I must admit that I was skeptical about this pick of coworkers due to the complex menu descriptions, but I’ll never second guess this decision. The wine list is outstanding and the appetizers are fresh and traditional Argentina with a more familiar Mediterranean flavor profile including sundried tomatoes, marinated vegetables, capers and citrus. I had the caprese salad, salmon and crème brûlée and I’d do it all over again if I could. The only problem is that I was over-stuffed when I left! I don’t think you can go wrong with this place and the city views are icing on the cake.

A friend recommended Piropos for our 25th wedding anniversary dinner. We were fortunate to be seated at the best table in the house, a very nice gesture on the part of a kind and friendly hostess. Everything got even better from there. Our waiter was excellent, answered all of our questions and even surprised us with an excellent desert. Our six course meal was outstanding, each course had its own distinctive flavor. Highlights include, the chopped salad, pincheta wrapped scallops, beef medallions and the lobster rossoto. The Tikal Malbec was also outstanding. We’ve been to Capital Grill on the Plaza, 801 and Fugo De Ciao, Bristol, and on this day, Piropos beat them all. Our new favorite restaurant in KC, wonderful meal and evening!

Fantastic food and service. Great drink and dessert options. Portion sizes were decent as well. We were celebrating and they gave us a complimentary dessert!

Food was amazing the lobster bisque. The halibut with the lobster risotto most delicate and wonderful meal ever.

Piropos is one of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City because the Argentinean cuisine is delish and the service is always kind and attentive and the ambiance is romantic and beautiful. At Piropos, a bread basket and amazing chimichurri sauce will start your meal. It’s easy to keep eating the bread with chimichurri, but save room for a tasty appetizer like the empanadas or crab cakes. I recommend sharing a bottle of Malbec and ordering one of their many tasty fish dishes or a Gaucho-styled steak. Buen provecho! I recently celebrated my birthday there and the service, food and overall experience was magical(and that’s just not the Malbec talking!) It truly is a wonderful dining experience and worth the visit.

Love Piropos, it is a little pricey but the main dishes are delicious! Beautiful views, beautiful atmosphere. My only complaint would be that I think the empanada appetizers are a little overpriced.

My husband and I LOVE Piropos. We have been twice for dinner, sat next to the fireplace with a pretty good view of Downtown. The sunsets were incredible with the large windows. Empanadas are a wonderful appetizer, the crab bisque is to die for, and all the steaks and sides we’ve tried are top notch. The service is phenomenal and the atmosphere is quiet and romantic. We traveled 5 hours from home just to eat here if that tells you anything!!!

Oh, Piropos how my wife and I used to love you so. It is with great disappointment that I am writing this review, because we used to LOVE this place. It was our go-to«fancy» date night restaurant. The food used to be spectacular, the service was impeccable and the ambiance was wonderful. A serious question for the management at Piropos: What has happened to the restaurant we used to love? Did you get a new chef? New management? Last week my wife and I decided to give Piropos a third chance…(the other two were complete disasters) the result: It was just mediocre. My steak had little-to-no flavor and the sauce was bland and not seasoned. Worse was my wife’s pasta. It was overcooked and so dry it looked like it had sat out for hours. We both agreed, she could have gotten better pasta at Olive Garden and Outback Steakhouse could have cooked a better steak. Not a good thing to know when your bill total is more than $ 100 for two people. Please understand, I do not write these reviews lightly. We both really *want* to still like this restaurant, but as of now, we have agreed, we won’t be going back. To the manager’s credit: He did offer to remake my wife’s pasta dish. However, it was so late into our evening, that we did not have the time nor patience to wait.

Food was great, price is high on some things but that comes with the quality and setting. The servers were very informing and on top of everything. Only thing I have a gripe about is the small table we had to sit at and how close we were to another table, but that’s not a huge issue. Would go again for sure

Love the atmosphere. Absolutely love it. But that’s the only thing that I can say I love about that place, and for prices like that I have to LOVE it. The portions were small, some seasoning was needed and the plating could have been a little neater/more presentable. The whole place was filled and there were only 2 servers so needless to say we were waiting on everything.

