409 Bar & Grill

My friends and I went to 409 on Cinco De Mayo and the entire experience was absolutely horrible. Our waiter was completely incompetent and couldn’t remember to bring my two friends a simple pitcher of water. After about a half hour we finally reminded him and all he did was look at us like we were asking for him to do cartwheels. They advertised $ 1 tacos so we ordered 8 tacos and one chicken quesadilla. It took almost an hour to bring the food and it was absolutely terrible. The chicken quesadilla was so dry my friend could barely eat it and the tacos were terrible as well. One of my friends who is vegetarian asked if they could make a a quesadilla with papers and onions in it. The waiter replied «let me see if we have that». When he came back he said that the cook said they don’t have peppers or onions. What kind of restaurant doesn’t have an onion or pepper stocked in the kitchen? In addition to the terrible service and food the drinks were also awful. That was my first and last time at 409.

Great Place, Beautiful Hoboken type of atmosphere inside and a good mixed clientele. Plenty of types of beer on tap and the food is great! Went recently for Brazilian Karaōke on a Thursday night and everyone sings and there’s quite a camaraderie throughout among the singers, they have american songs as well and the DJ did a great opera!
Kearny in general is a great town, and has plenty of great little restaurants, we can welcome some more places like this.

Food is OK — nothing special but good for happy hour. The live music is a great idea but needs to be turned down just a notch so you don’t have to scream in order to have a conversation at 7 pm.

I came here with a bunch of friends who were local on a Friday night. We walked in and were immediately treated poorly. The owner/​bartender gave us an attitude all night long even after she carded my friend and I who are years over 21 with valid licenses and made the entire experience uncomfortable and unenjoyable. I would not go back.

I love this place been here a couple of times and the people are great. Great atmosphere. Great service.

I finally tried this bar with two of my girlfriends. We were disappointed. We ordered fried calamari, and it’s was awful. Very overcooked and just bad… We also got an order of mushy sweet potato fries… The drinks were very weak and full of ice… It’s sad, because it’s a cute place with potential… Reason why I’m giving two stars is for waiter and appearance of the place

Finally a great bar in Kearny that has a Great beer tap selection and Great food. Service was totally awesome, very knowledgable about craft beers. I did not have a full sized burger but had the sliders. My friend and I ordered Tapas style, we got a 409 Burger and Blue Cheese burger… I will have to flip a coin next time because these burgers were cooked to perfection and I will be thinking of it until I get back there for another. TIP: Fried avocado is NOT to be missed, just walk in and order a beer, and some fried avocado… cant go wrong… so glad to have this place in Kearny!

Great apps. Friendly staff. Very comfortable place to enjoy a night out or to watch Sunday football.

The best thing that has happened to Kearny — The people are friendly, the music is bumping, the décor is gorgeous, the food is delicious, and they have awesome specials everyday. Candace and Jeff are my faves. Come here for a really good time! I see these negative reviews on here and I’m confused. Seems like a bunch of butt hurt people. Womp.

Food is good, service could be better. I came up from PA to partake in their advertised Halloween event. They stated prizes and cash prizes for category best dress, scariest, sexiest, best dance, best couple, best group… But none of that happen. Very disappointed. Will not return.

Extremely disappointed. They falsely advertise to get clientele. Promised cash prizes for best Halloween costume and handed none out what so ever. When «Owner» was questioned she lied stating three people won then ran through a door to hide before she was questioned again. Food is good and service is average.

Great food. The wedge salad with steak added as an extra was phenomenal. Chicken bites and steak bruschetta were also very good. Good atmosphere and staff was friendly

This is the cutest little bar in Kearny, NJ for food & drinks! The staff is amazing & so attentive! The food is delicious! everything on the menu is delicious but The scallops & the chicken Caesar salad are my favorite! Love the ambience, nice place for a date night or just a couple of drinks after work at the bar! Love this place, definitely recommend it to people looking for good bars plus food!
