I love the custom table we had made by Rustic Elements. We had help determining the best style for our space and there were so many options to customize. It was done exactly on time and turned out beautiful!

I feel that an appropriate review for Rustic Elements is needed. The level of craftsmanship, communication, skill– I rarely think that a business is so stellar as these guys. I will tell you why I am writing this.
I came into 2 raw slabs of American Elm, live edge a few years ago. I wanted to make a live edge table– and shamelessly copy much, much more expensive versions at Room and Board and other top end stores. Scott and I communicated via email, text, phone regarding the wood and I finally made the drive down to Joliet. A few weeks later, my 2-​slabs were perfectly finished, bookmatched to perfection, and I had a wonderful table top. I had my own legs– and now I have a table that looks like a masterpiece.
Fast forward– I wanted an edgy coffee table. I had some bowling alley lane, wood. I thought it would be different, but cool for a loft. I went down again, for the master finishing. Scott and company could have finished the wood to perfection, but stressed that I was pouring money into a non-​finish quality work. I had no choice but to trust them. I didnt want to pour thousands of dollars into something that would look 50% as good as my imagination had made it out to be. After careful consultation, I ended up going with a Rustic-​made end grain butcher block top for my 2-​tier coffee table. Again, the quality was perfection. I have a one of a kind table that is simply terrific. See pictures– and direct message me for any questions regarding these guys work.

I can’t say enough great things about Rustic Elements. Scott was awesome to deal with the entire process from start to finish. It was crazy how he literally knew exactly what I wanted with our table. Our table is absolutely beautiful. The level of distress: perfect. The stain: perfect. The table completes our room and is just stunning. Delivery was awesome, so easy, the guys were great. Thank you for such an awesome process. We are SO HAPPY with this purchase!

OUR. TABLE. IS. AMAZING!!! Seriously, I wake up every day and just stare at in in my kitchen and run my hands over it. Is it possible to be completely in love with a table? Because I am! I think my husband might be getting slightly jealous. My 2 year old excitedly shouts «New Table» and «New Bench» every time he sees them. All he wants to do is climb on the bench and sit at the table. (The table even provides babysitting services! Wowza!) It is the first thing people notice when they walk into our condo.
I needed a custom table built for our unique dinning nook in our condo. I wanted a table that was solid and could withstand a 2 year old banging and climbing on it. (I feel like the standard big box stores such as Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel use wood & finishes that are too soft and cause the tables to easily ding.) Our table is made out of solid wood using a restaurant grade finish. It is super heavy and sturdy and absolutely stunning.

We ordered a dinning room table as well as a desk from here last summer. They both turned out beautifully! We really wanted something that was unique and made of great quality. The folks here are great to work with. Their stuff is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. We will definitely be coming back for a kitchen table in the near future!

This review is way too long coming! We got our table and could not be more pleased!!! It is just absolutely fabulous! Scott was so great to work with, he really loves what he’s doing and definitely strives to make sure you get the table you want! We looked all over the place for a table, the big name stores and our table blows those out of the water, it’s sturdier, more durable and hands down a lot nicer:) the table was slightly more expensive than others we looked at but well worth it! You should definitely go check out Scott’s shop, he’s happy to show you tables he’s working on and help you choose yours!

After our children managed to destroy an Ashley Furniture kitchen table within two years, we knew we had to find a table that could withstand the punishment of three mini-​tornados. Fortunately, we found Rustic Elements. Scott was very patient in listening to our needs and building us the table we wanted. I did go out to his showroom to look at the tables, but you could find the table style you want and order from just looking at the pictures on the website. The quality of the table is better than anything I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend Rustic Elements if you want a kitchen table that will outlive you.

At this point, it seems another 5 star review is just redundant. However, we could not be more delighted with our new, custom made table. Scott was able to create an heirloom quality table, custom made to suit our taste and style and able to expand to accommodate 18 –20 dinner guests. The hassle-​free process was worth every penny.

We fell in love with the tables at Restoration Hardware but were horrified when I read online reviews about how the tables literally split down the seams if you so much as spill a glass of water on them. Enter Rustic Elements. Scott and his team were able to recreate the look I was going for but in a significantly higher quality product. I love how we were able to customize everything from size to color to the amount of distressing. We also had our family name engraved on the side of the table (such a nice touch!). From the initial meeting with Scott to the friendly and efficient delivery guys, the experience was top notch. Everyone that comes over comments on how gorgeous the table is and now that we’ve had it for 6 months and hosted everything from kids playdate meals to Christmas dinner on the table, I can attest to the amazing quality. We have 3 kids under the age of 6 and the table is in perfect condition after lots of bumps and spills. You will not regret the decision to get a beautiful custom piece of furniture from Rustic Elements. Highly highly recommend!

Scott and his crew are simply amazing. We had them make 2 tables and we could not be anymore pleased. Yes, they are more expensive than your typical furniture store, but the quality is far superior. I expect that we’ll have these tables for 30+ years. So in that time we would have gone through many inferior tables. Buy it right the first time. Will be cheaper in the long run. Also nothing quite like supporting a product made by American hands with skill and care.

