Mechanic unable to explain why or differentiate the difference between the use of synthetic high mileage or standard oil, just said «because I said I recommend it.» Wanted to overcharge on windshield repair, replacement tires, headlight defogging.

DO NOT USE!! Took my car in for a state inspection. Kwik Car stated they could not pass my vehicle until $ 900 in repairs were made. I smelled the BS from the beginning. Guy was speaking 1000 words a minute, kept pushing me to sell them my vehicle instead of getting it repaired. Took it to a new place down the street the same day. Passed. Went home and looked at the blue book value of my vehicle and it was nearly triple the quote they offered. Should have known these guys were scammers based on the «Financing Here» signs all over building. Will gladly discuss these issues with anyone who has further questions. DO NOT USE!
UPDATE 5⁄1: I was unhappy and with the repair quote and DID take it to a new state inspection site and it DID PASS. I stated that in my initial review. Obviously you did not read my initial response very closely.

Rip off artists they do a half ass a job on a person’s brakes don’t even finish the job write some language in it and then charge you more. Try to have a reasonable conversation with him to Hash it all out tries to BS me. Will give you the cheapest parts and charge you more money. And as soon as you mention some of their tricks of the trade that they like to do to people. They’ll put you right out the door. SMH as far as I can see this company has no integrity and no honor. I wouldn’t even recommend my worst enemy to them. I give them a rating of — 1

Late on a Friday night, my car began to make some strange noises. Immediately, I began to panic since my normal mechanic isn’t open on the weekends and I had a trip planned to Lawrence the next day. I spent way too long on Friday night trying to find shops open on Saturday (fun fact, unless they are a chain, they usually aren’t open).
Not going to lie, Kwik Kar Automotive wasn’t my first choice. (Sorry, but the whole «Kwik Kar» thing turned me off). However, the first shop I visited couldn’t even see me that day. This turned out to be of great benefit. I walked into Kwik Kar, told them the issue, and they said they’d squeeze me in. After about 15 minutes, Travis took me into the garage, told me what the issue was, and gave me an estimate. He didn’t even charge me for looking at the car. Travis was also really upfront and told me I wasn’t having a serious issue and the repair could wait.
From what I can tell, Kwik Kar is a family-​owned and run establishment and is on the up and up. While everyone is worried about a mechanic ripping them off, these seem like some stand-​up people.

Came in at 10 am with no appointment and was told it would be 35 – 40 min wait or I could make an appointment. Made an appointment for 2 and it took over an hour to get a service done… not sure why appointments are made of they are not fulfilled!
Wait area was nice looking, service was the opposite of ‘Kwik’
Just came back and had to lower the review.
I am trying to get inspection to register my vehicle in Missouri, they said the back overhead light is not connected on my truck. I specifically asked if it was the bulb or not connected, they said it was not the bulb… so I went took off the cover and am back waiting for them to check my light (bulb) is working.
Estimated time here so far 1:40 and counting

OK, here’s the short version: I took my husband’s car in for a state inspection. I was tired that day, and agreed to a tire rotation after the inspection. A short while later, I was summoned to see damage to the lug nuts. They stated that three were severely damaged, and it would cost me $ 195 to get them fixed. I had things to do, and was a bit upset. They then put the wheels back on, sans one lug nut, and expected me to leave. Of course, by the time my husband was able to get out of work, the car was sitting in the parking lot so he was unable to see what the issue was. After taking it to the mechanic that does our big repairs, other than oil changes, they found only one was damaged. It cost around $ 50 to repair.
I will not be returning for any further oil changes or any other services. In previous visits they had always been pleasant, but I felt they were exceedingly rude this last visit, as well as trying to make money by taking advantage of a woman.

Great, honest, and friendly service. Felt the waiting room could do without the family cat. Smelled a bit like dander and definitely left with some cat hair on my clothing before work from sitting in the waiting room for an hour. Otherwise, good experience and a great Unilocal!deal of $ 25 for $ 40 honored with no problem.

Perhaps you should remove the «Kwik» from the title. I pulled in at 8:40 on a Saturday morning, with 2 bays running, was told there were 3 cars ahead of me & it would be 1 ½ hours until they could get to me.
I decided to go elsewhere.

Tanner again was helpful and fast. I had appointment at 8AM and was finished before 9AM. I got to play with Elizabeth the shop cat and find a coupon for $ 25 for $ 40 worth of service so my appointment was basically free! Thanks guys!

I am only giving one star because I have to.
This has to be the worst place I’ve ever taken a car EVER! I bought a tire alignment on groupon, I needed an oil change as well because the oil was low. The guy told me it was empty then proceeded to tell me to buy oil down the street the motor was «shot» they’d put in a new motor for me or sell me a difference car but couldn’t put oil in my car! The car is fine by the way!
Not sure who the other reviewers worked with or what but wow. Never ever again. No wonder they have to give such a discount on groupon!
You guys really should be ashamed of yourselves!

