Mr. Pineapple is agriculture certified and famous for exporting fresh Maui Gold Pineapples and other goodies for a great price with aloha customer service. Fruit flies FREE on most airlines! The airlines have joined together to support Hawaii’s agriculture. They do this by allowing you to take a box of fruit on the plane at no additional cost. That’s right! Check in a box of pineapples and most airlines will waive the baggage fee for you. «How does this work?» We make it simple for you. If you are on Maui, give us a call and we’ll reserve a box for you. Just stop by to pick it up on your way to the airport. «I would rather ship my pineapples to friends, family and myself». We do that too! «Can I just stop by and see what you have to offer?» Of course, come in and sample our products. «Okay, Okay I think I got this. You’re telling me, even though I have two pieces of luggage I’m checking in, I can take a case of pineapples on the plane for free?» That’s right! Come in or call us

History

Established in 1999.

Mr. Pineapple was founded in 1999. It all began with an idea to have a case of pineapple agriculture certified to be easily exported back to the mainland to share with family and friends.

Over the course of 14 years, the store grew to have papayas, fresh flower leis and other goodies. Kelly Davison, a former manager of Mr. Pineapple, bought the business in February, 2013. The business was built on biblical principles and continues to grow with the same foundation. Mr. Pineapple is now carrying a wide array of new products.

We have expanded our International Shipping to include Switzerland, Germany, Canada, and Australia. Our customers come from all over the world and our customers is what have helped made our business what it is today.

Business Owner

Kelly Davison was born and raised Idaho where all the family pitched in farming and ranching. He moved to Seattle, WA after high school where he attended college. He joined the Army Reserves in 1999 and began a series of new adventures. Kelly met his wife Janelle on the mainland and traveled together from Seattle to Texas to finally Maui where Janelle is originally from. Kelly began working at Mr. Pineapple in 2006 as a store manager and eventually a general manager. In 2009, he was mobilized with the Army Reserves to Virginia for three years. Today, Kelly & Janelle are the proud owners of Mr. Pineapple and have a son named Evan. Kelly & Janelle spend their time balancing between family activities, business, military duties, church and giving back to the community.

My husband and I were on our honeymoon and was referred here by a local and we couldn’t be happier. The location is a bit odd because it’s at a gas station but the owners are complete sweethearts!!! They were both memorable and we still think about them every time we see pineapples here in NY and how they just don’t compare. Both of them were helpful when we asked about pricing, differences in pineapples and all the products they had. We picked up coffee beans, Maui mac brittles and some macadamia nuts. We ordered the pineapples when we got home so we would be here when they arrived.
Maui Mac brittles — I purchased one bag and boy was that a mistake!!! I finished it during my stay in Maui and figured I would be able to find it in Oahu. NOPE! I searched high and low at every store in Oahu and everyone looked at me like I was looking for a unicorn. I later googled and realized they were only sold in Maui. I purchased four bags when I got back to NY.
Maui Gold Pineapples — ordered 10 pineapples. Every single person we gifted the pineapples to are now completely spoiled. Everyone gushed about how sweet they were and how life has changed! Lol We are definitely ordering some for the holidays!
We chatted them up about local recommendations and they welcomed all our questions. Thanks for such an awesome visit!

Phenomenal customer service. After the previous review, the owner reached out to me directly to address my concerns and offered to re-​send a new shipment. I accepted (asking for 2 since I threw away that many, but they ended up sending me 4). The new shipment was significantly better in size and sweetness and they were gobbled up in a few days. I thought that if we had gotten that shipment off the bat, I would have extremely happy. I will probably order from them again once I get a craving and in season before determining the consistency/​quality.

Excelant service! I live on Maui and always use Mr. Pineapple for my needs when shipping pineapples to my family. They always meet thier delivery dates. I recently shipped pineapples to Germany and they made it as promised. The shipping fees may be a little high but the smile you see on your families face on arrival is priceless. We were recommended to stop here by the gentleman at Maui Pack and Ship as we were in the hunt to mail some painted Coconuts to our families.
You wouldn’t expect much from a store above a gas station, but the owner here takes extremely great care of the place. We were lucky to find about 8 painted coconuts that were ready to be shipped lined up against the wall. He also had delicious samples of papaya, pineapple, and coconut brittle.
For $ 80 bucks, we sent 2 painted coconuts back to the states which included tracking information and postage. You could probably save a couple bucks by taking the coconut to the post office, but since the service was there, we opted in.
I can’t say much about the pineapple, but he did receive about 3 during our 10 minute visit about mailing pineapples back to the mainland.
Definitely check this place out if you feel like mailing a coconut or taking some pineapple home with you.
We should’ve visited before we took off for Kaanapali. It worked out anyway.

