Waiahole Nursery & Garden Center specializes in all of your Aquaponic needs! Our knowledgeable staff can help you set-​up and trouble shoot your home aquaponic system. We carry everything from net pots and starter plants to beautiful Nile Red Tilapia.

W.N.G.C. is a great tourist destination as our location offers majestic views of the popular Chinaman’s Hat island and small group tours of our aquaponic garden. We also carry agriculturally inspected seeds and starter plants approved for transport in your luggage!

Locals will love our selection of landscaping plants, fruit trees, and variety of gifts, balloons, and cut floral arrangements suitable for any occasion.

W.N.G.C. also specializes in vocational training programs for special needs and at risk youth and adults. We accept volunteers from the community and always put education first.

History

Established in 2009.

Waiahole Nursery & Garden Center is a small, family owned & operated business that sprouted from the need for a vocational training facility for Oahu’s special needs population. A once orchid nursery, the property is now home to Marcus House, a residential treatment facility for special needs young adults and Waiahole Nursery & Garden Center. What started as an aquaponic garden, geared at promoting sustainability for the property’s residents has blossomed into a fully operational nursery, offering landscaping and edible plants, as well as, ornamental orchids and gifts. Vocational training reaches all aspects of our operation from care of our aquaponic garden to handcrafted items offered in our gift shop. Education is truly the backbone of our operation which is committed to promoting a healthy, sustainable, community.

Dr. Patricia D.

Business Owner

Dr. Dukes is a retired University of Hawaii (University of Michigan, Washington University, Texas Tech & Kent State) professor of Speech and Audiology. She runs a Mental Health Day Treatment facility, Loveland Academy, in Honolulu and a Residential Treatment facility, Marcus House, in Kaneohe. She has dedicated her life to bettering the lives of children and young adults with special needs. Waiahole Nursery and Garden Center was started as a direct need for vocational and pre-​vocational training for Hawaii’s special needs population.

Here at WNGC, we open our doors to organizations and volunteers in the special needs community. Dr. Dukes provides a safe and enriching environment for Oahu’s special needs community to fulfill both their therapeutic and educational needs.
