Specialties

Our mission is to build brighter futures for children and adults with disabilities. We do this by providing comprehensive medical rehabilitation and employment placement services. We specialize in helping children and adults with complex disabilities such as spinal cord injury, brain injury, and stroke achieve their greatest level of independence for participation in home, school or work, and in the community.

History

Established in 1947.

RIKC was established in 1947 to help disabled servicemen returning home from World War II receive medical and vocational rehab services. With $ 7,500 from the Easter Seal Society, the Junior League, and the National Foundation The Institute opened it’s doors. The staff of four served 141 patients in the small loft space.

Since 1947 RIKC has expanded it’s range of programs and services, staff, and operating space while maintaining the mission of building brighter futures for children and adults with disabilities.

As the «place-to-go» for complex neurological conditions and life altering disabilities, RIKC employs the best and brightest medical, employment, and personnel staff in the area to help each child, teenager, and adult engage in life’s most important activities.
