Circle Tax & Accounting

I’ve used circle tax now for two years and will not be using them again. The first year everything went fine and the price was reasonable. After I filed this year I received a letter from City of Kansas City saying I owed more than $ 2000 in city tax. I called Circle Tax right away and left a voicemail asking if they knew what on earth this letter was about. After 2 days of no reply I sent an email to them as well. Luckily, I was able to figure out that the city had added an extra zero onto my income for 2014 and I was able to fix it on my own. But, it has been over a month and I have never heard back from Circle Tax.
The whole reason I pay for someone to do my taxes every year is in case something happens I have a business to contact for help. Not hearing back from them has left a really bad taste in my mouth and I will not be using their services again.

Pros: easy to get an appointment, friendly staff, great location, honest employers who tried to explain things as they were doing it, had some questions after filing taxes and they were so quick to get back to me

First time having my taxes done — will definitely be back!

I’m a small business owner just starting out. I met with Aimee for a consultation about what I needed to do for my business record keeping, taxes, etc. She was friendly, helpful, her kid is super cute and I am definitely going to come back when it’s time to file.

This is my second year using Aimee’s service. I dropped my paperwork off in Mid-​March, and I had an additional W-​2 that took another week for me to receive — and I promptly dropped that off for Aimee as well. She never had time to speak to me, but she was very busy, and I had organized my own paperwork so that she should be able to navigate through it easily. However, I had purchased a property and sold another — and I needed information about gains/​losses, etc.
I emailed Aimee last week to ask if she had received my additional W-​2 (I had to drop it with her assistant) and never received an answer back from her. I just called to check on the W-​2, and to ask if my taxes were ready for me to pick up. I was told by the RUDE assistant that «if you haven’t heard from Aimee, you should take that as good news». When I reiterated that I needed to know the status of my taxes and whether she had received my W-​2, I was told that Aimee gets about 100 emails each day and doesn’t have time to respond to each one — plus she is booked solid all day and if she has time, will return my call after 5:00. I told the assistant I would need to stop in quickly (I’ll be out of town from tomorrow evening until after the 15^th, so in order to file my taxes on time, I need to get them signed and sent pretty quickly). She told me that i wouldn’t get any more information by stopping in than I would be phone or email. Aimee is just TOO busy. I thought that’s what business was about. It makes no sense to bring new business in the door when you are refusing to take care of what you already have.
SOOOOOO. .. never again. If her assistant is to be believed, then Aimee clearly wants to get business in the door, but now that she has built a clientele, chooses to ignore the loyal repeat customers she initially drew to her business. Too bad. I like to support independent businesses — but can’t be ignored when I legitimately need to interact with the person whose bill I will be gladly paying.
I just stopped in to Circle Tax — to pick up my paperwork and have my taxes done elsewhere. By a miracle, they were done!!! Amazing — but they couldn’t be bothered to call me or email me and let me know — nor could they tell me when I called.

Aimee sets a mood for tax accounting that you will experience no where else! It’s comfortable, relaxed, and VERY family friendly. But most importantly, Aimee’s dedication to the job keeps her on alert for ANYTHING that can benefit you as the client!

We’ve worked Aimee two years in a row now after failing to figure out how to make Turbo Tax work in our favor.
Last year we had three states we needed to file, this year only two so first off her cost was less than we were anticipating (and we thought it was reasonable before).
We were looking to pay more in taxes than we anticipated, but Aimee found a few deductions that we wouldn’t have ever thought of that definitely ended up working in our favor. Even after her fees, everything balanced out so we didn’t owe money. That alone made us happy. She even gave us a good tip on how to better keep track of donations to get us more money back next year.
Now there’s no doubt in our mind that we will continue to use Aimee for many years to come!

Anyhow, she charges an inexpensive nominal fee for her services and will work with you in person, on the phone or by email. Once she does your taxes, she’ll prepare a nice binder for you with everything neatly organized and explain it to you if you have questions. When we got married and moved, taxes were a bit complicated so my wife had suggested we switch from TurboTax to an accountant to help us out.
