History

Established in 1953.

The Lighthouse Diner was first mentioned in Jupiter town documents as the «Pure Oil Truck Stop,» was in Town Commission minutes dated July 15, 1955. Durkee’s Pure Oil Truck Stop paid the Town $ 15.00 for a business license. It is not known if this is the establishment that later came to be called the Jupiter Pure Oil Truck Stop, which included the Lighthouse Restaurant, but the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s website does indicate that the current Old Lighthouse Restaurant building was built in 1955.

One thing we do know for sure is that Jupiter residents are ecstatic that the Lighthouse Diner in Jupiter has reopened! It’s rich history is part of so many good memories for residents and travelers alike. Even with the much needed renovations, the original structure remains intact. So please visit us and enjoy a retro atmosphere along with some excellent food, served by a friendly staff!
