I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve been here?! This building has been on the outer perimeter of Meadowview for a looooong time(before Meadowview too) and I have a great appreciation for places that utilize existing buildings. This ice cream/popsicle shop is super clean. They have a dozen+ flavors of ice cream, including several flavors that are lactose-free(!!!), homemade popsicles and milkshakes. Between the group of us, we tried the strawberry(it tastes like sorbet), caramel, mammy(which I guess is a Jamaican fruit that tasted like creamy/milky strawberry), and guanabana(a Mexican fruit that is described as «strawberries and pineapple with a citrusy-tartness»). They were all crazy good! The small serving was huge and I think it cost us around $ 11 for the four dishes. The ice cream and popsicles are separated into«water-based» and I’m guessing, «milk-based» categories. I think it’s awesome that there is finally a local place that can cater to those with a lactose allergy. I’m not sure however, if they have barrels of ice cream not in the case alongside the regular ice cream(depending on how severe your allergy is…). The teenagers behind the counter were very friendly and helpful when it came to describing the different flavors that weren’t recognizable to us. We can’t wait to go back!

There are certain businesses that I try to avoid for fear of becoming addicted. These places are usually stores who’s main offering is candy, sugar, desserts or ice cream. I have a ridiculous sweet tooth and often find myself consuming way too many sweets. I’d driven past La Delicia a few times when going to the grocery store, but I’d always been able to prevent myself from stopping in. It’s beautiful out today and I was really wanting some dessert for the warm day. My first instinct was DQ since it’s so close to my house, but I found my way over by Meadowview today and knew I had to finally try La Delicia out. This puts all other ice cream places to shame — seriously. They have a ton of choices including cream and water based popsicles loaded with fresh fruit, milk shakes, smoothies, and ice cream along with a few other Mexican treats like the corn with mayo, chile powder and butter(which I found out today is called«elote» not«Mexican corn in a cup» as I’ve been calling it.) The main downfall is that the entire menu is in Spanish, although even if you have no knowledge of the language you can decipher some of it. There was a guy there raving about their milkshakes, so I asked the guy waiting on me what kind of milk shake most people order. He said a popular one was pistachio, chocolate and pine nuts. This is completely different than what I would normally order, but I knew it had to be good so I ordered it. I also ordered a cantaloupe/melon popsicle. Holy cow. They are both so good. You can tell that everything was freshly prepared with the best of ingredients, so it made me feel less guilty about ordering 2 desserts in the middle of the day. There were two people working and they were both really nice. They hardly bat an eye at my lack of knowledge about the Spanish language or dessert offerings. I’m already planning my return for later this week where I will once again pick their brain about what to order.