My wife and I had been looking for a table for a long time and not finding what we wanted – simple, Shaker lines, durable, made in America, quality craftsmanship. We looked at many mid– and fairly high-​end furniture stores and just weren’t finding anything we liked. I’m not sure where my wife heard of Rustic Elements Furniture, but we decided to make the drive, and we ended up with a table that exceeded all of our hopes and expectations. When we met with Scott in his workshop he answered all of our questions about his process and materials really patiently and asked us some useful questions in return that helped us clarify exactly what we wanted in terms of size, shape, and materials for both a table and chairs. He was able to show us different kinds of wood and finishes, and when we left we had a really good feeling about his work. Over the next several days we emailed him a bunch of follow up questions, and he always answered thoughtfully and in ways that helped guide us toward a decision about a table and chairs that we felt good about. The end product arrived earlier than he had estimated, and the two guys who came for delivery were quick, friendly, and knowledgeable. The table itself is the biggest reason for the five stars, though. It is solid, sturdy, and exactly what we asked for. The wood is beautiful, the finish is well done, the chairs are solid as rocks with quality hardware, and the piece honestly just feels like the substantial piece of furniture we had been searching for. Start to finish, a great experience. The final product was not cheap, but after looking at so many tables and sets in various stores, I honestly believe that the value for dollar is exceptional; we look forward to having this table as a centerpiece in our home for many years to come.

After looking for an expandable rustic table for months with no luck, we luckily found Scott and a Rustic Elements. Scott listened to our needs, showed us sample finishes and built us a 100% custom table for 6 with expandable leaves for up to 12 which we love. The finished product was well worth the wait and cost and will last for generations.

Scott is the man! We’ve had our table for a month now, and it is by far the best purchase that we’ve made for our new home. I don’t know why you would go anywhere else for a table. My wife and I really enjoyed the process of picking out the details for it as well. Scott is very personable and will get it done for you.
It’s nice to see somebody do quality work that they take great pride in. That makes it that much more enjoyable for us. We know that somebody spent 16 weeks working on our table and putting their touch on it. Very high quality workmanship. I’m guessing this won’t be our last purchase with Rustic. Thanks again guys!

We were getting out kitchen completely remodeled and I knew that I did not want a run of the mill, cookie cutter dining table. I was on Craigslist one day looking for dining tables/​table makers and found Scott and the REF website and table pictures jumped out at me, they were solid, they were rustic, they were locally made, everything that I wanted from the looks of it and more.
I remember calling my hubby and saying «I found our dining table», as someone who loves to cook, to me personally my kitchen is the heart of my house. It feels like everyone always end up in the kitchen, at my table, so I wanted something big enough to accommodate that, without taking over the kitchen., I wanted something that my husband, our girls and I, not to mention anyone who comes to my home will enjoy.
I called Scott, explained what I wanted and he was so polite and patient and answered every single question and concern of mine, and believe me when I say I had lots of questions, so many emails were sent with questions and he was patient with every single one, there were instances where I emailed and called about the same question and still got clear, concise and helpful answers.
Scott suggested laying out magazines on the floor, to help me get a pretty clear picture of what size to order, when he suggested it I was a tad iffy, but what do you know, it helped me get an accurate idea of the size I needed, and today with the table in my kitchen, I sure am glad I listened to Scott’s suggestion and measured it that way.
We also went over the wood and I chose all hickory, I have a 15 and 18 year old and we needed something solid, something that would hold up to them.
Our table and chairs were ordered sight unseen, and as a matter of fact about a month or so before the deadline for delivery, my kitchen was done and I chose a burnt orange for the walls. So my original plans of a brownish red table with red chairs would have clashed with the walls, and I emailed Scott. He had absolutely no issues with letting me change my specifications just a tad, and staining the chairs the same color as the table, I also explained how I wanted more of a «brownish red» instead of a «reddish brown» and he said it would not be an issue.
12 weeks from the date I placed my order, my table was delivered and assembled by Tyler & Sagen, and it was everything I had thought my kitchen table would be and more. Tyler & Sagen were running a little late and they called ahead and explained/​apologized about the delay, but it’s not like I was going anyplace, the only thing on my program for Saturday was «the dining table!!!» They assembled it pretty quickly, even warned me that it might be noisy, and before I knew it they were done and my table was up.
I honestly do not think that I can be more thrilled with the final product, with my awesome kitchen table, the chairs, the bench!
Every single aspect of it, the specifications, the size, the color, the distressing, the staining, the chair style… and the absolutely perfect shade of ‘brownish red’ that I wanted, every single detail is perfect, just perfect. It is solid wood and I just know that it is going to be the heart of my kitchen & home for many many years to come.

There was a backlog due to the incessant rain and flooding, when I placed the order the wait was 13 weeks, and the table was here in 12, but I have to honestly say it was totally worth it, something about ‘good things come to those that wait” and a dining table from Scott & Rustic Elements Furniture is a very good thing!

