ the dice and eat here. You may or may not regret it.

We came here this last Mother’s Day. They were clearly overwhelmed, but I’m willing to give any place slack for such a busy day. The staff performed heroically and went above and beyond to accommodate. The food was worth the wait. Everyone in our party of 9 enjoyed their breakfasts. The hash is homemade and they make a fantastic bloody mary.

Would not even give this place one star if i could. Went in for breakfast, service was extremely slow. My boyfriend ordered and orange juice, glass he was given had lipstick all over it so the bartender took it away. Set it down behind the bar(without dumping it out) a few minutes later another server came behind the bar took the orange juice, filled it with ice and drank it! Using the same straw! Disgusting. Food came and everything tasted terrible. Would never return.

Shannon B. hit the nail on the head with her review. Emmily’s indeed has an identity crisis. A breakfast place with a Coors light neon sign? They sometimes serve dinner? I don’t get it. I never know when they’re open. Even when they are, the place is so dark from the outside, you cant tell if they’re open. The place has a beautiful well lit front door, but don’t use that door. This place needs work. I’m glad someone took over The Little Inn, and I hope Emmily’s does well, but I think they rushed in to this building. The breakfasts I’ve had were pretty good, and the one dinner I had was ok. nothing to write home about. It’s a better alternative to Denny’s.

Words cannot describe what we have been through today here. We had a 12 pm reservation and left at 3 pm for Mothers Day. Had to wait an hour to sit and another 1 ½ hours to eat. My sister and dad, son and girlfriend and mother in law had to leave in the middle for other commitments without eating. It was awful. The waitress was great, and knew that they were backed up. There’s nothing she could do. She broke down crying to us, she felt so bad. My mother in law was so disgusted with the wait and lack of customer service from the OWNER, not the waitress, that she tried to walk home. The whole family was broken up. We were looking forward to a nice meal out and it turned into a horror show. I cried when I got home. No Mothers Day should be like this. They were greedy and overbooked. The OWNER doesn’t know what she’s doing! She had NO remorse! I tried to talk with her. Please don’t go in here! You will be SORRY!!!

We’ve been sitting here on Mothers Day for 2 ½ hours. There’s not one person in the dining room with a fork in their hand. They overbooked reservations and we e heard numerous people come out in the lobby and say the food sucked. This place is a disaster. Stay away!

The website and Unilocal both said it was open, as well as the sign outside at 3:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday. They were closing up for the day, and we showed the woman what the website and Unilocal said, and she said«too bad». That’s what you can expect from this place. The reviews that give it one or two stars seem pretty accurate

After driving by Here numerous times I decided to bring the family here for breakfast. We definitely arrived right in time because shortly after we sat there was a large line. A testament to how good the food is. Our waitress was great. She was friendly and efficient. She made sure our coffees were kept full. Three of us ordered coffees, and three breakfasts. The bacon was crisp. The home fries were cooked as requested and the portions were decent sized. My only thing is that it seemed to take a while to get our food. If your in a hurry and don’t have time to linger then you may want to skip it. If you have time to have a leisurely tasty breakfast this is a great option.

They used to be a great breakfast spot and weekend dinners till they moved to this location. Boring Atmosphere now, increased prices. They should have stayed in Fruit Hill Plaza.

Eh. Nothing exciting to talk about here. Came in for dinner on a Friday night. Went against better judgement and ordered a steak. I ordered it Medium and it came out closer to the well side. Was with the kids so I didnt feel like sending it back. They werent in the best of, uh, moods that evening. The mashed potatoes that it came with were pretty good. Kids had a burger and chicken tenders. Neither were too impressed. The fries that it came with were ok. Wife had lobster ravioli that was recommended by the waitress. She liked it well enough but we decided we probably wouldnt come back for dinner. Breakfast seems to be the way to go. The wife came with the kids one day while I was at work and they really enjoyed it.

