I don’t know what’s with this but every single time I’ve called for an appointment (in the past 1 – 2 years) he never answers and never returns phone call. I don’t know how all these people are getting their hair cuts.

My experience was not good here. I did not want to know about his going out the night before nor did I want my hair thrown in my face (and everywhere else) when I was having my hair blown out. I also did not like that he was the only person that worked the salon. Get a desk person to take the money and answer the phone. The owner should not be doing everything. Just an overall unprofessional feel. I wont be returning.

My mom went to Duke to get her hair cut and dyed. She loved it! She got a stacked bob & a base color with highlights. He did a great job for a great price!

I love my new haircut… I was really anxious before because I’ve never have had my hair so short… But duke was really good and helped me decide with the long bob…

After years of trying to find someone local who can really cut my hair, here he is.
So glad I finally have someone who listens to me and what I’d like, but also isn’t afraid to give good, honest advice as to why something I asked for may not work or be the ideal approach.
I’m a repeat happy customer, and there to stay as long as he does.
I’m an easy, realistic client and have never, ever been that jerk in the salon complaining that something isn’t quite right, and fix it – again. So, it’s always been a bummer to go in for a straightforward cut and explain to other hairdressers that I have really fine hair – but tons of it – and a stubborn cowlick – and that in 50 years on this planet (yeah, I said it!) I now have a pretty damned good idea what will work – or not – for me and my hair.
(Example: I went twice to the latest, greatest and, I have to add, stupid-​expensive salon and got one cut from the owner that was a total «the emperor has no clothes”-type letdown – plus there was a sustained and squirm-​inducing push to buy products. It was the last straw. I cannot stand having add-​on merchandise pressure when I’m already paying loads for other services. I kept quiet but voted with my feet and walked out of there – permanently. $ 175 – 300 for a cut and single color? Insane.)
I went searching and found Duke here on Unilocal,and a big thanks to those of you who also liked him enough to share that info – I almost hate to myself, because he’s a hidden gem, but I want him to do well, too, so here I am. You’re welcome, Katy.
Duke: simply put, he’s a one-​man artist in a small space. Don’t bother if you’re high-​maintenance and need a dramatic atmosphere. If, however, you want an honest approach and a really good cut and/​or color, look no further. Duke is lovely, fun, very talented with hair, personable, unstuffy and guess what – he doesn’t push products or services. And his prices are more than reasonable.

I’ve been going to Duke for a year and a half now and not only is he amazing as a stylist but a great person to talk to.
He will cut your hair not to his liking, but yours. He’s very personalized in his approach to cutting hair, and is adaptable to many different hair types (thin/​thick follicles, growth patterns, and follicle amount).
I’ve recommended people to Duke and they love him as well.
I can’t see anyone else cutting my hair.

I love Duke!
My son and I both have really thick hair which we had let grow out for several years. When we decided to donate hair to Locks for Love we went to another salon that does a lot of work with the charity. Unfortunately, the girl who cut our hair butchered it. We both left with horrible cuts that were impossible to style.
I found Duke on Unilocal and made an appointment. He fixed what the other stylist had messed up. I will not let anyone else in the Katy area touch my hair from now on.
BTW — he is a one man show, so if you call and get voicemail, leave a message, he will call you back. It might be a little inconvenient when you are calling but you will appreciate it when you are in the chair and he is 100% focused on you, instead of the phone!

Duke incredibly kind when I got severely lost, FYI look for strip center behind CVS. He listens, a novel idea to most salons but five stars in my picky book. Uses Wella products, have referred him two prospects. Will return.

Duke gives an amazing cut! His work is meticulous and the final product is superb. I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting a quality cut.

Awesome hair cut! I listen to the reviews here and said what the heck let’s give him a try and I am so glad I did. Being I just moved to Katy 3 weeks ago from out of state my hair was needing help. Duke made me feel human again. I have a lot of hair and it is hard to get all the layers right, he did it just amazing. I will be back!!! Thanks Duke!

Duke is literally the best hair stylist! He gets it right every time and exactly how you want it. He cuts your hair to perfection and it won’t look like it was a cheap haircut. It’s a bit hard to find because it’s tucked behind the CVS.

Duke is Amazing! I was going to another salon for over 15 years and my cousin brought me Light! I mean That by bringing me to Duke for a Cut and Color :) He listens to what you want and explains how to Make It Happen. I will never go anywhere else I am Now Hooked and a Lifetime Customer! Great place. The owner has an awesome knack for understanding what you want and getting you the results that you are looking for. I got color and cut and it is amazing. I love it and will definitely be back.

Duke practically saved my life! I made the mistake of dyeing my hair black at home the week before and absolutely hated looking in the mirror afterward. Duke spent 3 hours bleaching it and dyeing it back to my usual reddish dark brown hue. He was very patient and educational on how to take care of my hair to prevent it from drying out. It has been 5 weeks now since he dyed my hair, and the color is still very good (especially since red fades so quickly). I’m definitely coming back here for my hair coloring needs when in Katy.

Duke is very… Polite, knowledgeable, and very professional. I saw all the stars on here and decided to give him a try, let me just say he took his time and explained what could be done with my hair. I went in for blonde highlights I wanted to go entirely light, because I was tired of my black hair, I kept it black for a few years now and needed a change, he explained to me that he would try to get it as light as possible but since I had the black dye it was going to be hard to get it as light as I wanted it without ruining my hair, so we got it as light as possible, but will definitely be returning in a couple months to get the desired look I was going for at the beginning, he assured me that the second round will look exactly how I want it, it still looks cute, I just prefer it lighter, I’m just glad he cared enough to not fry my hair like other places will just for a quick buck.

I live in College Station but I don’t get my hair cut anywhere else but with Duke. That’s how good his hair cuts are.

Duke is absolutely amazing. I went to him to have a Brazilian Blowout treatment and my hair looks and feels fabulous. He took his time with me and gave me his undivided attention, and it really shows in the results. I have had this treatment before but it did not turn out anywhere near this smooth, shiny, manageable, and silky. I would recommend that anyone see Duke because I saw him performing color and haircuts and they all looked great– his clients were obviously thrilled with their hair as well.

I went into Duke with a color disaster! Duke is the best colorist I have ever had (30 years or more) and I would not let anyone else touch my hair.
I took my (then) 3 year old grandson to Duke for a haircut and Duke was patient and gave my grandson the best haircut he had ever had!

I have finally found a hair stylist that works for me. I usually go to a hair stylist all the way in Houston just because I have been going there since I was little but I needed to find a much closer hair stylist.
It was confusing at first upon where this shop was since their was no signs but I eventually found it. I had set an appointment and he was polite enough to let me come in in closing time (major plus since their isn’t much shop that will do that). I was immediately greeted and asked If I wanted any water. It came my time to get my haircut and we worked on what kind of hair cut I wanted. We came to the conclusion and the cut was underway. I would come close to say he is a perfectionist. He helped out on different ways I could style my new haircut and answered any questions I had without and sense of rush since I was his last customer.
Extremely nice. I will definitely recommend for any guys and girls out there in the Katy area.
