Antiques and Oddities Architectural Salvage, is the standard I use to judge all arch. salvage resources! I moved to S.F. 20 ys ago, but I always try to make time to visit when I return to K.C. This is one of those little gems that people in KC cant appreciate until they no longer have it as a ready resource. Sure there are salvage shops and yards in California, but none can hold a 30s era deco sconce to this place! The staff was always helpful(as long as you have a specific question) and like any true master in a field would say«I dont know» instead of making up an answer or inventing a history like so many places will. A.S you make me homesick! This is a great resource for film and stage props, designers, architects, artists as well as anyone wanting to dabble in D.I.Y., home improvements. My only complaint is the funky hours of operation, but once inside, you’ll forget about that and will be overwhelmed by the possibilities in front of you! Its like a museum that hasnt yet labeled the artifacts

Two words. Pinball machine. Yes, they’ve got a neat old school pinball machine when you walk in. As if that weren’t enough, you can have a go at it, free of cost. Say what? Yeah, you read that right. Free old school pinball machine. If that isn’t enough to get you to love this place at least a little, you need to check yourself into an insane asylum. The coolness didn’t end there. Browse around and it really is a plethora of architectural history. It’s like walking through a museum as you view the multitude of breathtaking pieces. If you’re a fan of architecture and/or history, you’ll really love and appreciate walking through here. They’ve got a great collection of items. Among the things that seem endless are stained glass collection, old doorknobs/pulls/hinges, buttresses and other architectural elements to hang on your walls, fireplace mantels and… well, a lot more but I forget. Staff is great and the few times I’ve been in, I’ve always been treated nice. To my advantage, I tend to know what I’m looking at and I think the older staff loves that someone«young» like me really appreciates and knows what items there are and the history behind it. Then why four stars instead of five? The prices are over the top for the most part. That being said, if you really want an old piece of history and you want it *now*, odds are they have it. Also, I did find a few pieces that were quite underpriced. Not many — just a few. But you have to really know prices to know which items are the deal.

Unless you received some crap-o-la service, this place is at least four stars. Geez… they have more old lock sets, strike plates, decorative knobs, etc than I have ever seen. Really cool demo pieces, too. Lots of mantles, fire screens, and light fixtures. Other neat items like hooks and and accessories are there, too. Fun place and good for that unique or hard to find older piece of something you are looking for.

Such a cool place, full of unique antiques and architectural elements. Hard to find stuff like vintage doorknobs, lighting fixtures, etc. High prices but hey, its all unique and vintage. Not the best hours but the staff is helpful once you get in. If I had the money and a cool loft, I’d shop there a lot.
