The V6 is amazing! Such a light and satisfying dish. Also, try their beef taco — so good! Will be coming back soon. I would say their service isn’t very good or fast though which is why they are missing a star! But food wise, definitely a 5 out of 5.

Describe in one word: YUM! Service: fast & friendly Food presentation: A+ Quality for your money: A+ Cleanliness of restaurant: A+ This restaurant is located in the Historic River Market area of KC; the perfect location for a nice meal and a fun afternoon of shopping and people watching. My husband I did just that. For starters we had the crab Rangoon which my husband said was the best he’s ever eaten. We also had the wontons; which is like a tiny meatball wrapped in a wonton wrapper and fried. It was soo good! Because we love appetizers so much we also had the Pork rolls, which if we got the right thing was a cold spring roll with grilled pork inside, yum! For lunch I had the meatball and steak Phở(pronounced like you’re about to say the F word & realized your grandmother was listening… Fu.). I’ve had Phở at several KC restaurants and this was right up there with the best of them. The broth was amazing with a slightly cinnamon taste to it making it unique and tasty. My husband had the Bahn Mi sandwich he loved it– I tried it and thought it was amazing as well! This restaurant is in a great location for a fun afternoon, but even better the food is amazing! We’ll be back soon!

Their food is so good and it’s very authentic. How do I know that? I’m a Vietnamese. In fact, their food is as good as some very popular and famous Vietnamese restaurants in California, especially Little Saigon. Their«ba’nh mi‘’ is sooooo tasty.

Easily the best Vietnamese in KC. We’re phở snobs and their Phở does not disappoint. Their menu is really varied and has some Vietnamese dishes that other places don’t have. Really, this place is great. If you like Vietnamese food you owe it to yourself to eat here.

I’ve come here a few times. I wish their service has gotten better but it hasn’t that is why they are missing a star. Its very hard to get the waitresses attention to get refills, straws or napkins. However, beyond that, their food has improved. I have gotten phở the last three times I have been here for my children and myself. Its a thumbs up if my children eat everything in their bowl, which each time they have. I only come here for the phở, it seems to be the safest thing for me to eat. Past experience here made me want to give up on the place, because of my allergy to peanuts and having to repeat it consistently to the servers that had brought out my vermicilli and rice with peanuts all over it. So my recommendation is phở all the way if you are needing something warm and watery in your stomach!

Nguyen Phở and Grill is an affordable Vietnamese restaurant that offers a solid lunch. I visited with two friends on a winter weekday and was lucky enough to be able to park right next to the restaurant. The tofu spring rolls came with a light sauce that I found enjoyable. The rolls could have used more noodles. The lemongrass and jalapeño tofu with steamed rice was very good. Surprise, it had broccoli, which I very much appreciated. The jalapeño provided the right kick, and the lemongrass wasn’t overpowering. My entire meal came out to be less than $ 15. There is a vegetarian phở on the menu, but I played it safe. The service seemed overworked. There were not enough people to cover all the tables. As a result, ordering some tea to go took nearly fifteen minutes. One of my friends ordered a bottle of coke, which was just in a fridge on the other side of the restaurant. Had we known that, we would have walked over to grab it ourselves. I would return for lunch if I was in the area. I coincidentally ran into someone I knew who work nearby; Nguyen earns high marks for repeatability for those employed in the area.

As good as it gets! I long enjoyed phở on the west coast, but this little midwestern gem holds its own with any of them. We went a little crazy this particular day as we ordered spring rolls, crepes, two large bowls of phở, and bubble tea. All phenomenal by the way, and I would go back any time. I hope you can try if your in the neighborhood. Enjoy!

Very, very good. My husband and I split the sweet potato with shrimp, spring rolls, fried calamari, Vietnamese chicken taco and the Phở with tofu & broccoli. The calamari was okay, but the tempura batter is too heavy. The batter on the sweet potato and shrimp is a little heavy for me too. BUTTHETACO… YUMMY. My new favorite. The spring rolls are way above average, very fresh and served with hot(as in heated) peanut sauce. The Phở is fantastic and has an interesting broth. And here’s a big one… it’s VERYCLEAN.