I used to go here relatively frequently. However, they now offer so many coupons, deals, etc. that it’s always booked up. They definitely try to up sell on everything («This is your cabin filter. This is the air your family breathes!»). I always politely decline. If they weren’t always so busy, I’d probably stop in for an oil change or minor repair, but I’ve been turned down so many times I’ve given up. Plus, parking in ridiculous now that they sell used cars.

I used to drive a fleet vehicle, so I have numerous experiences with Lube & Tune businesses. There’s nothing fun about spending time and money on routine maintenance for your vehicle, but it’s necessary, and it’s nice to be able to take it to someone you can trust to do the job right, do it quickly, and at a fair/​competitive price.
I’ve been taking all of my vehicles here since they opened (about ten years ago.) The business model is very similar to national chain lube & tune businesses, but because they are family owned, they don’t have a corporate office pushing them to increase their average ticket sale by aggressively upselling services you don’t need.
They make a detailed list of all the maintenance your vehicle may need, and they’ll prioritize them for you. Generally, you’re in and out in under 30 minutes; when they’re running on time, they’ll even vacuum out your floor mats, clean your windows, and top off your wiper fluid at no charge! Lately, they’ve been busy enough that it helps to call ahead and make an appointment.
I recommend this business to all of my friends and family. Try it once or twice; you can’t judge a place like this after one negative or neutral experience. If you’re happy with their service, they have a coupon sheet that includes four oil changes in addition to discounted auto service; the cost is approximately the equivalent of two oil changes, so it’s definitely worth it for anyone who plans on returning.

We are typically a Walmart oil change kind of family. We just moved to this area and when we realized that the local Walmart doesn’t provide oil change services (or else it wasn’t noticeable after driving around the building) we did a search to find a free standing business.
This was the only place in our area, and wonderfully located for us! We went on a Saturday and were helped immediately. The gal took our information and keys. We took the kids into the waiting area and they took the car right in to be serviced.
The waiting area is just what you’d expect it to be size wise. There is free popcorn (a favorite for my family) as well as a vending machine that dispenses both snacks and cold drinks. There is also free wifi, which is a lovely bonus.
The reason we typically dislike places such as this is the «salesman» style mechanics that typically try the hard sell on air filters and other extras. We didn’t find that here. They told us we needed new tires, which we did need, but that was the end of it. No pressure!
Reasonably priced, quick service, they even sent me a coupon via email so we will be taking my husbands vehicle there soon!

I really really wanted to like this place… but in the end, all I can give it is an OK rating.
Went here on a Saturday morning with a Google Offers coupon in hand.
Let’s start with the good — the place is comfortable, the staff is friendly, and they make waiting in the waiting area not-​so-​bad. There’s free WiFi in house, a Keurig, and a popcorn maker (with giant bags). The staff was nice, and looked like they took care of the place.
The downsides of this visit, unfortunately, cancel all that out. I went in right after opening, and was told it would take 30 minutes for my oil change. After 30, my car had just rolled into the service bay — I wouldn’t leave for another 30. (A good 10 of that was my car just sitting in the bay, after the change, but before they got around to giving me my keys.) Also, I was told I needed a transmission flush, an injector cleaning, and new front tires — the tires, I was aware of, but springing the other stuff on me was not all that awesome. To his credit, the mechanic servicing my car didn’t try to give me a hard sell, but at the same time… leaving the place after being told those things is never pleasant.
So, end result? An OK rating. It was a pleasant enough place, but the downsides (especially on a first visit) were pretty down.

Being new to the area I’m still finding all of my new places for the basic necessities in life. Now I know that it’s not as fun and exciting to Unilocal about everyday services as restaurants but its sure appreciated for those of us looking for them! When looking for a good place for an oil change in the Northland, I couldn’t find much here. So I decided to go un-​yelped (yes it’s non a word but it should be) and find a place of my own!
I decided to go on a Saturday morning which granted is a horrible time to go as that’s when everyone tried to get their errands done. However, I was impressed but the level of customer service that they were providing on a busy morning. A member of the team, met me out in the line in the parking lot, got all my information and took my keys and gave me a time estimate to when my car would be in the bay. Once they were working on my car they were very fast and efficient. The tech took the time to explain my options to me but was also not pushy about his suggestions. Some car places can be pretty aggressive about the upsell or their recommendations for maintenance. This was not the case at Kwik Kar. Basic Oil Change is $ 29.99, $ 10 extra for high mileage oil. Not the cheapest option in town, but definitely reasonable and I’ll pay a little more for quality service that isn’t pushy.
