Stayed over the holiday. The 1st shifter whom came in at 6 had to prep the breakfast since the lazy 3rd shifter would not do jack. Day two, same 3rd shifter wasn’t at the counter or anywhere else to be found at around midnight, when I went to go complain about the fighting. Thank you Kevin, you made for the best part of our stay. Now please be advised, the after hours feeling is offensive to say the least. Parking lot is dark, you feel like your being watched. But really with the exception that they use too much bleach, could use some more lighting in the parking lot, and would be better off hiring a trained monkey than that 3 rd shift middle eastern jerk off, this place is not too bad for the money.

Not the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. The room was sub par but what do you expect; you get what you paid for. Shower was completely disgusting. Beds were fairly comfortable 3⁄5. Staff was very helpful and apologetic. It was worse than most hotels I’ve stayed in. I dont think I would have a problem staying here again… My standards are low tho ;)

Horrifying. The bathtub looked like something from a horror movie. I’m not talking about a tad bit of mold. It looked like something to get murdered in(see posted photograph). There were actual small bloodstains on the thin excuse for a quilt. Outside it was a frigid 16 degree night, but they kept the heat turned down low and there was no room thermostat to turn it up. It wouldn’t have been so bad except the bedding was about as thin as the fake blankets they give you on airplanes. We even doubled up the bedding from both beds and still froze all night. I’ve stayed in bad budget hotels and hostels all over the world but this one is one of the worst I’ve ever seen.

This review is based on the quality of the hotel itself. The guy working the front desk was really nice but he can’t control the smell … Even though we had a non refundable room we almost just paid for this room and another one at a different hotel. It’s cheap but smells so so bad. Avoid if you can. Decent location. 12 dollar Über ride to wmu campus.

Front desk guy was friendly enough, and wanted to help get me a room, even though I showed up an hour earlier than check-in. The location is great, as I simply needed to stay the night in Kalamazoo before heading toward South Haven in the morning. The room smelled like cigarette smoke upon entrance, but I didn’t notice it as strongly after a time. I went to turn on the A/C and made the mistake of putting my face in the air current coming out — this smelled even worse. It was long overdue for a filter change and smelled like some kind of nasty combination of mold and cigarette smell. The power went out almost completely at around 11pm or so. I went down to ask when it might be restored and the lady at the front desk made it sound as though she had been in contact with someone, but no one knew when it would be restored. Power did not come back until 9am next morning. By the time I went to use the shower late in the morning, the water was ice cold. I suppose this would make sense if the hotel were at full capacity or everyone was using their shower at the same time, but that did not seem to be the case at all. There may have been 5 – 6 other rooms in use at most. Overall cleanliness seemed okay, but nothing about the place struck me as very nice. It’s simply a cheap and conveniently located motel. I would not, however, stay there again.

Is it that difficult to have decent signage?! I drove back and forth on W. Main for at least ½ hour before finding this place, because the Maple Hill Drive sign is missing on one side of the road and falling over(and not visible) on the other. Cute, friendly front desk guy got me checked in quickly, and gave me advice on local vintage stores and dives.(Turns out he’s often in Chicago visiting my neighborhood, Ukrainian Village.) Bottle cap sitting on the lounge chair in the room; hey, they’re never spotless! Another reviewer was spot-on when he mentioned that the beds were not comfortable. I barely slept… but, just had to drive down Main to get to E. Michigan and central Kalamazoo, so very convenient.

Pro: great location with good access to highways and food and bars Cons: the rooms are dark: not well lit, complimentary breakfast sucks with minimal food, beds are super not comfortable

Bad bad bad hotel. Did not sleep well at all. Hole in bathroom door, questioned cleanliness of everything from sheets to bathtub… and by all means, stay away from the breakfast if that is consistent with this slummer. Lucky to get one star. This motel made the Days 8 in Bloomington IN seem like a resort hotel!!! Did I mention I got charged for a safe in the room,(not requested) but was broke and couldnt use it???

I’ve stayed in this hotel three years in a row. It has gone down hill each year. The cleanliness of the rooms has been getting worse, and the quality of the towels and service has also declined. We reserved three rooms with king sized beds, when our group went to check in we were given two rooms with king sized beds and a room with two twins. We also had requested three rooms together. I could understand if they could do three rooms together with king beds, but the rooms we were originally given weren’t even next to each other. The price is right, and you do get what you paid for, but I think in the future I will find a new hotel.
