LOVE this Nursery! While staying with family, I had the pleasure of visiting this nursery after enjoying the garden center across the street and have to say, I was even more impressed (no offense garden center– I’m just more of a specialized plant person).
This place has that retro modern industrial feel with the polished cement floors and the cool, exposed metal beams overhead. Their inventory is HUGE and the layout is really well done. I could stroll the entire store (inside and outside) without feeling overwhelmed like some nurseries back home make me feel. Gary, the owner and «plant doctor» is almost Zen like in his manner. He’s calm, an amazing listener and really knows plants! Seriously, I challenge you to randomly pick part of a plant and take it into the nursery, and this guy Gary, with one glance, will be able to identify the botanical origin, specific specie and optimal habitat!
I saw this first hand when I had to wait to speak with him because one of his ‘regulars’ came with in plant stem from her garden. It didn’t look well and was obviously dying. I watched the owner, Gary, listen to her concerns and than, when she was finished, he picked it up in his hands like a pediatrician holds a baby and diagnosed the problem on the spot. He explained to her exactly what she needed to do and not to do, and off she went with a smile.
This place isn’t just a business that sells an enormous variety of beautiful plants and garden decorations, this place is a plant retreat that really speaks to the term «nursery». The love and care of these wonderful and well-​loved plants from staff who have worked there for years and years is clear to see the moment you walk in.
