Keene Police charged Tousley, who is running for the Ward 2 seat on the Keene City Council, with animal cruelty.
In a phone interview, Tousley told FOX25 that Teddy and the LaPlante’s other dog were «menacing» him in the yard.
«The dogs were startling me, and I just wanted the dogs off my property,» Tousley said. «It’s not like the dog got flung like a football, you know? I was just shooing the dog off my property.»
Tousley said he didn’t believe the animal cruelty charge would affect his campaign, but stopped short of saying he was sorry for Teddy’s death.
