This review is from our stay at this hotel from July 2015. I really love the Ambassador hotels and have visited their sister hotels in Wichicta and OK city.
Staff:
This was my 2^nd time visiting this site and per usual everyone was very friendly and informative.
Room & bathroom:
Beautiful, huge and clean room with comfortable robes. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom is pretty, well lit and clean.
Restaurant:
There is beautiful restaurant inside the hotel. We dined there pretty much every night and really enjoyed our meals. They also have a nice collection of appetizers for happy hour. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
All in all I had a wonderful time and will return again.

Great guy working the front desk. Opened the door for us, offered us a selection of rooms available to choose from. He also gave us a quick run down of KC and some good local BBQ places we should try. OH, HE also demonstrated how to use the key pads for the parking garage. The rooms are OUT OF THIS WORLD nice. $ 18 self serve parking or $ 20 for valet. That’s kind of a no Brainer They also have a Lincoln car that acts as their free shuttle service for anything in a 5 mile radius. Great Hotel.

I really wanted to give this a 4 or 5 rating but had to give a 3 due to a couple of issues. We were unexpectedly staying in KC on Valentine’s Day night and had to find a hotel, great! Luckily when calling the Reserve hey had availability and the lady on the phone took my reservation. Sadly she took my details incorrectly so I never got my email booking confirmation.
Upon arrival the lady at the front desk gave really poor customer service. No hello or niceties, she seemed annoyed we showed up. When she gave me my print out on checkin I saw my name had been spelled wrong and I asked if she could correct and re-email me my confirmation, and she said no! Ok, sorry to have bothered you.
The room itself was great. Really big for the price, the bed was large and comfy, nice bathroom (even if the mirror was cracked!) Free wifi and tv. The restaurant/bar area was really impressive too, and the lady tending bar that night was amazing — friendly and super-welcoming. There is also parking next to the hotel ($ 18 + tax).
Sadly when we checked out I had someone else’s bill billed to my account taking me into overdraft. The problem fixed itself but I ended up paying more than I should have!
Summary: great hotel but needs to fix a few things for it to really be up there and comparable to some other hotels I’ve stayed in. Saying that, I would stay again if I am back in KC.

Came in on a late Saturday night, to a near empty bar and lobby. Bar is fully stocked with beautiful furniture, accented with fur blankets and pillows. I ordered a ginger craft drink with hints of pineapple, which was absolutely delicious. Because the lobby was so quiet, I was a bit confused as to how we should behave, so I caught myself whispering a lot of the time until some other patrons arrived. Our bartender was also very nice and would take our orders from our table, versus the bar. The lobby itself is absolutely beautiful, with so many different architectural views. We had a lot of fun, in our party of three, but would have preferred some music or a livelier gang.

Small boutique hotel. Now part of Marriott chain. More edgy and hip in design and attitude. Had a quick trip to Kansas City and wanted to try something different from the Raphael Hotel. Another Marriott property that’s more grand dame old school hotel
Parking next door and in a commercial block that’s not exactly a luxury dining and shopping area. Small lobby and bar area and small hallways but good sized rooms and baths. Worth a try if in KC.

As I have matured in my travels I have discovered the beauty of convenience thus my affection for a boutique hotel where it doesn’t take a «train ride» to get to your room, no parking in a multi level parking garage, or a mile fitness walk to get a night cap at the hotel bar. The Ambassador in Kansas City, MO is the epitome of luxurious quaintness with first class personality convenience, and service… not to avoid mentioning great interior design! I believe the positioning of the high back «tilt-o-whirl» looking chairs in the lobby area were even put there with purpose… sit in one! It’s like a sound proofed oasis for one wanting to chill. I loved the cozy business center set off in a book with a view of Grand Ave, the marble kept in tact from the buildings original contraction, and the coffee in the lobby when you arrive late and need a quick pick me up to get your stuff hauled in. The food in the hotel is first class at reasonable prices. I lived the burger, cheesecake, truffle fries, ice cream with chocolate sauce, the locally roasted Roasterie coffee and local bread served at breakfast, and the steak and Guinness pie. The room was elegant and spacious with high ceilings, strong crown mounding, and a huge luxury bath. We hibernated in our room one entire night even though we should’ve been out seeing the city!

This has to be the best Marriott option in KC. Great boutique vibe. Neighborhood seems like it’s in transition but with Cosentino’s (essentially KC Whole Foods) and One Life Fitness (essentially KC Equinox) nearby, this is ideal if you’re traveling here for work. House car was fantastic.

Sophisticated upscale hotel. This is my second stay here and I love it. It’s not an inexpensive hotel but you get what you pay for. The second you walk in its all about customer service. Let them know where you want to eat and where you want to go and they will shuttle you around in an escalade or nice suburban. Patrick brought us to a couple places and he was a compliment to the hotel. Very friendly and informative.
The beds and pillows were very nice, this is usually not the case for my tastes.
If you’re looking for a classy upscale, clean, sophisticated and something close to the event center and other places of interest come stay at the Ambassador, I guarantee your going to love it.

