I ordered veggie pizza, which was okay. I also ordered a pineapple juice and rum, only to be told there wasn’t any pineapple juice. We sat at a table in the bar area and there was absolutely no one to take our drink or food order, so we had to constantly get up to go order at the bar. Overall, it wasn’t a terrible experience but not somewhere I’m likely to go back to.

Great turnout tonight but seriously unimpressed with the bartending staff. They should have expected the influx of HAHAHJUSTKIDDINGTHEYSERVEDMEPRAISETHELORDBYE

Great neighborhood staple. The staff is great, and, typically, quick even when very busy. In particular, Jason, a bartender went above and beyond one night to help us. We were very grateful and really appreciated his extra effort. Cheers to Jason! Since the new owners have taken over, the menu and inside have bothreceived updates. All of which are great. My only gripe is that their best menu item, the Dry Rubbed Wings, are never available anymore. They take them off the menu when it is busy or on game day. That is why we typically come! Today we heard«we ran out of dry rub seasoning.» If the owners get this message — bring back the dry rub wings. Figure out how to make it work in the kitchen. We have introduced these to so many people to these and now they never seem to be available.

Advertised $ 2.50 bottles during happy hour. When happy hour happened to coincide with Royals game and a marginally crowded bar, they decided it was more profitable for them to dishonor the happy hour menu on every table and increase the price by 50% to $ 3.75. I only found out about the bait ‘n switch when the tab arrives. Smart move for them. They definitely made more money that day. When I talked to the manager his response was, «what’s your end game here?» Ha. What does that even mean you moron? My «end game» is to get my tab reduced to the price you advertise on your own menu on every table in your bar. He would not honor their menu price and proceeded to gouge me and every other customer in there. I got tired of talking to him and paid my $ 18.75 tab that should have been $ 12.50. The people who run this place are sleazy and no business will thrive on stunts like that. I predict the bar will be for sale [again] within a few months.

I’ve been going here for years but my last experience is my final visit to the Brooksider. The bartender was horribly rude. Thr Bar was empty and yet he appeared completely annoyed to help us and we even got a few eye rolls. We left very soon and went to Charlie Hooper where everyone was friendly and nice.

It’s what you’d expected out of a sports bar which isn’t a bad thing. Our group went there last week, and the prices are more than fair, I paid 7 bucks for my burger and they have a decent tap list with some local and national craft beers. Lots of TVs to watch sports games on and the space itself is fairly open so it would be great for a group who was getting together. I haven’t been there late at night so I can’t speak for that, but for a happy hour or sporting event during the week the Brooksider would be a good place.

I didn’t have very high expectations once The Brooksider reopened under new management/ownership, but decided to give one my old favorite hang outs a shot. I adored the staff, before closing, and even formed bonds with a lot of them. I quickly realized that only a mere few returned upon reopening. The predominately male bar staff was a disappointment as well, especially when the bartender couldn’t put his phone down long enough to acknowledge my presence. His counterpart, appearing to be the only female bartender, though friendly and cute, her look of confusion upon even the easiest of orders made it evident that she had never poured a drink in her life. The food remained the same quality as before, though the menu has changed, leaving a few fan favorites off of the current one. But, it still exceeds the expectations of standard bar food. It was a fairly busy night, so the wait on food was to be expected. But, it may have come out slightly quicker and warmer had the manager, ie the kid sitting at the end of the bar on his computer, had lifted a finger to help out his clearly unexperienced team of waitresses. All and all, poor service, poor management, nice TVs.

Went for the first time last night. Went for s couple beers but saw people’s food coming out and it looked great so decided to try. My wife had the Drummond wings that taste like smoked wings a little heavy on the rub-decent. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich which was tasty and huge. Definitely will have it again. Maybe cut back on the entire salad they place on it as it makes it messy. Overall good food and nice place.

Have to add a star due to all of the updating that they have done over the past 4 – 6 weeks! The patio is inviting and refreshed with new paint, new lighting and a new menu(yay! The Cuban sandwich is back). If you’re hankering for a fabulous patio with a great happy hour, make your way back to the newly improved Brooksider!

Pretty solid, but I’m four months pregnant and just reviewing for food, saving some stars for the full bar experience. I was out of town for a year, and didn’t realize that this place had, indeed, closed, and then reopened under new management during our year away with the Navy. It’s a good bet for lunch, being near my spouse’s workplace, and they have well-priced lunch specials. We had the chicken fried steak, which came with mashed potatoes and seasoned green beans and a roll. Rolls were a little stale, but the rest of the food was top notch. CFS can be greasy, this was tender but not greasy in the least, and the potatoes were top-notch. Veggies well-seasoned. The waitstaff during lunch was small and stretched a bit thin, but we weren’t ignored or anything, and she was brusque at first but warmed up. I like the spaciousness and the layout. I’m not a big sports/sports bar person, just go for the food and drink specials, but their TV setup seemed like it would be one of the better places for watching games if you’re into that. The patio seems like it would be decent on a nice day, as well.