I am giving this place one star because I am a tourist coming from California also vietnamese. I gave this place a try but left this place unsatisfied. I swear to god, this place is stingy as fuck when it comes to asking a bit more onions. ALSO I read here«free wifi» but when I asked they wouldn’t give it to me . When it comes to restaurant. the number one thing I am sure everyone looks for is service. If service is shit then why would I want to come back. Great way to ruin a tourist day with shitty service. Food is alright but God dam, don’t put«free wifi» if you aren’t going to provide any!

This place was great!!! I only wish I lived closer so I could become a regular. The place is clean and the food is excellent. My friends sat and talked for a long time and the servers didn’t hassle us or rush us. I can’t wait to go back!

We love coming to this restaurant. It’s clean, had good food. I always ordered v.7 Bun Bo Vie. It’s spicy noodle soup. My husband loved their Vietnamese crêpe so much. Other recommendations are shrimp spring rolls, charbroiled pork rolls, pork patties rolls, lemon grass pork with rice and definitely their Phở. Food is cheap too.

Best Phở in KC. I love the crispy calamari and spring rolls as well. My wife thinks they have best crab rangoon too(she doesn’t like alot of onion taste to her crab rangoons). Nice clean little place on the river market. The service was great. Brooth is perfect. Smooth with lots of taste and it’s not oily like some other Phở restaurants in KC. If you love Phở give this place a try. We decided to stop by after visiting the candy wizard on the river market and will make this at least a bi-weekly visit now. –KGuardKC

My wife and I started with the fried wontons and shrimp spring rolls which were both tasty. We really liked the peanut sauce that came with the spring rolls! For the main course we each ordered the large Phở with Eye-Round Beef. The servings were large, the bean sprouts and jalapeño’s were very fresh and the flavor was perfect. This really hit the spot on a dreary day!

Do Unilocalers like Nguyen Phở & Grill? Indeed they do, and as an experienced long-time member of this little community I too am a fan of this new addition to the bustling Vietnamese scene in and around the River Market area. Little things matter. Ah, yes, hints of fish sauce in my bun, but what’s this? A bottle of that goodness on the table. Score! Maybe I’m missing this but I don’t recall other restaurants in the area offering it as a condiment. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have a bottle of the stuff in my refrigerator at home so it’s no mystery to me. There’s no «on the fence» with fish sauce. You either love it or hate it. I love it. My meal of mostly pork but some shrimp bun came with sliced egg-rolls as is often customary. I don’t pretend to know enough about Vietnamese cuisine to know if egg-rolls are really a part of these dishes(I suspect this is an American thing) but I came for great food, not authenticity. One thing I note though, many restaurants clearly serve up yesterday’s dry, sometimes over-heated, unused egg-rolls in this dish. Not here. These were fresh, moist, and delicious. With a dash of fish sauce on them… a heavenly blast of flavor. My Thai iced coffee with condensed milk was spot on delicious. Would have liked it in a glass to appreciate the Carmel beauty created between the marriage of coffee, ice and milk, but it came in a Styrofoam cup with a straw and lid. Ah well. Not a huge deal. Décor, sparse and modern. As some have observed, this is a refreshing break from some Vietnamese dining spots. There’s a bit of hipness going on here with the open ceilings and concrete floors. One last thing that makes a great experience: I’d bet money I was being served by a family. Mom in the kitchen, dad helping out, kids waiting tables and delivering food. Well done, well done. If you’ve driven by many times as have I, go ahead and copy my decision to stop in last night. Glad I did.

I had crab Rangoon as the starter and it tasted a bit old and stale. I also had to ask for the silverware after our food came, and then ask for napkins. They said they were starting a new process for bringing out cutlery but obviously haven’t gotten the process down. My main however was very good. I had the rice dish with grilled pork. Some Vietnamese restaurants miss the mark on this classic dish, but this place did not. The side soup was not up to par with the main, it was very bland. My bf had the curry. It was served with bread which I’ve never seen before, but tasted good when dipped into the curry.
