The Surplus Exchange is a certified e-Steward and sits on the e-Steward Council. We recycle electronics with zero landfill and 100% domestic processing and reuse. We have a retail computer and tech shop that offers affordable repairs and refurbished computers, full computer systems, computer parts and other reusable electronic items.
We sell used office furniture and supplies at budget friendly prices and offer a membership program to non-profits.
History
Established in 1986.
Established when our founder saw large amounts of reusable office furnishings in alleys, dumpsters and landfill. He decided at that point, to contact companies that were disposing of office furniture and pick those items up and offer them to non-profits at minimal prices in keeping with their small budgets. We soon opened to the public and not long after, Surplus Exchange began taking electronics to refurbish.
Surplus Exchange was the first company to become a pledged e-Steward and the first to become a certified recycler in the Kansas City area; one of the first five in the world! It is the only company in the Midwest to be an e-Stewards Founder. The only company in the Midwest to sit on the e-Stewards planning committee. It is also the only company in the Midwest to sit on the Solar Panel Recycling Committee.
We are dedicated to sustainability, keeping e-waste from landfill and from polluting other countries. We do it right and are proud of it. We offer tech shop repairs and more.
