Established in 2005.

The owner was finished with corporate America, loves clothing and wanted to help Seattle women feel better about themselves. So… she opened a store.

Business Owner

After spending 10 years working in Internet advertising in San Francisco and Seattle, Amanda Rosenthal decided she was through with corporate America. Forever obsessed with clothing, she dreamed of opening a clothing boutique similar to the shops found in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. Sensing a void in the Seattle shopping scene, Rosenthal felt the Emerald City needed a store that featured up-​and-​coming designers that no one had seen before. She took this inspiration and became a self-​taught entrepreneur, throwing open the doors of La Rousse in 2005.

Even though this boutique has gone online and personal appointments only, MAKE THE EFFORT! Amanda, the proprietress has killer taste, cutting edge fashion sense, and beautiful, quality, unique, clothing.
What have I purchase?
–waxed cotton trench coat
–beautiful forest green silk dress
–countless sweaters
–my favorite sweatshirt ever, I wear it so much it is like Linus’s blankie!
Everything has a unique twist, special pleat, or tie that makes the most ordinary items feel special, a treat to wear every day.

Fabulous little shop! I love that there is a nice mix of vintage and designer with a focus on current fashions and hot labels. Love it!

La Rousse is a great place to visit if you’re looking for edgy, stylish clothes while shopping in Belltown. The women who work there are so sweet, and the last time I visited, I was greeted at the door by an adorable scruffy, non-​precocious poodle.
The vintage selection is fantastic. The buyer has a great eye, and has found pieces that have either stood the test of time or belong in the current revival of 80s silhouettes. What I really appreciate about their 80s-​comeback selection is the pieces are elegant and stylish, and nothing like the Bill Cosby sweaters a lot of stores carelessly set out as 80s vintage.
They also carry LA Made tees, which are indeed fabulous, and cute clutches and belts.
The reason I’m giving three stars (I’d prefer 3 and a half) is that I feel the markup skews a little high in relation to the actual value of the pieces. While I understand overhead is certainly steep in Belltown, it’s hard to justify dropping a big chunk of change on something as insubstantial and infrequently worn as, say, a sleeveless sweater, even if it does feature hand-​stitching or is made from silk. This personal shopping philosophy limited my selection to just a few things I didn’t really need at the time, like gorgeous party dresses, so I always leave empty-​handed. I just wouldn’t have a good conscience if I didn’t gently prepare you for the possibility of not striking shopping gold.
Still, I really recommend stopping by and visiting La Rousse, because if you do find what you’re looking for, you will be really happy and probably will be adding something very unique to your collection. I hope they diversify their selection a little more. It would be great to see this unique business around for years to come.

If you have any interest in vintage be sure to check out the small collection the owner has in the store. She’s got a great eye for it! Recently, I picked up two dresses that I absolutely love! The price was fantastic and they have been well taken care of, seems are all well in-​tacked as well as zippers, hems and buttons. I can’t wait until the weather gets a few degrees warmer and the sun is shining longer. Check out the collection of denim at La Rousse too! This is a great go to for LAMade as well. The customer service was excellent! Really approachable, down to earth and just cool! Oh, I scored another treasure… how could I forget??? A vintage leather belt that fits my true waist to a T. Love it! It goes perfectly with my blousey summer tops. Thanks La Rousse! I’ll be back soon!

I’ve been walking by this store nearly every day since moving here. I finally stopped in and I’m so glad I did. Lots of cute clothes. And even better, lots of cute clothes made from natural fibers! I just can’t bring myself to pay $ 150 for an acrylic top, which is what I usually find at other boutiques. But that’s just my thing.

Amazing clothes and unique designers you wouldn’t find just anywhere. I’d equate it to Pixie or Ambiance in SF…

Oh my gosh I love this store!!! Beautiful thoughtful clothes that are not covered with tired old cheesy brand names that we sometimes confuse with fashion! The buyer does a great job and there is the cutest little three legged dog that is realaxing on her pillow most days. Great selection of jeans and dresses!