We were kept waiting a half hour despite that our reservation was at 8:30, and we were only seated after I got angry with the host. This was followed by mediocre service and food, topped off by a $ 225 bill. Would never eat here again.

Come for the view, stay for the food. I’d heard of this epic view of the KC skyline and the quality Argentinean cuisine here for years. And years. And years. yet I still hadn’t ventured up to Briarcliff. Utilizing the comprehensive KC Restaurant Week menu(Jan. 2016), I decided to finally give it a go. It was all around pretty good, but I can’t help but wonder if their normal menu isn’t a bit better overall? I had the Sandwich de Costilla(Grilled Prime Rib Sandwich served on Argentine Loaf with Stilton Bleu Cheese, Caramelized Onions & Chipotle Aioli with French Fries). Tasty, albeit a tad forgettable. The dessert was awesome(Churros al Chocolate with Caramel Stuffed Churros served with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, drizzled with Dulce de Leche & Chocolate Ganache) but I was too full to do much damage to it. Unfortunately on the January day we were there, freezing rain and clouds obstructed the famous skyline view. This would be a spot I would definitely revisit on a green, summer evening.

Even though I was underwhelmed by the Restaurant Week lunch options, I decided to go anyway because I wanted to have lunch with some friends. Boy, I am SO happy that I went! The options seemed a little dull, but I was absolutely blown away. Everything was incredibly delicious! The prime rib sandwich seemed like the best bet and it absolutely was! The prime rib was incredible! The sandwich was warm, gooey, and the meat was perfectly cooked. It was paired with fries which I surprisingly enjoyed as well, but they really aren’t worth mentioning. simply some good fries. The banana cake, however, was the best part of the meal! I was tempted to choose the churros because CHURROS… but after reading through Unilocal, the banana cake is one of the recommended items. And I absolutely know why now. Incredibly good. And with tons of drizzled créme anglaise and raspberry sauce. If I was alone, I would have licked the plate clean. To be fair, I find the menu itself rather uninspired. very few things jump right out at me. but I have been proven wrong. This lunch was incredible and I will absolutely be back for dinner sometime soon!

Tried this for KC’s Restaurant Week. For $ 33 we tried the asparagus soup(divine), the 10 oz. prime rib(to die for) and the chocolate churros(heavenly) paired with a red wine. They even offered a tasty non-alcoholic choice for the non-drinker. Oh, and I can’t forget the edible orchid and beautiful view of downtown KC.

We had a group of six of us for lunch during restaurant week. The set menu was very limited, two entrees and two desserts. Only two of our party guests chose the Restaurant week specials, but they were definitely the most impressive meals. We had a nice table, with the exception of the bright sunlight shining in our eyes(worse things could happen)! Our server was pleasant and attentive. Three of us ordered from the«Express Lunch Menu,» which is a «pick two» type option. We all chose the crab bisque and the house chopped salad. The other two chose from the Restaurant Week menu — the pasta special and the house salad with a pork chop. The crab bisque was tasty, but not very warm. There was a vary scarce amount of crab, many more croutons. The chopped salad was on the very small side and had a very slim serving of the pancetta sprinkled on the side. Maybe a nice roll or something would have rounded out the meal. The house salad with the pork chop and the pasta were both very impressive looking dishes and got good reviews! The desserts were the highlight of the meal — churros, drizzled with chocolate and caramel and cinnamon ice cream and a banana cake with a crème anglaise. Lucky for our group our friends like to share their calories! We had a very enjoyable lunch. The manager made a stop by our table to check on our satisfaction; he was very personable. Overall we had a great lunch experience!

