Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy

Ok, not what I wanted to do but…
We’re Elite SVC and have been coming here on the regular. So, note to self request 2^nd or 3^rd floor. Why? We had a critter in our place. Being that we’re on ground floor, I get it, I just didn’t want them in my room. The maintenance guy came and set traps but sadly weren’t caught by the time we left.
So, the ONE star was for this incident. We will definitely return, just won’t stay on ground floor :) oh, we did request to change rooms but all were booked.

I went to the Beachboy Bar next to the pool and the beach and had a Ahi Caesar salad with a guava juice.
Verdict: good outdoor place for a light quick (but good!) lunch. The ahi was perfectly seared and seasoned (spicy) and the salad was more on the light side for sauce (which I like!).

Had a great 1 week stay from the condo we stayed in viewing the ocean outside our door to the beautiful pool, and tiki lights all over the resort. Our couples massage to our concierge who helped arrange our weeks adventures. A big Mahalo to all the staff

Spacious 2br/​2ba vacation rentals with nice common area. Clean and functional place. Not the most modern décor, but reasonable price and important thing is room is clean and spacious. And the air conditioning works well with three different zones.
No elevator and we were on the 3^rd floor, but the steps are wide and not as steep. Good 1.5ft deep pool for the little ones, and another 3ft pool with a little waterfall.
Conveniently next to Coconut Marketplace… currently being remodeled but still some good shops open like Whalers convenience store, Lappert’s ice cream, and a farmer’s market on certain days.

Superb value for the money. Everything you need is right here or nearby. Spacious one-​bedroom suites with full kitchen, SUPER quiet air conditioning and very comfortable beds. Our suite even had a washer and dryer. The beach is less than a hundred feet away, the location is ideally central and the rooms are very, very quiet. Plus, it features one of the best restaurants on the island. We will definitely return here.

I’ve been a timeshare holder here for over 10 years and love every visit. Perfect location with the locals and quiet resort. One of the best restaurants on the island.

The accommodations were great. The bed was heavenly for both my wife and I. The service was very good. The pool was very nice (especially the waterfall). The reason for 4 and not 5 stars? Three things: 1) we couldn’t find an elevator and were told by other guests there wasn’t one; 2) the push for us to attend the timeshare seminar (I shut that conversation down very quickly); and 3) the wi-​fi (which seemed to get better during our stay, but was never an appropriate speed).

Accommodations are nice. We had a 1 bedroom with full kitchen condo, roomy and everything in the kitchen you would need (no microwave, but no big deal for us). The pool was nice and the pool bar had an awesome drink of the day. We ate one dinner in the restaurant on site and it was good. Locals rave about the restaurant for a fancier dinner out. Walking distance to a few restaurants and close to Safeway for groceries. Love the central location. The only reason this doesn’t get 5 stars is the push for the timeshare. We are already timeshare owners and did a trade for this resort — we don’t need to buy another timeshare or sit through the spiel. Also, the free wifi is a joke! almost impossible to download email or even watch a short video via facebook — had to upgrade for $ 50.00 for the stay. Gorgeous view of the ocean from our condo and even from the bed!!!

My husband made reservations at the Beachboy for our 35^th anniversary and family trip with our daughter. As I begin to look on trip advisor and Unilocal,Many of the reviews were not good. I was very skeptical and already disappointed as we prepared for our Kauai trip. We have been very pleased with the courtesy of the staff, their efficiency. Our one-​bedroom room is comfortable, clean, relaxing, nicely decorated, fully equipped with all we need and it is all right here. We are in the middle of our stay and have a few more days here. The grounds are amazing, barbecue grills are very convenient and have been using them-​we love to grill. The pool might be small by some standards, but is very nice, a hot tub and kiddie pool and a great sandy play area for the kids… Not to mention only steps away from the beach and ocean. If we are able to return to Kauai we will be seeing the Beachboy again. Thank you Beachboy, we are thoroughly enjoying our stay.

