Advanced European Service

Today was my first time at Advanced European Service and it was definitely an experience to say the least. I drive a 2005 Volvo S60R that I had just bought used 4 months ago. Since I have no service records of this car besides the sticker on the upper left corner of the windshield where mechanics usually indicate when it was last brought in for servicing I consulted Unilocal to find a good mechanic. This place doesn’t have that many reviews yet but I’m willing to bet that they will soon.
I made my appointment and told them what I wanted checked a week in advance and I brought my car in at exactly the time I was told to bring it over at 8am. The staff was friendly enough and seemed like good guys. At about 10am they gave me a call to say that they changed my oil so that was good but my battery was really weak and needed to be changed. Since it still holds a charge and it starts in one crank and of course the whole money issue was a thing I opted not to change the battery just yet. I picked up my car drove home and everything was fine until about 3pm when I was supposed to be driving to Bellevue. Out of nowhere my car just died while I was driving and it wouldn’t start again. Thankfully I wasn’t far from the shop. So I called Advanced European and they sent one of their mechanics over to check and see if it was a problem they could fix on the spot unfortunately it wasn’t because the mechanic had determined that it was an issue with my turbo. You could imagine that at this point I was sweating bullets cuz I know how expensive those kind of issues can be. So I was towed back into the shop and they fixed up my car in under an hour. Apparently a clamp on my intake came loose most likely because of shoddy work done by a previous person who did modifications on the car. They didn’t charge me to get it fixed and they even paid for the $ 80 bill to tow my car back to the shop. This really showed me that these guys aren’t just out to take your money and really do care about their customers and are willing to go the extra mile. They definitely saved the day for me today and I’m really thankful to the staff at Advanced European for everything they did.

I had a battery issue on my Audi and I took them in two different instances. The second time figuring out that my recently purchased battery had a bad cell, I got to the bottom of an extremely annoying problem. They didn’t charge me a dime. That to me shows they are knowledgable, have good integrity, and want to keep a good reputation. I would take my car here again for repairs in the future for sure because I know they are fair.

These guys have been here for a while, steadily cranking out solid work. They do seem to specialize in more high-​end German cars, but they cover all European makes and there often seem to be Japanese and American cars parked out front for work. They’re on a busy interaction, and I’ve passed their parking lots hundreds of times, so the patterns of who’s parked here start to emerge as the years go by.
I brought my (Japanese) truck in for some light work yesterday, and couldn’t be happier with how these guys handled it. They were able to pick up the job right when I brought it in, which was definitely a lucky break. Their service rates are really reasonable and they fixed the problem in no time.
What struck me about the way these guys operate is the extra care they put into customer service. It’s not quite like going to a high-​end dealer, where they’ll have an assistant go get you ice cream or something if you want. But, then, dealers charge twice as much (if not more) for parts and labor. These guys charge real-​world prices. They’ve set up a comfortable waiting room with the usual chairs, magazines, and free cans of pop and bottles of water. If they have the time, they can occasionally drop you somewhere close by so you can wait in greater comfort. But more importantly, they bank on years of experience to troubleshoot your problems and ballpark your cost.
The work I had done was pretty brief, so I spent most of my waiting time there in their lobby. Customers asked all kinds of questions in person and over the phone, and the owner fielded all the questions cheerfully and offered detailed explanations that made sense to people who don’t think about cars all day. It was fun hearing him work the phones, letting people know what to expect in terms of how long the work would take and how much it would cost. That’s pretty rare – many garage owners are pretty stressed because their customers are so stressed; this place must make it a lot easier for people to deal with car problems. They’re honest about the work they do, and they treat their customers like fellow members of the community. This is really nice to see.

Tony and his crew are simply top notch. Honest and trustworthy, this shop is a gem in the Woodinville/​Lake City part of town. I took my Audi and BMW here and always were satisfied with their service and quality. Their parts and labor cost is lower than most independent shops north of Seattle. Which is saying a lot especially when considering the quality of their work and warranty coverage.

I will start this review by stating that I HATE car repair shops, and always feel extremely uncomfortable. Thus, I am pleased to state that I will always go to Advanced European Service from hereon out. The owner is extremely trustworthy and straightforward, and leaves me with the feeling that my best interests are always in mind. I’ve left cheap auto places and oil change shops feeling cheated and taken advantage of, which is exactly the opposite of any experience I’ve ever had here. The employees are friendly and helpful, the service is fantastic. I appreciate the honesty and partnership I receive whenever I’ve had my car serviced here. HIGHLY recommended!

Just had my Porsche serviced at Advanced. I’ve been very happy with the quality of the work, and the pricing is very fair. My car was done on time, and Tonys estimate was right on. Good people!!!

I have taken my vehicle to Advanced European Service two times. Both of my experiences working with them have been great. Tony provided excellent customer service and the shop did a great job.
My 2000 Audi A4 was seen at this shop for a coolant leak and on another occasion for the engine misfiring. Tony and his crew there took care of these problems quickly and took the time to explain the repair and costs associated with it. I recommend them to anyone looking for a good mechanic!

This review is long overdue, but Tony and his gang took amazing care of my ’98 Audi A4 Wagon for the 4.5 years that I was living in Seattle. I highly recommend Advanced European to anyone who wants top-​notch work done and great customer service.
I appreciated every aspect of their service, from the reminder cards in the mail for regular oil changes, to the complimentary rides up the Juanita Hill to drop me off when they had my car, to the friendliness in the waiting room, and most importantly their trustworthiness. When I moved to the Seattle area I knew I needed a good mechanic as my car was somewhat «high needs.» Advanced European did all of the oil changes/​regular services as well as the bigger work that aging Audis require. They knew I loved my car and I took great care of it, yet respected my limited grad student budget. Tony was incredibly honest and practical about what work was required and what could be put off a bit. He was also willing to talk through the problems and fixes with another member of my family on the phone, when I was not sure what to do! I was never pressured to get any maintenance done and Tony and the other guys were always willing to spend lots of extra time explaining all the details of the problem to me. I like to understand what is going on and they were very patient with me.
I enjoyed all of my interactions with the shop and actually miss them when moved back to the east coast last fall. Thanks Tony for taking care of my car and treating me so well!

We’ve taken our 2002 BMW to Tony for years and continue to be impressed with the quality of service his team provides. They always go above and beyond what is necessary and stand fully behind their work. Hands down, the best experiences we’ve ever had with a mechanic shop. We’ve since moved out of Kenmore, but we continue to and always will make the drive up there for our auto service — it’s more than worth it!

I used to have an Audi that liked to fall apart every few months, so I took it here. Chip, the owner, is a really good guy and was able to cut prices on some repairs by getting good used parts. He was straightforward and told me exactly what was going on with my car, kept in touch to let me know how repairs were coming along, and let me know if there were things that were going to conk out soon. and he offers some really good deals every month if you get on his mailing list. Like a free 50-​pt inspection with an oil change, 10% of new brakes, etc… He also ended up buying the Audi when it finally breathed its last, which kept it from getting impounded (again). And he usually has cars for sale too, that he’s repaired – he’ll guarantee the work. So I definitely recommend taking your car there if you’ve got an Audi, VW, volvo, etc…