We went to Piropos for my birthday last month. Piropos has been or go-to place for celebrating milestones in or family for a number of years. We were always impressed by the service and food quality. This time was a glaring exception. The service was mediocre at best. Our waitress was slow in responding to our needs. It took a long time to get our cocktails, and the server said the bartender was«tied-up». The restaurant was not full by any means, being an early Thursday evening. When our entrees arrived, one of the steaks was way undercooked and it took time to get someone’s attention to send it back for additional cooking. I went to the men’s bathroom to find, after using the facility, that there were no paper towels in the dispenser. I returned to our table to dry my hands on my napkin. I notified the gentleman who appeared to be the manager, and he seemed unconcerned. We may have to rethink whether to return to Piropos for our next celebration.

Of all my 10+ years in KC people have asked me over and over, «have you tried Piropos? It’s great!» Unfortunately I always replied no but always told myself that I would go. Today was finally that day. And disappointed I was not. The ambience is great. Different than traditional steak houses in that it was very open and nicely lit with natural light. Accenting the dining area were boldly colored paintings which took you further into Argentina. The waiter was very friendly and truly concerned about our well being throughout the meal which was very nice and made us feel at home. The food… Brie with apricot spread. The apricot was so fresh and complemented be Brie nicely. Started with a glass of Argentinian Malbec(Filus) which was one of the best I have tasted and went well with the steak… peppercorn encrusted filet medium rare… awesome. Succulent and full of flavor after a sip of the Filus. The eight ounce was a perfect size for this evening. Churros with ice cream and chocolate dipping sauce… decadent sauce! Not too rich but just perfect. Warm and complementing the ice cream. We would definitely come back to Piropos and I recommend the same you my friend. Cheers fellow palatteers.

Piropos is one of my favorite restaurant in Kansas City, I’m surprised that I have not written a review for this wonderful place. The food is awesome and the service is always great. Definitely a place for special occasions. The most recent visit I have was last Sunday, when we decided to check out their Kansas City Restaurant Week menu. We were greeted promptly upon arrival, and we were being seated right away. The KCRW menu shows great varieties of selection, and we were all able to find what we like on the menu. I usually ordered the lamb dish they have on the dinner menu, but decided to try the KCRW menu instead. For the first course, I had the soup(crab bisque), which was a little bit too salty for my taste. Our soups unfortunately came out cold, not even the room temperature, but our server was very helpful, apologized, brought them back and heated them up for us. As for main entrée, I had the seafood platter, which consists of grilled shrimp, tilapia and scallop. The seafood were well cooked and properly seasoned. We all did enjoy our meal a lot. The last course was dessert, and we had the chocolate churros and banana cake, they were delicious and were the perfect ending of the meal. I would highly recommend this place for those who appreciate great food, great service and great ambiance. Request for a table by the window facing Kansas City Downtown for the gorgeous view too!

Empanadas, crab bisque, peppercorn crusted filet, twin lobster tails over potato hash … I think my point is quite clear this place is amazing. The price is something you can easily overlook as long as you are going for a nice meal and a cozy setting with the one you adore. It was an enjoyable evening and let’s not forget the very noms worthy three layer chocolate mousse cake that topped it all off.

Came here for my first time last night for the BF’s birthday. If you can get a table that has the great view of KC, it’s ideal. The restaurant has fantastic ambiance and the food is delicious. There is a $ 25 corkage fee if you bring your own bottle of wine but if you choose to «wine» in, they have a good list to pick from. The staff is very much willing to please and give you the best dining experience possible. As an appetizer we had the crab cakes, which were very crabby and had a yummy sauce paired with them and tried the caprese and three cheese empanada– all were yummy! For dinner, I ordered the daily catch mixed grill that came with Mahi-Mahi, scallops, shrimp and(upgraded to) lobster risotto. Highly recommend the lobster risotto. The BF got lobster with a side of lobster risotto(yes, he likes lobster) and asparagus. Both meals were decadent and we were quite pleased. We got a dessert on the house since it was his birthday and we chose the triple layer chocolate mousse cake. Very good. My only reason for giving it a 4 rather than a 5 is because our server kept disappearing for extended periods of time so it was quite odd. We ended up serving ourselves wine and making do with what we had. Other than that, I would definitely come back here. Everything was fantastic.