I had high hopes for this place; however, the pineapple was some of the worst we’ve ever had. We get better pineapple at our local grocer. It wasn’t sweet at all, not juicy and they were extremely small. Smallest ones that I’ve actually ever seen. Sorely disappointed and we paid quite the pretty penny to bring these back from Maui. Terribly disappointed. :(

Don’t buy pineapples here. We have never seen such tiny pineapples. Basically $ 7 each for a 3pack. We planned to give them as gifts when we got home but were too embarrassed at the small size.
Customer service was fine. He let us get two 3packs for the price of one 6 pack. That’s because you wouldn’t want to ship anything in their bigger box. It’s just an open cardboard produce box like you see in the grocery store.

I am not affiliated in anyway with Mr Pineapple. In fact I prefer the other guys in Lahaina for taking ag certified boxes of Maui Gold pineapple to the mainland. I just want to say Jana B. below is truly uninformed. If you want to save a couple of bucks by bringing an empty box to Costco, asking very busy employees to loan you a tape gun, waiting 30 minutes while they go fetch one, packing a box of pineapple in the store and then trying to get it ag certified at the airport then by all means go for it. If there is even one tiny ant on your box it will not pass.
And anyway why would you visit Maui and not want to support a small locally owned business? Buying locally is putting food on a family’s table, making it possible for the little league team to have equipment and jerseys. Not paying for a rich CEO’s third vacation home. If you don’t patronize the small guys the next time you visit Maui your only choices will be Costco or Walmart.

Don’t be ridiculous people! Just buy a box of pineapples in nearby Costco. Take another empty box. They will lend you a tape. In a couple of minutes you have a great air plane packaging. It’s no problem, this is from first hand experience. Inspection at the airport is as fast as you place your luggage on the belt.
But of course guys in this ridiculously expensive store tell you that only their packaging is safe.

We made a stop at Mr Pineapple last year before heading to the airport. We were able to take home a case of yummy Maui Gold pineapples to our families. I also loved that we were able to check the pineapples with our luggage for free. I would definitely recommend doing this if you like pineapples. The ones we get in California don’t even compare.

Always stop at Mr. Pineapple before you leave Maui. They have pineapples packed to travel. Every air traveler leaving Hawaii is entitled to have a box of pineapples baggage checked for free by the airlines. If you are taking Hawaiian to Honolulu to take another airline home they will fly it free also. They service many of the hotels and resorts and the prices are significantly cheaper here. At one resort, a pack ordered in the hotel was 2 for $ 23, at Mr. Pineapple it started at 3 for $ 19.95. We bought three 6 packs. The Maui Gold pineapples are sweeter and less acidic that the ones from Central America. Dole stopped growing for export from Hawaii to save transportation costs and also lowered the quality of the product available on the mainland which is really sad. They also ship a variety of fruit including coconuts and have fresh leis available.
It is located at the Shell station on Dairy Road a couple of blocks from the entrance to the airport and Costco. They have a truck parked in the lot and an office above the convenience story right next to the Shell station. The nice man helped us carry them down the stairs.

This is a great company to grab your pineapple from on your way to the airport. I’m not sure what all to say. The staff was friendly and efficient. The product is well packaged and you can ship it for free when you check it with your airline.

I love Mr. Pineapple! We first used their service about 7 years ago, and now use them every time we’re visiting Maui. I’ve never got a bad pineapple from them, and we get a box of three every time we’re there. The staff are always friendly and efficient. We always stop here on our way to the airport, and they always have pineapples boxed up and ready to go (already passed agricultural inspection). Plus, it’s free checked baggage! Although, I’m not sure if that only applies to certain airlines (we were with Alaska). It never takes more than 5 minutes to get three awesome pineapples and be on our way.
They’re upstairs above the Shell station on Dairy Road, about 2 miles from the airport. Apparently they also sell Maui onions, fresh papayas, and other goodies, but I’ve only tried the pineapple. Be sure to ask for a free sample of pineapple at their counter so you can taste just how delicious they are first-​hand!