Back to five stars! Improved menu and back to the hand made food. Once again the best bar food in KC. Still the best place to watch a game within 75 miles.

Really wanted to give this place another chance with the new management. Great service from the bartenders during the Brookside parade– but zero service on the patio Sunday evening. Waited for 10 minutes while the one waitress approached one table at a time, then waited at the bar while the bartender served each individual order. Gave up.

This used to be a great bar good menu fun staff good drinks… now that they have reopened the food is terrible and the wait staff will spill at least half your drink before you get it. But yes they did get more tvs

Eh. That about sums it up. Since new ownership food is ok. Certainly nothing special. Waitress was surly at best. It’s too bad. They did have great food and great service under previous owners. At least they didn’t take away all the TVs. We won’t be back.

We tried to go there on a Thrusday night, and it was closed. A waitress at another restaurant said they were out of business.

Really enjoyed this bar and could tell on a game day it would be a lot of fun. There probably isn’t one bad seat in the place since there are TVs covering every wall. The bartender was attentive and drinks were served quickly and cold. My only complaint was the TV volume was a bit loud and difficult to hear others when they’re talking. Other than that it was great and I look forward to hanging out here again!

All I can say is their wings are out of this world! I would definitely go here instead of BWW or Hooters for wings hands down. Of course, I know some of you guys go for the scenery. lol This is also a great place to go and watch a game as they have TV’s everywhere!

I’ve only come here for the Zeros and a few drinks, and I have no complaints! I am a child of the 70s and 80s, so serve me Depeche Mode! I have not thought about coming here for games… although it is a sports bar and would work quite well for that considering the TVs everywhere. Note you can enter from the back parking lot or the front door… your choice!

My boyfriend and I have been to Brooksiders in the past for trivia and really enjoyed it. We ordered food at Brooksiders in the past and thought it was decent. I had a going away party at Brooksiders yesterday. I sent out invitations to my friends 2 weeks in advance to meet me up at Brooksiders for trivia. We are a large 935 member social group in the Kansas City area and we enjoy going to trivia at local bars. About 9 of my friends show up and most of us ordered food. My boyfriend and I ordered the chicken fried steak. My food was at the same standard as dining hall food. My steak was tough. The mashed potato’s were thick and pasty. The bread was so dry, it crumpled in my hands. My boyfriend also disliked his food and he loves chicken fried steak. My friends were also disappointed with their food. They messed up their steak multiple times. Didn’t bring out their appetizer until after their meal and also messed that up. My boyfriends brother ordered the same beer I ordered before I ordered mine, he received his beer in a glass and mine came in a small plastic cup, and I had to pay the same price as him. We had called up in advance to ask if they were still doing trivia they told 2 of us that they were doing trivia. We asked the waitress multiple times if they were doing trivia and she told us they were starting trivia an hour late because of the game. We waited around well over an hour and our waitress finally informed us that trivia was cancelled because of the game. My going away party was a nightmare and I was embarrassed because I had asked my friends to come out for trivia for me and trivia didn’t happen. I felt like our waitress was purposely telling us that trivia was going to happen so we would stay longer and buy food and drinks. I was so irritated that on top of no trivia, our food was terrible, and service was bad too.

I had been here a few years ago and didn’t like it. Good to know little changes here. It’s such a mediocre bar that pours weak, charges higher than it should, and has below-average service from bartenders who think they’re a lot cooler than they really are. And probably a bit too old to work at this kind of bar. Their beer selection is better than you’d think, though. The seating situation is awful. There are a couple decent sized tables, but those fill up early. Past that, if you have more than a couple people, you’re pretty much screwed. You can either roll together a few round tables(we all know how that goes… half the surface area is wasted), or most people end up standing. Lame. Add to that the $ 5 cover for a band that was just… absolutely awful. And the songs they chose… my gosh, who could«get crazy» to bad remakes of Coldplay, Maroon 5 and Michael Jackson? They assured us it would get crazy… but get crazy it did not. I will give it one thing — the patio is large and enjoyable on a nice night, with an outdoor bar. Ok, two things — the bathrooms are surprisingly clean(as is the entire place, for the most part). Note that doesn’t mean spotless… it means surprisingly clean for this type of place.
