G & L Alterations

I was pleasantly surprised how nice the people are here!
I found them here on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. I live in the alief area so it was about a 25 minutes drive to get here. I was that desperate.
I paid on the same day I dropped off my chef pants that were extremely too large for me to get a 10% off.
After the waiting for several days for my pick up, I was excited to see how it was gonna turn out.
I was nervous it was still going to be too wide, but no it was pretty good! It fit well. The sewing was great! You can’t tell I had to get it altered.

I have been a custom gown designer and fashion stylist for over 20 years! Whenever I need anything altered G & L is the only place I would go to! My clients fly in from all over the country to work with these ladies and there is none better! Their work has graced both the Miss USA, Miss Universe and Miss America stages as well as dozens of local and state pageant stages!
If you want your clothes altered to fit perfectly this is the place you want to go!

I have had my daughters pants altered here and they are great. Truly impressed with their customer service and their quality of work. They are reasonably priced as well!

Maggie & her team are sewing angels sent from above! I just picked up three engagement photo shoot gowns from her, and they turned out even better than expected! She heard exactly what I wanted and made it happen. If you’re looking for the cheapest in town, go elsewhere. These ladies are the best and deserve their rates. I’ll be back again. No doubts.

Get all my alterations done here for over 5 years! Maggie and her sisters are the sweetest!

I have taken all of my alterations here for about a year and they do a fabulous job! I’ve had bridesmaid dresses hemmed/​altered, jeans & shorts hemmed/​waist taken in, & so much more. They are very reasonably priced, fast, & have great customer service. The quality of their work is excellent. If you have any issues with the fit after an alteration they are happy to take it back and fix it so you’re satisfied. I will continue to bring all my alterations here!

Took several designer jeans here and they did a solid job.

They are affordable and did a great job. I recommend this place to my friends, and will definitely go back. So far I have had 2 pairs of jeans, and a suit tailored. I am happy with the work they do.

My «lovely» dog decided to tear apart the bottom of my brand new jacket and ripped out the zipper. I only got to wear it, like, 5 times. So, lucky for her I forgave her and looked around for a place to fix it. I found G & L Alterations online and after reviewing several great reviews I decided to use them. I am so glad I did. The woman who helped me was incredibly nice. It took exactly one week to fix it but it was because she was backed up on altering prom dresses, which was fine since it’s about 110 degrees here in Texas and I didn’t need my jacket right away.
So, I picked up my jacket today and not only did she repair the zipper, but she also patched up the missing piece on the bottom without me asking her to. She didn’t even charge me extra for it! Now my jacket looks brand new again. :-)
I highly recommend this place. The repair work was perfect, the service was excellent and the prices are very reasonable. I paid around $ 19 for the repair but got a discount because if you pay when you drop it off, she gives you 10% off. If I didn’t pay ahead then it would’ve been around $ 21. It’s a couple bucks off but, hey, we’re in a recession and $ 2 can get you some fast food.

If I ever have to get my jeans (only own Levi’s) hemmed, I take them to G & L Alterations in Katy. I have taken my other pants like khakis and slacks there also.
This place has been my alterations place for approximately 10 years. The place hasn’t changed. It sill looks the same as when I started going to this place.
What makes this place good? One thing is price. I got two pairs of jeans hemmed for about $ 20. I paid on the day of dropoff so you get a discount. I specifically gave them instructions to make the stitch on the hem thicker by going twice. I also told them to use a dark blue thread on one and an orange thread on the other jean. My jeans came out exactly like I wanted.
Another thing that makes this place good is they are on time. I’ve never really needed something done in a day or two, but it usually is about one week till they are finished. I think they say one week to be on the safe side. I usually just stop by about 5 days after dropoff and they are done.
A third thing that makes this place good is assurance. For jeans, they always ask if you have washed them already. This is for shrinkage reasons. Also, when I pick them up, she tells me to come back if I have any problems. I haven’t had any so far.
One thing I wished they do is reweaving. I need to get a suit jacket reweaved and they don’t do that service.
Oh well, at least they take care of my Levi’s.