Service is very very slow! I waited so long for breakfast and when I finally get it– it’s not even what I ordered! They did offer to take it back– but I said no– I’ve waited long enough! Eggs were cold and bacon was over cooked! Second time I’ve left their upset! Won’t be a third!

Went for breakfast with my aunt and uncle for a late breakfast. We were greeted immediately and our drinks were at our table a moment later. By the way, they make a great bloody mary. The prices are very reasonable and our food came out fresh, hot and the way we ordered it. Don’t believe all the negative reviews, go and judge for yourself. I’ll definitely be back and try lunch next time.

Emmily’s is a breakfast place with an identity crisis. They recently moved from a bright(if sparse) space on Smith St. to a cavernous, outdated banquet facility on the Smithfield line. They advertise breakfast all day, and they aren’t kidding… their breakfast menu is 6 pages long! The food is standard diner — style fare: nothing is remarkable, or outstanding, but it fits the bill for breakfast. Price range is moderate. The service is good, but the coffee is weak. The ladies’ bathroom was not well-kept(flickering bulb, busted TP holder, overflowing trash), even though the dining area was mostly empty, and the waitstaff were searching for things to refill. Overall, an odd breakfast experience, not unlike a visit to grandma’s house… nothing is great, things are outdated and sort of unkempt, but everyone’s so damn nice that you know you’ll probably be back. The stars are for service alone.

I went to breakfast around 10:30 during the week with my boyfriend. First of all we didn’t know which door to go into. We got in and got seated right away, the hostess said«your waitress will be right with you». 25 minutes later and not one single person had even acknowledged our existence. We made the decision that we wanted to leave because we actually wanted to eat. On the way out I said something to the women at the hostess station(not the same one who seated us) I said«I just wanted to let you know that we have been waiting and no one ever came over to our table». She looked at me very confused and asked«what do you mean? » …“I mean we sat there for 25 minutes and no one said a single world to us, we are leaving and won’t be coming back”. Her only response was«are you sure?» And then we walked out. The restaurant itdelf needs some improvements. It was very dark and very poorly set up. Everything was very outdated. The think that probably aggravated me the most about the situation was the fact that they weren’t even busy, less then half of tables ppb the place had people sitting at them. We left and ended up going to Scrambles and it was great!

One of the best hash and cheese omelettes I’ve ever had! The three different doors to enter the restaurant make things confusing(should probably designate one door!). I love how I can call and order breakfast to go! My order was wrong one time and they fixed it immediately. I have dined in three times and take out once. I have never been disappointed in the food! Portion sizes are large and the food is always hot!

Since Emmily’s has moved I guess I’ll have to re-write my review. All these negative reviews here… and yet, I’ve never had a bad meal or service, and every time I go the place is absolutely PACKED. The only time you’ll wait more than 15 minutes for food is if you go at peak brunch time on the weekend. The longest I ever waited for food was the weekend they opened. I think we waited 20 minutes.(remember folks, people are more likely to rant about one bad experience than share a good one, and this is a high volume place) They have THEBEST huevos rancheros, served over a huge toasted tortilla. They know how to poach an egg, so the eggs benedict and florentine are excellent. The stuffed french toast, pancakes and waffles(omg the pumpkin waffle) are all delicious. The portions are huge, and you’re paying diner prices for food that’s better than most of those fancy brunch places. Breakfast for two is usually under $ 20. All of the waitstaff are are so nice and go out of their way to be helpful. They all work hard and there’s no goofing off. My one complaint is that they need to decide which door they’re going to use as the main entrance and stick with it!

