The SLD Center, a community resource of West Michigan, is committed to bringing the power of reading, writing and spelling to all individuals with dyslexia or other unique learning styles, enabling them to achieve their full potential. Last year alone, SLD Center tutored more than 302 children and adults providing more than 10,000 hours of specialized, proactive training and instruction. Since establishing the Center in Kalamazoo in 1974 and opening our Grand Rapids office in 1987, SLD Center has provided services to more than 9,775 people.

The SLD Center continues to pursue and maintain the highest standards for its providers and services. We utilize our resources to the fullest by partnering with individuals, schools, universities, corporations, foundations and other organizations in order to provide:

* Comprehensive assessment and evaluation to identify their learning style and educational needs;

* One-​to-​one multisensory tutoring

* Professional Development for Educators

The Specialized Language Development Center is a non-​profit community resource serving West Michigan. Our vision is a community working together for literacy that empowers all individuals to achieve their full potential. To reach this vision, we help individuals with dyslexia, learning differences, and other reading challenges to develop lifelong language skills through our multisensory program. We assist educators to identify learning challenges and provide training and techniques to enhance their reading curriculum. We increase community awareness and understanding of literacy issues.
