Welcome to Kauai Adventure Photography Workshops! We offer educational adventure experiences for anyone looking to take their photography to the next level. We provide experienced, insider knowledge about the island, and professional hands-on photography education.

Our workshops are designed to provide an unforgettable adventure as well as rare and exciting photo opportunities. We like to keep it fresh and no two workshops are ever exactly the same. Our instructors provide knowledgeable, hands on learning relating to the technical and conceptual aspects of on-location photography. This is immersive education for all adventure seekers with a passion for photography and travel. Delve deeper into the spirit of beautiful Hawaii than the average tourist experience will allow, and come away with a meaningful story through your images.

Patrick K.

Business Owner

Patrick is a traveler, award winning photographer and a naturalist at heart. An avid diver, camper, climber, hiker and biker, his interests have led him on adventures around the world over the last decade.

He studied fine art photography and has a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

He is represented by the National Geographic International Image Collection and does assignment work both at home and overseas for commissioned and independent photography projects. After starting his own freelance worldwide photography company he decided to relocate from Minnesota to Kauai in an effort to find new inspirations. I booked a split session with Patrick as an anniversary gift for my husband. He is an amateur photographer but was very interested in learning more. The sessions were wonderful and my husband said he learned more in those sessions than he had in the past 30 years. It was well worth it! The places Patrick took us to were amazing and I enjoyed tagging along. Patrick is so knowledgable, friendly and down-to-earth. This was definitely a highlight of our trip to Kauai!

We booked this wonderful trip a couple of months in advance because our friends said that Patrick and Mallory were outstanding photographers plus and more importantly — reliable, honest and good people. We were not disappointed. They both are outstanding instructors, were on time, gave us our money’s worth and then some. I would strongly recommend this company to or for anyone interested in learning more about photography as well as a quick review of PAMS and other setting on their camera. I would pay again to have the benefit of their instruction, time and efforts.

Patrick and Mallory are extremely knowledgable, easy and fun to work with, and have amazing energy… both in physical stamina and in ‘vibes’!
I learned so much and I couldn’t be happier. Practical experience in the field is so critical, and there’s no better setting for all types of photography situations than beautiful Kauai. I learned long shutter releases by a gorgeous waterfall and at the beach, ‘nighttime’ photography in an astonishingly cool cave and on cliffs by an old lighthouse, how to use filters, and a host of other truly invaluable information.
I promise you this: you’ll get your money’s worth and then some! I’ve had to email them quite a few times after the workshop and they were STILL kind, helpful, and found resources to get me the items I needed. They don’t just drop you like a hot potato once you’ve paid and had your workshop… you seem to become part of the Kauai Photo Adventure family. Will definitely have another outing with them next time I get to Kauai!

I was on Kauai with my family and was not able to spend quality time doing photography, so Kauai Adventure Photography came to the rescue! I contacted Patrick and was lucky enough to make arrangements for the very next day, with Mallory! I signed up for a 6 hour block, to be split between sunrise and sunset, on the same day.
Mallory was kind enough to pick me up at our condo at 5:00am and took me to the Lihue Lighthouse for the sunrise. It is an awesome location. Mallory has particular formulas for exposure and aperture to produce specific results for different effects from the waves crashing on the rocks, etc.
Mallory is a very creative, passionate, patient and experienced photographer and teacher. I learned a number of very helpful settings and also important to me, composition ideas. It was a lot of fun and educational.
Mallory again picked me up later in the day to go shoot sunset at Spouting Horn. It was a blast and the pictures came out great.
I highly recommend this company for new or experienced photographers to learn new techniques, hang out with professionals and find new locations to shoot. This experience gave me confidence to go out and shoot on my own during the remainder of my vacation, with the new tools that I learned from Mallory.

This isn’t your ordinary «hop on a bus and make stops» photography workshop. This is a hands on workshop where you will learn how to take better pictures and you will see unique areas of Kauai that you otherwise wouldn’t have seen.
My girlfriend and I were looking for a unique activity to do while in Kauai. Both of us were pretty new at photography but Patrick convinced us the sunrise to sunset tour was for us.
It was out of this world and well beyond our expectations — and that’s an understatement!
Not only did we get solid shots thanks to Mallory’s help, we understand how to use our camera a lot better AND we got to hike to see some of Kauai’s hidden gems.
It was a REALLY nice day and the highlight of our trip to Hawaii.
Next time we visit Kauai, we’re doing this workshop again. :)

Good photography is related to knowing where to be and when. As easy as it may seem, it is anything but simple when you are half the world away. Patrick took me to amazing places, shared remarkable stories and guided me in seeing the heart of Kauai. His valuable, intimate, knowledge of the island greatly enriched my whole experience. But the best part of the tour was how he shares the same emotions being faced with the unexpected of the day: randomly running into a man playing Native American flutes in a cave, seeing the the pure enthusiasm of someone that has just moved to the island, locals rope jumping into a water paradise, a perfect mid-day storm during the lunch break or a two hour twilight I have never seen in my life. This was not a photography workshop, it was a magic carousel. Thank you Patrick, Mallory and Morgan! I will never forget that day.

This workshop was invaluable. We bought a new DSLR for our honeymoon and had no idea how to use it before meeting Patrick. He worked with us and showed us the basics and some more advanced settings. He also let us use his tripod and a better lens for some of the night photos. He took us to two different, but equally beautiful locations and the photos came out spectacular. Using the information that Patrick taught us we were able to take a lot of great photos during the remainder of the honeymoon too! Definitely recommend this workshop to anyone of any skill level who is looking to take some beautiful pics in some unique locations on Kauai.
