I went to this mechanic 2 and a half years ago because my service light came on in my Lexus, the engine also appeared to be running rough. The closest Lexus dealer is in Grand Rapids and based on this businesses yellow pages add and their name I felt they should be qualified to service my car. After looking my car over they reported that the service light was due to a sensor from which they replaced and that I needed some extensive brake work done, not related to the service light. I agreed to the almost $ 1,000 worth of work. When I picked up my car and drove less than a half a mile up the road, the engine started running rough again (worse than before). I turned right around and brought the car back. They seemed less then interested in helping me but agreed to take another look at it. Another $ 300 later another sensor was replace (they tell me this one cost more). A day later the same problem, I called them on the phone only to be treated with no sympathy or interest in helping me. In the end I ended up at the Lexus dealer (should have done that in the first place). Much to my surprise the issue was covered under a 100,000 mile warranty! Being I was the 3^rd owner of the car I did not know that.
Fast forward to current day my rear brakes are making a horrible noise (the same brakes that were replaced 2 ½ years ago). I called European to find out if there was any guarantee on the parts since I wouldn’t expect the labor to be covered after 2 and a half years. The man on the phone scoffed at my question and said that they guarantee parts for 1 year. I then asked if the manufacturer guaranteed the part for some many miles. Again acting like this was a ridiculous question, said «no» but bring it in we will look at it. No thank you! I recommend staying far away from this business.
I feel it is my financial responsibility to know what is being done to my car and why. I do not expect to be treated like it is not my business and it is my feeling that questions should be welcomed by service providers. Perhaps European should give that philosophy some thought!
