Used to love going to Chicken E. But recently I have been very annoyed with the quality of the product. Tonight the chicken tasted like it had been sitting out since lunch and worst of all they didnt even get my order right! I order the #1 like always with mashed potatoes… what did I get? Tenders and 2. TWOSIDESOFGRAVY. I didnt even get my potatoes! So I spent $ 7 for 4 tenders and a bowl of gravy… oh and i guess a Roll. This is pretty much the last straw seeing as there are multiple chicken places on 1709, didnt even bother driving back up there as its a 10 min round-trip. Thanks Chicken E. :(

We have lived and Keller and been going to this chicken express for 15 years. In the last few months the service has gine frim mediocre to downright terrible. We went through the drive-thru 2 weeks ago for a sweet tea and were in line for over 12 minutes, just for our tea. Tonight, thinking maybe the wait, was just a one time thing, we ran by thete to get a kid’s meal. We waited a total of 17 minutes. The kid at the window told us how horrible the rest of the employees were and how the management“sucked”. Sad to say, after 15 years, this will be our last time there, until new management is in place.

Dirty restaurant, terrible food quality, and a staff that not only doesn’t care about service – they openly break Food Safety regulations right in front of customers. I witnessed the«manager» drop a dinner roll on the ground and pick it up and put in bag they were preparing for drive up. No one wears hair protection or gloves!!! I watched an employee walk directly from the bathroom, right back to the prep line and handle food without gloves! Come on City of Keller, Health Inspector where are you? We deserve a restaurant and a City Government that cares more about it’s citizens than to let this business continue to operate like this.

Visit this restaurant occasionally because I love their fried pickles and corn nuggets but a recent trip here has made me think twice about returning. Stopped by after working 12 hours to pick up dinner on my way home and had to wait 10 minutes at the menu before I ended up driving up to the window before any of the inattentive, young staff would realize they had customers. They were more concerned with socializing with coworkers then realizing they had a line of cars waiting to order. I almost drove away. I stopped here to get FAST food which obviously didn’t happen, I think I ended up waiting 20 minutes before I got to order and got my food!

Gross greasy food. This was the 1st Chicken Express location I have ever eaten at and most likely the last.

I should have written this long ago, when this restaurant *might* have gotten three, maybe four stars. It has steadily declined to the point where today was probably my last visit and 2 stars feels like a charitable severance. As others have noted the customer service is basically non-existent or even antagonistic. Everyone that works there is consistently about 13 years old, except for the«manager.» On today’s visit, we chuckled about the drive thru still being broken, and the child labor running out to meet us. The young feigned interest in his job for a split second and then went into Beavis mode. He tried to memorize the order I guess. As we pulled up, we thought well at least the food is pretty good. When we got it and and did the quick check, it was close enough to correct that we left. Wife opens the soda and… it’s brown water. It’s obviously brown water. I’m sure the children there have had soda before, if not even served it there. So they clearly saw that it was not soda. I decided to go inside and let the manager know, not so much about the soda but about the restaurants decline in general. You know, like a favor. The manager was not interested, walked away in the middle of my sentence. Oh well I tried. Can’t wait until this place closes. Maybe we’ll get a Chipotle or something.

Good food but horrible customer service. This location has the worst customer service of any Chicken Express that we’ve been to. Our last trip there was no different as three cars left the drive thru. My wife and I stayed in line and eventually paid for our order, but we had a coupon and also wanted to add a sweet tea, and the young girl waiting on us through a fit and complained that she would have to cancel the order and ring it up again. The manager got involved and we eventually paid and went home. We called the manager to advise him that his location has bad customer service and also told him about our experience, but he chalked it up to ‘young kids’ and then told us to come back in for a 25% discount on our next order. We told him we didn’t want anything from him and that we only wanted to let him know our feedback.