My husband’s recent birthday was perfect — thanks to The Ambassador. It is conveniently placed near the Power and Light District — but there is quiet and privacy. Secure parking was available.
The concierge, Suk, was really amazing in his attention to details. When we went to the bar for a late lunch, they were quite busy tending to a wedding party. Suk came over, took our order and saw to our needs. He also made a car available to get us to our destinations and back.
Our room was beautiful and so comfortable. We enjoyed the shower and robes.
The food was also quite good and had fun flavors — a fruit chutney with cheese was really a great treat.
In short, it was a wonderful overnight vacation for us.
It would be nice if the hotel did invest in a Tesla wall charger in their parking lot. But, that won’t stop us from returning.

Great hotel. Great location. Great service.
That sums it up really. The staff was always super courteous and friendly from the valet to the desk to guest services to the waiters in the lounge. Check-in was easy. Valet was always quick without a wait. We needed a rollaway bed for a friend for one night, it was delivered and set up quick and was actually comfortable she said. The room was very nice, love the décor, soft and elegant. Chairs in the room were comfortable. The walk-in shower was huge with a big glass door (funny how it faces the bathroom mirror however so you see yourself when showering). The vanity was nice. The room stayed VERY cool with the AC. Bedding and linens was comfortable. The room was cleaned back to pre-checkin status the next day. The Keurig coffee maker was a nice touch as well as the complimentary bottled water, which we got more of in the lobby with fresh cookies. There was a mini bar with sodas and snacks in the room available. The wardrobe had a safe but also two very plush spa robes. A bit heavy and warm for me but in winter it if just chilling in the room, perfect. The location is perfect. Just one block away from he Sprint Center and Power Light district. Very quick walk and on the Main Street so you feel very safe.
I only have a couple minor complaints which aren’t really a big deal. One, the bathroom door. I loved the sliding frosted glass door to look at. Just another one of those «touches» like the Picasso print art and interesting globe fixtures and lamps in the room. BUT, it didn’t shield out the light if one was in the bathroom while others are sleeping. And it didn’t deter any sound. Whatsoever. So, depending on your traveling companion, this could pose a problem. LOL.
I also would have liked a pay per view movie option since hotels with this feature often have movies still in theaters available. We did however have two HBO channels and quite a long cable selection
Lastly, it was nice to have the iHome device which normally you can charge and use your iPhone but it’s outdated. Anyone with a 5 forward, needs a lightning connection so would suggest they update.

I can’t tell you how much I love this hotel. I travel an enormous amount on business and quite literally from the moment I walked in the door here, I knew it would be the best place I’ve ever stayed for work. I was warmly welcomed by a very friendly concierge {Dominique} who was quick to offer the hotel’s complimentary Cadillac Escalade to drive me anywhere in the city. Um, what?! Amazing! The driver {Burt} was just as awesome. Both offered me great recommendations on what to do, what to see and, most importantly, what to eat while here. Very cool staff here. Oh, lest I forget to mention the complimentary WiFi {so ridiculous that I usually have to pay for it}, bottled water, coffee and tea. And the décor and ambiance is perfection. Modern but elegant. I may never leave!

The Ambassador Hotel offers quality lodging at a fair price, along with good service. I recommend it as an alternative to the sameness of the chains found outside of downtown.
The owners did a nice job re envisioning what was once a title company building into the hotel: extra points for retaining the historic nature of the place.
The hotel also happens to be within walking distance of the few remaining jazz clubs for which the town was once known. Take advantage of their proximity if your schedule allows.

My party had a drink in the bar after a concert at the sprint ctr. What a beautiful spot! Modern and hip, with beautiful light fixtures and these comfy cocoon-like chairs. The drinks were great and so was the staff. We settled for a great evening of drinks and fun!
I may need to find an excuse to stay overnight in downtown kc so I can see the rooms.

I love it.
Remember when downtown Kansas City wasn’t much more than an Osco Drug and the Italian Gardens restaurant? (Where at one time, Eddie Griffin might have valet parked your car! …or your parents car) Well, now it’s about a thousand times less sucky. This is a great town, my hometown. BUT, one thing it’s always been lacking is good boutique hotels (also light rail). To be fair, visits to Portland, Oregon have set my number-of-cool-boutique-hotels standard fairy high (also my light rail standard).
Prior to discovering the still new-ish Ambassador, I could only think of ONE other cool, small, unique hotel in Kansas City: The Raphael… and if you’re a fan of that place, you’ll probably love this one too.
It has great rooms, friendly service, easy parking, a driver who will take you all over town (suck on that, no-light-rail-having K.C.!). It’s close to stuff… we even walked home from the Westside Local restaurant and Westside Storey shop, on the now very hip (I hate that word, but it’s true) Summit St.
**Aside: I love being able to walk through downtown and actually end up AT a place now… instead of just strolling past old, closed places that used to be things.**
The Ambassador’s hotel bar is modern and the kind of place I’d love to wander into if I just lived in the neighborhood. Good cocktails, not too loud or crazy. I sat in one of their cool leathery egg chairs and watched the end of a Royals game.
They serve dinner, but I didn’t have it.
I have one gripe — and young, new couples take note: The bathroom door in our room (we had a corner suite) had only a sliding glass door that does very little to block out sound (turn on the TV if you have to poop), AND from the right angle, you could peek through it… you pervert. It’s not enough to drop the place from 5-stars, but it’s worth noting.