Made the mistake of coming here today for breakfast. My order was wrong, the orange juice had turned and we waited 30 minutes for our food. When I said something the server was incredibly rude their excuse was its busy being busy is no excuse for a wrong order and spoiled food. It’s breakfast if you can’t do it fast and do it right you are in the wrong business. I wish I could have given negative stars

I had been going to Emmily’s sense they opened on Smith St. And at Smith St. The service was good, food came out in a timely manner and was good. After they moved to Johnston everything has gone downhill, both times we went there, we were seated pretty quick(after we figured out which of the 3 doors to enter), the waitstaff were nice and polite except one who was chewing gum the whole time and the owner who calls everyone honey or sweety, the food however was slow coming out, the first time I ordered a steak, cheese and mushroom omlette and the steak was so over cooked I almost chipped a tooth trying to eat a piece the second time and rediculously screwed up bringing french toast instead of pancakes, hash instead of bacon. I also attended a party that was set up buffet style and they did not have enough food set up, once they were out of an item they would bring out small plates with a couple on it to the tables instead of filling the try up again, not sure how that is buffet style. I also over heard the person who hosted the party was charged twice the tip because there was two waitresses which is completely rediculous as that would be a 40% tip. I do not think they were ready for such a big increase in size and it is to bad because they used to be good.

Do not go stay away!!! So we wanted to try Emmilys since under new management and decided to go around 11:50am after church. We waited 20 minutes to be seated, not bad for a Sunday brunch. Our waitress was excellent very friendly attentive and professional. It is now 12:55 and we still have not gotten our food. This is one reason why we wouldn’t come back with the old management because it was the same problem always took at least an hour to be served. After one hour we were just informed our waitress is new and they could not make our order because they aren’t serving lunch food. It is now 1pm. We just waited an hour only to be told we had to order something else. We walked out worst restaurant ever!!!

Very odd that the review I originally posted a few months back is no longer on here. It seems as if the Unilocal page for emmilys got a «fresh» start. Not that it helped it much, but anyhoo I guess I’ll repost the abridged version of my previous review. Got there early. Needed to be somewhere for 1pm. The eggs took WAY too long and time was cutting too close. I tell waitress to cancel order. She says it’ll just be another minute and if it cud be to go. Reluctantly I say yes. She forgets plastic utensils saying they’re out n gives us the SILVERWARE to take home. I literally inhaled my food in the car to make it on time. Poor customer service when it wasn’t even busy.

Wow what can I say about this place… well they recently moved from their previous location so, if you are looking for them on Smith St they have moved to the former Little Inn in Johnston. I never went to the Little Inn or the old location, however I can’t imagine how difficult it is for a restaurant to relocate to the space of a long running, well established restaurant with very little time to make it their own. I went to a retirement party with 15 other people. Apparently there was another retirement party elsewhere in the restaurant. First, parking was atrocious. I parked behind the fire station next door, luckily no one objected. So I walk in by myself. There are two entrances, one for the bar area and one for the rest of the restaurant. I chose the one for the bar area. We had reservations, obviously 16 people shouldn’t walk into a restaurant and expect to sit down. But the tables weren’t set. There was clearly a table set up for us but it was lacking placemats, water glasses, bread plates etc… in fact I think a few did have those but not all. I had to ask for placemats… they gave us bread without bread plates. Were we supposed to use our napkins? Seriously service at this place is dismal. At one point I felt like I was watching bar rescue or one of those shows where the expert yells at people because they are terrible at their job. The owner/manager was behind the bar and said to a customer, are you this kids father? The kid was a busboy and he looked to be in high school. The guy responded, yes. The owner/manager said because he doesn’t respect his elders. In front of the kid, the party of 15 who I was part of, 2 other customers who had clearly seen enough, and 2 employees. You could feel the air leave the room in one fled swoosh. Obviously it was busy, it was the first week of being open, clearly the owner/manager was stressed. But to me that is a giant red flag. Just stay away from this place, the food wasn’t terrible, the prices weren’t bad but the service is so disorganized that I doubt I will be going back.

Went there with my girlfriend for the first time today, place wasn’t very packed. Breakfast all day is definitely a great option. The huevos rancheros was a huge plate and was very good. Every item that we tried was done well and tasty. Reasonable pricing, for the two of us it was $ 27(including tip). We will be back to try more options, would reccomend.