Cheap and good. I’ve driven by these places and always been curious about them. This one is located next door to a Popeye’s Chicken, and down the street from Cane’s chicken. So, there’s competition here for chicken. Firstly, their sign out front reads«Chicken Express — try our Catfish!». This seems odd that a place specifically called Express CHICKEN is advertising their catfish. Well, putting that aside I went in for lunch. I got the number 1 combo which was 4 fried chicken strips, a side(I chose cheese sticks because I’m a sucker for them) and a roll or biscuit. And a drink. It came to like 6 bucks which was surprising and cheap. AND the chicken strips are HUGE. After TWO I was full. But because I was in a mood I ate all 4! They’re BIG — and they’re REAL — not that faux-chicken stuff that McDs and Wendy’s uses in their cheap patties — this is the real deal. Lightly breaded and fried — not bad. Not too heavy on the breading — lotta meat. They give you a thing of white gravy which was watery but good for dipping. It was all good. The cheese sticks — all two of them — were also fine. The biscuit is also really good. For the money, you get a lot of food. I was stuffed afterwards. And I love chicken so — chances are I’ll be back — if you can pull me away from Popeye’s that is, their spicy chicken just gets me every time!!!

Very disappointing. Stood at the counter for five full minutes before someone took my order. The food was mediocre. I will not return.

I have lived in Keller for years I love this town BUT I have ALWAYS boycotted this Chicken Express for so many reasons. I am a true southerner. From family to Georgia to Louisiana on to Texas, fried food flows through my veins(heart attack included). The chicken tastes as if it’s sat under a heat lamp for two days. As for the service? It’s appalling. I’ve seen better service at the Krogers down the road, and that’s saying something. For those who don’t know, this Chicken Express ACTUALLY ust to have a speaker box outside. Management is so un-responsible they haven’t decided it’s a necessity. Instead they replaced it with people running out to the cars to take your order. Which would be fine if half the time the staff didn’t seem to have their head up their ass. They even tried taking my order by memory. I live really close to this place and surprisingly I still see people there. Which makes me think that the people who enjoy this food have NO taste. People of Keller if you actually want to have a good chicken place PLEAZE boycott this place maybe the staff will notice something is wrong and change.

I’ve lived in Texas for about 8 years, but it was only until this year that I got to try Chicken Express. A couple of my friends dragged me here, saying it was a staple during their high school years. I was very unsure at first, but after that first bite… My God. This place is the bomb. The décor inside is, well… disgusting. Laminated counters, odd colored tiles, and everything seems to be covered in a yellow/brown tint… That being said, the workers here are extremely nice, even if they sometimes seem a bit apathetic. The food here is beyond words. The chicken is so flavorful and juicy, I was almost speechless. Toss on some Serendipity seasoning and dip it in some gravy and it is honestly one of the most satisfying meals you will ever have. LOVE.

Staffed by a bunch of young people more interested in yakking it up with each other than helping customers. I had to repeat my order at least three times which was not confidence building as far as them getting it right. Had fried chicken and chicken fingers. They were OK but not as good as their Grapevine location. I was treated like they couldn’t care less if I was there or not so I doubt I will go back. Too many other choices.

Best fried chicken made from fresh quality meats. Delicious sides, interior décor matches that of a yellow toaster, but with food this great who cares. Chik fil a has a regional competitor on it’s hands.

I am convinced Chicken Express could be much better if it was staffed by more than just teenagers.

I used to go to the ones in Waco all the times. The chicken fingers are always crispy, the corn nuggets are awesome, and the sweet tea is the best!

I’ve only been to a Chicken Express once and it was about 7 years ago. I remember it being very average. When my husband suggested Chicken Express before our movie last weekend, I was less than enthused until I saw that they now offered catfish. I can’t pass up a good fried catfish. My husband ordered one of their meals with chicken tenders/strips/whatever they call them –I tried a bite, it was quite good-a biscuit, and mashed potatoes. I got the catfish meal(obviously) with cole slaw and corn nuggets. It also came with hush puppies. It was DELICIOUS. Everything was perfect. The tartar sauce they provide was just tangy enough and complemented the fish perfectly, the fish was wonderful and didn’t fall apart when you took a bit, and the hush puppies, corn nuggets and cole slaw were just great. The atmosphere’s so-so, with«wood grain» laminate counters and shiny glazed tile everywhere, and you might have to chase your napkin down thanks to the ceiling fans, but the food is just super(ignore the boredom of the teenagers working the counter). There is a sign that says refills of drinks are 25 cents but we weren’t charged. I would totally go here again. In fact, I want some catfish right now.