We won the first leg of our honeymoon at a wedding expo that I attended, and the location that we chose from the options was here at the Beachboy. I knew through the mandatory Wyndham seminar that it was a timeshare, and even though we won three days stay, there would be some push to purchase a timeshare. That said, the experience was really wonderful, and the push was almost nonexistent.
We arrived at the resort significantly ahead of check in time, but because we were staying in a non-​timeshare room, it was ready to go for us at least three hours early, which was wonderful. The front desk attendant was a little short with us, because we weren’t members, but reluctantly still had maps, parking info, and suggestions at the ready for us.
The location of our room was to the right most side of the resort, and although we had a partly obscured view by palm trees, we still had a gorgeous view of the ocean. To my great delight, there were tiny green lizard/​gecko critters on the outside of our building every day, and I may or may not have successfully caught one and gave it kisses. The room was clean, spacious, and well appointed, except for the tub in the bathroom which needed a little TLC, but was warn but still clean. We had a large balcony on our room which was on the third floor, with lounge chairs and a table, where we enjoyed beautiful sunsets with some celebratory adult beverages.
The grounds were immaculate, with precisely manicured lawns, brushed soft sands, welcoming hammocks, and strategically spaced sunning loungers. The pool area, although rarely in use while we were staying there, was quiet, serene, and lushly tropical. I was a fan that there were very few youngsters staying at this resort when we were there, which added an air of calm and relaxation that was simply perfect for us. Just beyond the premises of the resort was the beach, with softly lapping waves, a little more rugged coastline than others, with a surly reef that discouraged water adventuring. This was the only downside of the resort, although with a beautiful ocean-​side location, it was mostly impossible to enter the water to enjoy due to the rocky crags and unpredictable cross-​current.
Dining was fantastic, see my review for their restaurant Hukilau Lanai, and I was very happy with their staff in general. Room attendants were freely distributing pool towels unlike some other hotels who guard the striped bits of cloth like the hope diamond. If I had the desire to own a timeshare, I would seriously consider this as a contender (but not for its beach access). That said, Kauai is an island, and there’s beaches everywhere! We were given local Kauai Kookies at checkout, which I thought was a very special and thoughtful touch. All in all, a very enjoyable experience for us both, and a fabulous start to our honeymoon.

Our room is an awesome 1 bedroom with a full kitchen and washer/​dryer in our room. It is a large and comfortable room. The furniture is nice and new for a hotel room. We have a view of Gardens and Ocean. The staff is very friendly and nice. Overall, we are very happy with this hotel.

DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE HIGH INTERVAL INTERNATIONAL RATINGS OR ANY POSITIVE RATINGS ONLINE!!! For months prior to our honeymoon, when we told people where we were staying in Kauai, not 1 person had heard of it, even the car rental guy at the airport! It soon became apparent to us why…
This place is decrepit and depressing. The lobby was a ghost town except for 3 employees who are simultaneously the manager, front desk, bellhop and concierge. They seemed way too happy to see us, as if we were the first honeymooners to ever book with them. They made us speak to the «activities director,» who told us that the one restaurant they have is «the best on the island,» until we named the other places we had reservations at during the week (Merriman’s, Gaylords, and others).
The rooms smell of mold and are stuck in the 1960’s. They even have a CD player in them (which granted, is more from the 1990’s)! The shower made you want to put on flip flops, for fear of a fungal infection.
There is no view whatsoever. The pool is tiny and looks nothing like the pictures online. There is no beach. AND THERE WAS NOBODY STAYING THERE.
This place is also very far away from anything that you would want to do in Kauai… And the neighborhood didn’t seem very safe. After arriving we went to the supermarket down the street from the Beach Boy, and it was clear that this was not an area that tourists frequent or would choose to go to for anything at all. From the supermarket we called The Grand Hyatt and were able to book a room for the week of our stay — it was the best decision that we have ever made!
Please heed our warning and learn from our mistake

The Beachboy is a fantastic resort! This was our first time to the islands, and we were so graciously welcomed immediately by the staff at the front desk. They really made us feel special, important and like they had been waiting for us to arrive. I wish I had the names of the staff but it was Tuesday ¹²⁄₂₃ midday when we arrived. We were delighted to learn they have a storage room with a variety of beach toys and things you might need for an outing. You can borrow whatever you want for the day. That was super helpful for us! The handle on our sliding glass door was cracked so when we shut the door one night, the handle broke off entirely! We alerted the front desk, they called maintenance and within hours it was fixed. The fast fix was appreciated. The pool and hot tub area are immaculate, but there should be more pool chairs! I found myself laying on the side of the pool ledge getting some sun because there was no chairs left. We loved the hammocks that were hung in the trees near the beach/​pool. The beach is a short 100 yards from the last rooms and pool area. It was nice to be able to walk down to the ocean at any time!
My only complaint about this resort is that the maintenance crew entered our room even with the «do not disturb!» sign on the door knob. They called us to ask for permission to enter, however we missed the phone call so they left a voicemail. Before we returned the call or returned to our room, they had went in anyway. What was the point of the call asking for permission to enter then?!
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and hope to visit again soon. We will definitely be telling all of our friends and family about the Beachboy!

