Beautiful Body Tattoo

Went in looking to get a back piece done and found Loran after 20 shops I’ve sifted through and I’m so glad I found him. We did an 8-​hour session and I’ll let the photo speak for itself. Very personable, approachable, and all around good person, but even a greater artist.

My mom and I met in Kansas City to celebrate my 21^st birthday [we live on opposite ends of the country] and my mom decided she was going to get her first tattoo during our trip, so I decided to get my third one done as well. I did some searching around for a shop and it didn’t take me long to find this one.
This is the first shop I’ve come across that in my opinion all the artists are equal in talent and abilities so when I showed it to my mom I knew that she had an excellent selection of artists without sending her a million different shops. [Which was amazing because I’ve never been that impressed by a specific shop before and also because we were on a time crunch and visiting so if someone wasn’t available, maybe someone else would be and I’m sure we wouldn’t have had to sacrifice on quality.] We had thought about getting them done at the same time also, but I was pleasantly surprised that my mom and I both had one artist in particular that stood out. We contacted Beth, who we learned works there part-​time and luckily she was available to work with both of us even on such short notice!
We got to the shop early and while we were waiting the shop owner, Neil, talked to us and was very nice and personable and made us feel comfortable. In my past experience I wasn’t usually talked to by anyone except the guy doing my tattoo after I told them who it was that I was there for, but this was not the case here!
She had accidently left her bag at home [she works another job during the day] so we had to wait a little bit for her to print and get set up, but we didn’t mind. Logan, who is another amazing artist with many excellent reviews from what I had seen came out from the back after he had finished with another person’s tattoo and talked with us for a bit as well, and Beth said that Logan does her tattoos which lets you know the quality, trust, and I’m assuming friendship that they have with each other as well.
My mom went first so she wouldn’t chicken out and Beth was very personable and kind with my nervous mom! In my experience, the guy that I went to when I got my first one done was really skeptical that I would go through with it and was very impersonable until it was done when he realized that I didn’t cry at all and he never had to tell me to be still, then I earned his respect I guess. But Beth was patient, explained everything she was doing and why, answered my mom’s questions and never appeared to be judgmental or rushing. During the process she played good music and we talked a lot throughout. It didn’t feel awkward or forced at all, I thought we all got along well.
We both got our tattoos on our inner forearm and it hurt my mom a lot, but mine didn’t hurt too much, but when it comes to the coloring, I bled more than my mom did [which I have heard is annoying to deal with but she didn’t complain or anything].
The price was great and fair as well, especially for the amazing job she did!
They both look fantastic, I already got a compliment on the color!
We were so grateful for the experience and expertise and I would definitely travel the 8 hours to have her do my future tattoos!
One tip on the shop in general is that they do cash only so make sure to get a good quote and bring enough for the tip as well!

I went through two tattoo artists who were unresponsive and arrogant before finding Loran at a convention. He listened to everything that I wanted. I had kanji on my foot that needed to be covered, and I knew I needed someone amazing to fix it the way I wanted. You only have one chance for foot cover ups! He sketched it for me, listened to how I wanted to alter it, and then he drew it for me on my foot taking the time out to make sure it was what I wanted. He let me play my own music from my phone and was fine with the fact I needed three supporters. I’ve found my artist for life!

I got my first tattoo from Loran Smith. I was really excited until I looked at my tattoo after it was complete. My tattoo was nothing like what the drawing (that Loran drew) looked like. there are a few lines that he went too far on. Some lines arent complete. Shading was horried. It seemed like he was rushing to get it completed. The professionalism wasn’t there. Their were people waiting and talking to Loran at the same time Loren was tattooing me. The people were actually showing Loran pictures of the tattoo that they wanted. Loran would look at their tattoo while tattooing me. It seemed to me that Loran was more interested in their tattoo than the one he was actually doing at the time. Luckly it wasn’t messed up to bad and my guy at Irezumi’s is going to fix it!

I have been to 6 different tattoo shops and this was my best overall experience. Loran made it a pleasant experience. My only complaint is one of the guys who works there wouldn’t quit talking about his not so good past. The shop was clean, I watched Loran open and set up all the supplies, and his work was great.
Loran didn’t talk my head off, which was nice. He also didn’t get upset because I’m a quiet person when I’m being tattooed. Also nice.
I will return to him for future work.

I went with my boyfriend to get his tattoo a few months ago. The shading isn’t too impressive, the measurements are a little off, and I think he was a bit overcharged but it wasn’t too bad. On top of that, there was some thug kid wandering around the shop that kept making comments about my ass. On a nicer note, although the old guy that tattooed him was batshit crazy, he was definitely entertaining and the guy at the front desk was very friendly. Not a horrible experience, but I’m not sure we will be returning.

The artists are professional and the place is clean! My tattoos will NEVER be done by anyone else except at Beautiful Body Tattoo.
