Perhaps I went on a different day or they have a different working crew. We purchased the family meal on a whim via drive-by. I’ve never had their food before, but it was *fresh* at 4:30pm and the taste was on par with any of the other chicken chains. Most places are a toss up, but we’d go again based on the first experience of actual fresh good-tasting food.

Five stars for the staff — the chicken itself was good, and the biscuits were great. When we were eating there this evening, a customer came in and wanted four pieces of white meat(including two breasts) for the price of a 3-piece mixed order. Now, you and I know that ain’t happening. The two servers tried at least six ways to explain how she can get what she wants, but for $ 3.00 more. Sounded reasonable to us. Not to crazy lady, though. She got her meal and wanted the manager’s name so she could explain how rude one of the servers was. Both servers went out of their way to accommodate this nut ball. Since we liked the chicken and LOVED the staff, we’ll be back when we make our monthly trips to KC.

After the outrageously poor service I received 3 months ago at the Vivion Rd(KCMO) site, I resolved never to go back again. Well my mistake, I went back again this evening. And received the same horrendous service and left without making a purchase and went to Popeye’s instead. If I could give them zero stars I would. Several of the same employees were working tonight as last time and still doing absolutely NOTHING except talking and laughing amongst themselves. Why don’t you give someone a job that deserves a job.

Stopped in when the woman got a craving for fried chicken. Can’t mess with the woman’s cravings! But anyways, it wasn’t my first option and this was the only place near this exit. People were friendly and the chicken was alright. Men’s and women’s bathrooms were quite dirty and the women’s bathroom had a leaking pipe under the sink. The men’s bathroom had no hand soap. Overall, I usually go to Popeye’s and I felt like I ate too much grease after eating at this Church’s.

Their spicy chicken has spiced meat, not just the batter ! Service was quick & friendly. They even get large orders correct the 1st time.

I vow by all that is good and wonderful about this world that I shall never make another purchase at the Church’s Chicken on Vivion Road. They tried to charge me for sides that are included with a family meal and were rude when I pointed out what their menu says. If I were ever faced with starvation or eating there again, I would gladly die an agonizing and wasting death before I set foot inside that den of filth again. They are no longer my neighbors.

Standard chain. Parking is practically nonexistent at this location. Lots of specials. You sometimes have to search the walls for the current specials but you can find chicken fried steak, shrimp, fish, chicken, okra, corn, potatos mashed or fried. Very busy at lunch because the area has a limited number of eating spots. Big Burger. Alfredo and Churches are your only choices in the Foxwood area.

My favorite story about Church’s goes like this… Shortly after Katrina, some news station was doing a report about the decimation to the lower 9th Ward. The reporter was interviewing a large woman of color and asking her about the irreparable damage done to the places she’d typically frequent. At one point, he said, ‘it’s got to be hard– the destruction of all the churches.‘ The black lady looked at him and said, ‘ain’t no big deal. We usually eat at Popeye’s.‘ Hand to God. No kidding. Not making this up. Anyway, Church’s is okay. Last time I ate there, the chicken was really fatty and lacked flavor. ‘I know what good is?’ I question that, Mr. Church’s Jingle Singer. They do make a FINE fucking honey-biscuit, though. Best biscuit I ever had, which earns it a 3 instead of a 2. Stock up on biscuits, ignore the weird chicken. (oh yeah, good corn, too)