Bought a box of pineapples and three coconuts on our way out of HI. Once we got home, we realized one of the coconuts was rotten (there was a thick layer of mold inside the shell). Despite the guarantee, Mr Pineapple never responded to my request for a refund or replacement.
Pineapples were OK… slightly overripe but still comparable in quality to what I can buy in any Chicago produce market.
Major disappointment as there simply isn’t anything like a fresh Hawaiian pineapple. I’ll be back to Maui; I won’t be back to Mr Pineapple.

We had initally gone to costco on a reocmemdnaiton becuse they have Maui gold and are very reasonable. We bought 10 pineappples from there but were a bit confused as to best way to take them home. I decided to clal Mr. Pineapple after seeing their truck outside. Mike who answered the phone was soo nice and helpful. He explaiend the airline agirculture rules to us. Most airlines let each perosn brign a free case of pineapple home with them without having to pay a baggage fee in order to support local agriculture. he was soo helpful that we went returned our pineapple to costco and purchased them from mr. pineapple.
We got a 12 pack and foudn a 10% off coupon so it came out ot about 52.00 pre-​packaged and ready to carry o nteh plane with us. much easier and less work then gettign them from costco and when you include packing pretty much the same price. I would definietly recommend them they make the experience easy and painless.

Other than the airport, I didn’t see any other ways to purchase and bring back pineapples and other fruit to the continental U.S. (legally). Mr. Pineapple is a small place above a gas station that has the goods. Scott was working at the time and gave superb service. I bought 8 pineapples to bring back to the family and they were the best I have ever had, perfectly ripe and sweet. The airport carries the same brand of pineapples at a significantly higher price so do your shopping before you go to the airport. Mr. Pineapple’s products have been inspected by agriculture and free to check-​in as baggage at no extra cost with your airline. If that is not convenient enough for you, Mr. Pineapple can ship directly to your home (at an extra shipping cost).

Heard so much about Maui pineapples and tasted some that were just out of this world from friends who brought some home! So when I went to Maui, I planned on getting some to take home with me. I tried some pineapple from the restaurants, the store, the luau, they were all good but not super sweet like I remembered. I even got some from a fruit stand off the road and it was $ 10 for a small pineapple that was over ripe. Uggh!
After lots of searching, I was happy to find Mr. Pineapple, and it was the most convenient place to get pineapples to bring back to the mainland. First of all, it is right on the way to Kahului Airport, so convenient. Second, it is packed and inspected ready to be checked in without extra charges! Third, it costs less than the pineapples at the airport and the one I got from the fruitstand! And last but not least, it is the sweetest and juiciest pineapple you’ve ever had and they guarantee it!
Scott works at Mr. Pineapple and he is super friendly, helpful and very informative. I was also lucky enough to talk to the owner himself, Jimmy, and learn more about this wonderful fruit and where they come from! They are so nice, just how you think Hawaiians would be. I was very happy with the customer service.
And of course, when I ate the pineapples back home and shared them with everyone, tt was the best tasting pineapple you ever had! :-)

Went to Maui for my honeymoon and was told by everyone that I got to try Maui’s pineapple. And everyone was right, the pineapple there are super juicy and sweet. This is coming from a guy who doesn’t really like pineapples. On our way back to the airport, we stopped by at Mr. Pineapple to buy some for our friends and family (you can get the pineapples checked as free luggage). The location of Mr. Pineapple is close to the airport, which makes it very convenient. However, it could be a bit hard to find as they are located above a gas station’s convenience store. Look out for the Mr. Pineapple trucks parked along side of the road. Their price of pineapple is decent, one of the cheapest I’ve seen. Mr. Pineapple is super nice and spend time teaching us how to keep pineapples in the fridge longer for months of enjoyment.
Everyone who ate our pineapple loved it and all claimed it’s the sweetest pineapple they have ever tested.
Will definitely go back if I visit Maui again!!!