After a Unilocal event and a couple happy hours, we were happy to make the Ambassador Hotel the place we spent our wedding night.
The tiny little wedding was in the afternoon, followed by tapas and booze for the 28 guests at our house. We didn’t plan an immediate honeymoon but didn’t want to spend our wedding night cleaning up after a party. The Ambassador fit the bill.
We arrived around 8, made our way through the gauntlet of parking and back around to the only entrance — in the front of the building. This may be the first downside, to me it’s unfortunate to park in the rear and have to walk back around to the front to enter. Lucky for us it was May 17^th and not February 17^th.
The front desk receptionist asked if we were doing anything fun for the weekend and this was the first time we told them we had gotten married. She congratulated us and we were on our way to our room.
We dropped off our bags, hung out for a while, and headed downstairs for our first husband and wife cocktails. A fitting location since this was the first place we had pictures taken as a couple at a Unilocal event about two years earlier.
It was a long day. 9 pm felt like 2 am so we headed back to the room in our marriage fog and soon crashed.
The next downside happened at 3 am when the bar across the street closed it’s doors and the occupants emptied onto the street within shouting distance of the hotel. Though no fault of the Ambassador, I really hope that can be fixed soon. I’ve stayed in hotels in busy cities but this crowd was just jerks.
It wasn’t until the next morning that we found the card. The card they must have snuck into our room when they saw us in the restaurant. The card from the staff congratulating us on our marriage and thanking us for choosing the Ambassador for our stay.
For all the great décor, fantastic food, great cocktails, friendly staff, and overall wonderful vibe, it was that card, virtually free of cost, that sealed this 5-star rating. Thoughtfulness has no price and yet has unlimited value.

My stay at Ambassador Hotel was amazing! I want to go back. It is a luxurious hotel that is a dream come true to stay at. I knew from the moment I stepped in it was going to be a good one.
The lobby and restaurant area is big and beautiful. It’s very trendy and gives off those metropolitan vibes. I had breakfast here on the last night and it was pretty darn good. Sometimes hotel food can be very hit or miss but they knocked that meal out of the park! I had a breakfast sandwich with «home fries» which were perfectly seasoned.
Enough with the food. These rooms are truly luxurious.
I had a king bed and tons of space to empty my bag on the floor. The bed was perfect and had plenty of pillows. You could maybe make a fort if your heart desires one. You truly feel pampered after sleeping here.
I really liked the bathrooms, too. The bathroom was large and had a big shower. They also provided complimentary water bottles and some snacks for purchase.
The staff here are spectacular. All of my interactions were super professional but very personal at the same time. One of the concierges recommended an awesome bar called «The Green Lady» and it was a spot-on recommendation. So glad he sent us somewhere cool and unique!
One of the coolest things about this hotel is they have a complimentary shuttle. The catch is it has to be within 5 miles of the hotel but it’s still a plus! If you give them a call before 11:00PM, they’ll even pick you up! This made the small city adventures I experienced even more convenient.
One more thing, they have their own parking which is nice but it is about $ 16 – 18 a day which is a little pricey. You pay for convenience! It’s very close and even gated. I’m sure if this is too much you can find a cheaper lot down the street.

I love this hotel so much, it may not be quite healthy. While I haven’t physically stayed here (I mean, I live in KC), I have had a ton of experience with the facility and the staff, and it’s all top notch.
I always, ALWAYS suggest my traveling coworkers stay in this hotel. Booking is a snap, the staff is readily available to accommodate special requests, and the rooms are posh and oh-so-cozy (Yes I’ve been in the rooms, but no i haven’t stayed in them.) In my opinion, the best amenity is their complimentary shuttle that’ll cart you around to anywhere within a 5 mile radius. That gets you to most of the quality areas of KC, and is a breeze to use. I mean, the price is right and KC isn’t exactly a cab-friendly town.
I’ve also used the hotel for a variety of work functions. Their special events team is professional, responsible and helpful. They’re great at keeping up with emails and other communication, making sure that details are considered. We’ve been able to bring in their restaurant (Reserve, which deserves it’s own separate review) to help cater these events, and people have always enjoyed the food. If you’re looking to host a medium-sized special event at a hotel, I would always recommend the Ambassador.
Read up on what others have said about the décor, as they’re spot on. It’s a beautiful property. Modern without being cold. They need to give their designer a nice bonus check.
