Schultz Architecture (Design + Drafting) is a BBB A+ accredited, award winning residential architectural design firm. We work with clients in Kalamazoo, Michigan, that desire quality residential designs that work. We specialize in designing vacation lake homes and primary homes. We also provide architectural design and planning consultations.

If a new house is not what you need, we will work with you on designing an addition or renovation to your existing home.

At Schultz Architecture, we incorporate Aging-​in-​Place and Universal Design into all of our designs. Wider doors, wider hallways or accessible bathrooms may not be needed for a few years, but they do make a home that much more comfortable to live in. These renovations also add value to your home and are an asset at resale.

We will work one-​on-​one with you as part of your team from start to finish to tailor your vision to your needs and personality. This is your dream house not ours. We would like to help you make it come true.

All of our residential architecture designs are exclusively designed for your needs. Therefore, we do not have «Stock» or «Pre-​drawn» architectural design plans.

Did you find or buy a stock design plan online that you liked but want to make changes?

We can help you with that. Many of these stock plans are not designed to meet local or current building codes, and will need to be brought up-​to-​date before they can be built…

History

Established in 2008.

In 2008, Schultz Design and Drafting was founded by Jonathan D. Schultz, RA, ALA, NCARB. Jon founded the company knowing he was able to offer knowledge, experience, and creativity that could not be matched. Schultz Design and Drafting was founded upon the principles of delivering higher quality design services in a personal and friendly manner to homeowners. Schultz Design and Drafting, which updated its name to Schultz Architecture in 2015, still believes in its core philosophy of «Aging-​in-​Place» and «Universal Design» that still appears into their building designs.

Schultz Architecture has added additional staff over the years while it continues to grow and increase its business. The business offers design services for a multitude of building types including:

Jonathan S.

Business Owner

Jonathan D. Schultz graduated from the Architecture Program at the University of Michigan in 1990, earning his Master of Architecture Degree. Coming from an extensive background in Art, Design, and Construction, Jon knew he would be entering the world of Architecture from an early age. He founded Schultz Design and Drafting in 2008, now renamed Schultz Architecture to encompass all current services offered, and has been growing the business ever since. Jon is a member of the Association of Licensed Architects, a Registered Architect in the State of Michigan, and is on the National Council of Registration Boards.