Beautiful property on the east shore. There gardens and greens around the condos are beautiful, lush, and fragrant. Tons of lounge chairs around the pool and the expansive grassy area make it very convenient to nap within earshot of the crashing waves.
The water is steps below, and the beach is narrow, with rough sand and small tide pools with cute fish. The view from the sand is truly spectacular.
As far as the room goes, it’s clean, full kitchen, cozy bed, but the décor needs updating. The curtains, kitchen, and linens are a bit dated (yellow, red and green flowers), and makes the space dark, and seems more appealing to a mature crowd.
The staff is friendly and accommodating. Always able to fix a concern an make solid recommendations.
All in all, a very nice place to stay!

As a Shell Vacations Club member for the past 22 years, I usually go to the Big Island and stay at the Holua (which I love!).
However, this time, we wanted to go to Kauai and stayed at the Kauai Coast. I waited a bit to write my review because I had some disappointing experiences, but the management at the Kauai Coast as well as SVC made things right and I would not hesitate to stay at this resort again. It was just bad luck and bad timing on our part and not a reflection of the resort as a whole. Beautiful grounds and close to the beach. Lovely!

Aloha! My family and I are checking in today. We are coming from Paniolo Greens. It is a Shell Vacations location in Kona. We have been so impressed with this company. We prefer it over our Marriott timeshare! This is our first trip to Hawaii. We will be back next year! We could not get a two bedroom at the Beach Boy which is what we gave up to come here. But, Danny was very helpful on the phone and said he would get us the best view one bedroom available on the third floor. We can’t wait to get to your resort. Mahalo, Mayaria and Michael Shapiro

We had a Garden view room the first week (you could still see and hear the ocean). The second week we had a beautiful ocean view room. Both rooms were excellent.
Staff here is very professional.
There is a security company who monitors by walking around they are stealth so I didn’t really notice them (which is just as it should be). The pool area is great, recently remodeled, they are remodeling the work out center this week but the 24 hour facilities at the Marriott are made available to us for free, in the meantime.
Definitely one of my favorite places in the world!!!

A great accommodation on the beach. The suite itself is huge and can easily accommodate 4+ guests. The kitchen is nice and so is the access to the patio from both the living room and the bedroom. The bathroom is big and has an on-​suite washer and dryer. The patio opens out to a beautiful lawn and is great for small children to play. The ocean view seats and hammocks are a plus. The pool is definitely the star of the property. It is a salt water pool with very little impact to the eyes and doesn’t smell of chlorine. Very kid friendly and can be in the pool for ever. The waterfall also adds another nice feature to the pool. The spa pool is right on the ocean and has great views. The on-​resort hotel is only ok, but the island has some great dining options all around. Very ideal for a week+ long stay.

This place was great — located right on the beachfront with gorgeous views, and a big terrace area with a pool, hot tub and bar. They were casual about letting you bring your own drinks to the pool as long as they weren’t in glass containers, so we took advantage of that a lot! The rooms themselves were large and clean with kitchens and cookware provided. Just really really nice.
Oh! This is also located along a path that winds along the coast. It was nice taking walks there in the morning. And just on the other side of the resort is the Coconut Marketplace that has some restaurants and shops, so the location was very perfect.
Not sure what else to say — not really much to comment on as everything was pretty perfect!

Located right in Kapaa, on the back of Coconut Market place. This is one of my favorite place to stay whenever I’m on Kauai. It’s a beautiful resort that’s clean, peaceful and full of friendly and helpful staff. Everything comes fully equipped in the 1 or 2 bedroom condos. Only thing is there are no elevators but what’s 3 floors of stairs? It’s always good to have a good workout when vacationing. They also have a huge tennis court and a small fitness room right by the Ali’i tower, but it does get busy before 9am.
The pool has a cute waterfall at the end and another pool next to the main pool for the kids. The jacuzzi is perfectly hot and really deep to full get in there, the view from the jacuzzi and pool overlooks the ocean so perfect when taking a sip of wine while watching the sunset. The bar is located right by the pool and grill for all you alcohol thirst quenchers. And another great thing is there is a cute sand box right by the jacuzzi.
They have an awesome fine dining restaurant right across from the front desk called «Hukilau Lanai» with someone signing on certain nights and a bar right next to it. Parking is free when staying here and free WIFI as well. Fairly reasonable priced rooms especially for Kamaina. The spa and massage that they have located also right next to the front desk is also very professional, intimate and great for getting those tight knots out… the girls there are great!