As everyone else stated they are great. Scott works with you to completely customize your table. Uses High end finishes and something else rarely found in today’s furniture fabrication, «real wood». The table looks like the strongest thing in the house. Would highly recommend to friends and family.
Ps. Their is a backlog and it will take some patients to receive your furniture (like 16 weeks). Well worth it.

I was referred to Rustic Elements Furniture by a friend after admiring his stunning dining room table. I then spent countless hours scrolling through the photo albums on the website, dreaming of having a table of my own.
It took a Black Friday special to finally get me to take the first step of calling the shop, and it was an excellent decision. We then visited the shop in Joliet, which I highly recommend. Scott took the time to show us samples of the different wood types, stains, finish options, and leg widths. He also had some recently finished items on display in the front of the shop and showed us what different chairs would look like around a table.
Our table is flush leg with an ebony finish and a distress level of 8. Basically, the table looks like it was dragged out of a field and spit shined before ending up in our dining room (which is exactly the look we were going for!!). From the exposed bolts, to the scuffed edges of the chairs, to the visible tool marks on the table surface, this dining set is a striking work of art. It’s also a solid piece of furniture that you can set a glass of ice water on without fear of destroying it. It will definitely outlast us and probably future generations as well.
As another reviewer mentioned, we researched tables at the usual places (always made in other countries with questionable resources and shipped to the US), and the total price of the dining set from Rustic Elements was comparable to major retailers (factoring in how ridiculously expensive chairs are). However, the quality is so much better, it’s handcrafted, you are supporting a local business, AND you end up with a unique piece of furniture that you helped to design!
From the first phone call, to our shop visit, to the communication while we waited the table to arrive, Scott was awesome. He’s friendly, honest, and really knows his craft. To top it all off, the delivery guys were prompt, friendly, efficient, and courteous. They had the table set up in no time, polished it up, snapped a few photos to document their handiwork, and the guys even took off their shoes because it was raining out! (Not to mention, the table and chairs already had the little felt pads on the bottom to protect our wood floors.)
I guess I just can’t heap enough praise on Scott and his business. Thank you for such a wonderful addition to our home, and we look forward to adding more pieces to our collection in the near future!

I rarely give perfect scores but Rustic Elements made it easy.
I spent a ton of money on our last dining room table from a large big name retail store. Boy did I feel stupid when it scratched just by blowing on it. I mean really, it was a delicate piece of furniture.
When we sold our dining room table to the people purchasing our house, I couldn’t be happier — I now had a reason to go to Rustic Elements. I found them on craigslist a few years ago and followed their web site.
When we were ready, I made an appointment to go out to their shop and see their work in person. It was so exciting getting to pick out every aspect of our table.
We LOVE our table and chairs. Scott was patient and answered all our questions. I loved working with someone who was excited about what he does.
For around what we spent at that evil retail store (maybe less) we bought a SOLID table that Im sure we could host a dance party on. I love that its solid wood, no veneer. We went a little rustic but not a ton. Although it will be hard to scratch — if we do make a mark it will just blend right in.
They actually got it done a week or two ahead of the scheduled time. Their delivery crew was great, super nice and helpful. We get a ton of compliments on the set. Well done! 5 Stars! A+! Highly recommend.

I was looking on Craigs List for a quality used table, but I fell in love with the tables on the Rustic Elements website instead. It took me six months to drag my husband out to Joliet to agree, but the table was worth the wait.
The beauty and craftsmanship aside, I cannot adequately express how awesome it is to have a table to fit the room PERFECTLY. My dining room is a pass through to the rest of the house, so I wanted it as BIG as possible, without seeming like a giant speed bump in the middle of my house. Now that it’s here, I realize that a custom table was really the only solution, and I’m happy I had it locally made, by a small business.
What they built is perfect. A narrow 39″, but long enough for 8 to sit comfortably. Scott properly managed the husband/​wife debate over color and options. He was also readily available via email and phone, which is somewhat rare for someone that also is crafting the furniture, but was extremely helpful.
The cost was roughly 30% more than a generic store bought table — and then we upgraded to Hickory, so it ended up being 70% more — oops!
But at the end of the day, it is OBVIOUSLY a high-​end custom table and when people walk through my dining room, they say «WOW» versus «did you get this at World Market?»
… and there are no speed bumps in my house.

This review is way overdue, as we’ve had our kitchen table for at least a year now I think. I found his website from a Craigslist ad and the rest is history.
So what makes this special? First, you’re involved in the entire process of having your piece made. For us, we needed a kitchen table. We were able to visit his workshop, look at examples of table lengths, widths, degree of distressing on the wood, various stains, etc. You can literally pick and choose each option to your preference.
After a few weeks, the table was finished, delivered and assembled by Scott and his crew. He even gave tips about the type of wood and finish that was used, and how to clean and maintain the table.
Fantastic service, quality of materials and craftsmanship. Could not have had a better experience!
