MaineStage Shakespeare is a new nonprofit theater company presenting its première season in the summer of 2011. We are comprised primarily of New York-​based theater artists striving to create an influential resident Shakespeare company. We believe in the viability of the resident theater company, a sadly somewhat bygone tradition in which actors can develop their craft in a collaborative process, producing a creative community that enriches the community at large. We are young people who have been inspired by our own experiences with classical theater, and would cherish the opportunity to inspire a future generation of theatergoers.

This summer we present «The Comedy of Errors,» «Romeo and Juliet,» and «A Midsummer Night’s Dream». MaineStage also features two educational programs for local and visiting youth ages 5 – 17. Check out our website for details and showtimes!
