Driver’s Edge – Keller

Being new to the area I was hoping to find an honest car repair shop when I starting hearing a grinding noise coming from my 2001 Honda Accord. Well I found out Driver’s Edge of Keller is not it. I arrived at Driver’s Edge and met Andy at the front counter. I explained to him that the blue book value on my car was not very high so I didn’t want to put a lot of money into it, however the noise coming from the engine worried me. I also informed him that my front Motor Mount was broken and that I already had a brand new part. Andy told me that he could not use my part and that the broken motor mount could also be causing the the noise. Andy said he would have one of his Tech. s look at it. During the inspection I was asked by the Tech if the noise got worse or better when the A/​C was running. I told the Tech that I wasn’t sure because I hardly used the A/​C and when I did the doors and windows were closed so it’s hard to hear. A few minutes later Andy called me to the counter and said that the Tech reported to him that the noise was coming from the main pulley which had some wobble in it and it needed to be replaced. The Total repair would be around $ 600.00. I explained to him that the pulley has always had a very slight wobble in it and that I didn’t think this was the cause of the grinding noise. He told me that it was and that it needed to be replaced. The A/​C compressor was never talked about again. I understood why they could not use my parts and I agreed to the repairs. I left the car over night and never received a call from their shop telling me of any other needed repairs. The following morning, still never receiving a follow up call, I contacted them. I was told the car was fixed and I could pick it up. I arrived at the shop and Andy told me the car was fixed. After paying I was given my keys and when I started the engine the noise was still as loud as when I brought it in. Andy told me that the A/​C compressor was making the noise and that the system would need to be placed at the cost of $ 1400.00. I told him that if they knew the noise was from the A/​C compressor why didn’t they tell me that from the beginning because I might have put the money towards that repair. He told me that the pulley was some of the noise and that it was hard to tell where the main noise was coming from. The pulley was at a cost of $ 199.98 and the motor mount which I had purchased on the internet for $ 20.00 was at their cost of $ 69.99 total repair before taxes $ 577.44 This shop is a total rip off I would not recommend this shop to anyone. I truly believe that they knew the noise was coming from the A/​C compressor but since I already told them I did not want to invest
a lot of money in the car they elected to sell me on other repairs.

I wish there was a way I could give negative stars because this place is an absolute joke.
Prices are ridiculously high and charge for a inspection fail??? Never heard of a place doing that before. Your better of throwing your money in the garbage than going to this place. I should have known better too the place was empty should have gave me a clue as to why. I wish I could go back in time and never had made the turn into this place rather just watched it go by on my way to valvoline instant oil change (which is down the street) for my inspection.

My wife took in her ’07 Ford Escape which has never had any maintenance beyond brakes, tires, and oil changes. We braced ourselves for a tremendous bill. Even after my prior great experience with my car, the overall price tag was on the higher end of
estimates and that gave me pause.
Thankfully, the hesitation was unfounded. The quote (and final price), while still on the higher end of RepairPal, was reasonable. It’s much easier to swallow because Driver’s Edge is open on the weekend, every car repair we’ve had has been completed same day, and the guarantee on their work. Andy again was great.
We thought long and hard about going to another shop that promises to do high-​quality work for a far lower cost. Driver’s Edge has done right by us this far, though, and keeping our older cars on the road is far less expensive than new car payments.

I trust the advice I get from the guys here. They have always been honest with me and provided quality service.

!!!GO TO BILLS HALF PRICED AUTO INSTEAD!!! Called for an estimate on a rotor replacement and brake job. Andy wouldn’t even give me an estimate over the phone. When I explained to him that I didn’t want to drive to his place on bad brakes just to have a «technician» look at it only to find out I was going to be paying an arm and a leg there, I know my vehicle and I need a rotor replacement and a break job, he still didn’t give me an estimate. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I called Bills Half Price Auto repair and the guy gave me an exact quote for why I was looking for! And it was on $ 280 GO TO BILLS HALF PRICES AUTO!

Andy and staff are great. I took my daughter’s care in for an inspection after buying her first vehicle. They went bumper to bumper, fixed somethings and priced the repairs very reasonably…(did some work for free)

The guy running the counter (who I presume is the manager or owner) is a complete jerk! He talked to me like I was an idiot and was extremely condescending. Just because I am a woman in a car repair place? My dad builds race cars so I was raised around mechanics and not all of them treat women like they are stupid! Wanted an oil change, had a 24.95 coupon. Was told it would be $ 55. I told him no thank you the dealership only charges $ 30. To which he responded «well then it’s not synthetic oil». After being talked to like a child I left. He said something ugly when I walked out the door. If this is how this place does business I wish they would leave Keller! I will NEVER EVER go back to this place again!

This team was fantastic! My vehicle broke down on 35 N prior to this store opening at 7 am. I called this store and Andy answered at 6:45 and promptly sent a wrecker to my location. Surprisingly to me, my vehicle was checked quickly and an estimate given to me by 9:30 and by the way, I was ready to hit the road with a completely repaired truck early in the afternoon!

Awesome service. Nice waiting area. Very affordable. They let me know possible repairs for the future. I also had a great coupon through the mail.
They charge inspection fee even if it fails, but you have 15 days to fix the issue so you don’t have to pay for it to pass.
I will be using this place again.

they don’t fix the things that do not need to be fixed. my toyota 4runner was reviewed and checked out by the team and i was impressed with their service and explanation as to why they did and did not do.
i recommend these guys!

A very good and honest shop is hard to come by. I’ve been here a couple times and have always felt they do good work at a good price, no extra padding the bills to generate more money. I will definitely be back.

Their prices are on the very high end of the scale. I have not had a problem with the work they do, but the pricing is 50−100% higher than what you will get at most reputable places. I stopped going there for that reason.
