The Lodge At Kennebunk

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to stay at the Lodge due to an emergency… but Charles was VERY nice and helpful and let me cancel my reservation without the $ 130 fee. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Clean rooms but very rude workers. We were overcharged and the process to have it fixed was entirely unpleasant. Multiple employees could take a lesson in hospitality and basic manners. Also our tub did not drain.

The reason I’m giving the Lodge four stars is because I’m reviewing it as a motel so please don’t read the four stars as an indication that this place is luxurious. It is a really good motel and a great value for travelers on a budget, but it’s not anything like a luxurious hotel.
We recently went to Kennebunkport for a wedding and made our travel arrangements at this last minute. The cheapest place we could find that looked pretty decent from Unilocal reviews was the Lodge at Kennebunk. There are a ton of motels with the word «Lodge» in the name, this review is for the one at 95 Alewive Road.
We didn’t expect much and was pleasantly surprised to find the hotel room extremely clean — the carpet and finishings were cheap (plastic sink, berber carpet), but everything looked very new and was cleaned very well. The maids were there every day at noon on the dot.
Service was very helpful and friendly. The owner is a really nice guy & the other folks managing the desk were really nice too.
Some nice benefits are a continental breakfast in the morning, onsite bike rentals for $ 10/​day and there is a cool easy path not too far away (the bikes are not very good, but hey it’s $ 10). Helmets are available as well for the safety conscious.
Guests are given a beach parking pass for the beaches in Kennebunkport.
Outside there is a game room, a small pool, and a picnic area with several gas grills and picnic tables. There is a Hannaford grocery store not too far away where you can buy some good stuff to grill.
Each room has a full sized fridge, microwave, and kitchen sink. There is no separate sink in the bathroom so the kitchenette has a medicine cabinet, which is awkward, but we were fine with it.
The room was enormous which made it very comfortable to eat and hang out in. There is free wi-​fi, cable TV with 100+ channels, and an ipod dock/​clock radio. We enjoyed hanging out in our room during the evenings.
My only complaints are that there is very little light in the room and the walls are pretty thin. Otherwise, I found this place a great value if you want to visit Kennebunkport on the cheap.

Reasonable, honest roadside place to sleep. I wouldn’t think of it as a resort, but they sure do try. Hardwood floors, pool, BBQ AND a FREE breakfast… Good place to stay with a family if exploring the area.
The owner is a nice older gentleman who spent an inordinate amount of time explaining the TV remote to me. Also explained the use of the room phone to me in detail. I couldn’t bear to tell him that I hadn’t used a landline in years.
This place is definitely not a corporate clone roadside motel. Just an honest guy from an era gone by trying to make it.

I grew up in Southern Maine, and just recently discovered The Lodge at Kennebunk during my holiday stay. The hotel is located next to the off/​on ramp of I-​95 for Exit 25 — Kennebunk, and convenient to Rt. 1, Rt. 99, 35 and downtown Kennebunk. While the hotel is located closely to the highway, it is peaceful and quiet.
The front desk was very helpful, and check-​in was a breeze. I had my keys and was ready to go within 5 – 10 minutes. There were no issues pulling up my reservation or gaining access to my room. He informed of us the breakfast and controlling the heat in the room. The hotel does have Free Wi-​Fi just not secure, and approximately 155 cable channels with a DVD-​player (perfect for kids and inclement weather!)
The rooms are spacious, and there is also a kitchenette with a full sized fridge. No sink in the bathroom and limited trash bins located in the room. There is a full closet to the left of the kitchen. I enjoyed this because I would rather have the leg room to walk around and sit than be overloaded with dressers.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you have a tight budget, and want to spend more time outside of your room exploring Maine.

I’m a total hotel snob and the rooms are entirely adequate for the price you pay. Make no mistake, this is a budget motel. I booked 3 nights online a month in advance and requested a room away from the office traffic. Our price came to $ 157+ tax. This helped even out our trip budget tremendously due to my requirements of staying at a four-​diamond rated B&B in Camden.
Check-​in was simple and speedy. We received what we asked for and stayed in a room located in the adjacent building from the office. I usually have some kind of fight to pick with the bed quality at hotels, but their Queens were decent enough. It wasn’t advertised, but a small kitchenette was included in our standard 2 queen bed room, and contained a sink, stove-​top, basic cutlery and pots. Parking was always available right in front of our room.
Housekeeping came daily! Didn’t expect this perk for the price we paid. We had no qualms with highway noise.
We did not try the breakfast during our stay. Actually we forgot all about it.
Some peeves: The carpet did creep me out a bit, but nothing flip flops couldn’t handle. In the bathroom the traction mat located in the shower was really gross looking. It was stained with mildew, and we took it out of the tub and set it aside during our stay. There was not a sink in the bathroom for this room. It felt out of place to brush our teeth in the kitchen area. The only garbage cans available were tiny ones located in the bedroom and bathroom. A larger one for kitchen waste would be appreciated in the kitchen.
I would stay here again, but probably not for so long. That’s not a fault of the establishment, more-​so of my itinerary.

We stayed at The Lodge at Kennebunk on our first trip to Maine. I waited until about 10 days before to make reservations, so many things were booked. It was also a holiday weekend. I wanted to stay in the Kennebunk/​port area. Due to my lack of familiarity with Maine, I didn’t realize I had alot of other options.
It was your basic motor lodge. The rooms were a bit run down. While many rooms had hardwood floors, our room was carpeted and there were several stains on the carpet. The air conditioning unit must have been at least 25 years old, but at least it worked. There definitely isn’t anything luxurious about the place. However, we were perfectly comfortable. It is very quiet and we slept well.
The best thing about the place was the very friendly and helpful staff. When we arrived, the front desk attendant explained the area to us, gave us recommendations and circled some highlights on a map. It was a great welcome to Maine!
Additionally, they have a continental breakfast every morning, which is always nice. They have a heated pool and a nice picnic area with grills.
I probably would not stay here again, because there are so many cute hotels and inn along the Maine coast. Next time I will not wait so long to get reservations and I might put a little more money into it. But it is a comfortable and decent place to stay if you are looking to save some money or need something in a pinch.

Do not stay here. It looks so much nicer on the internet. Went over the summer, had reservations for 3 or 4 nights. Got to my room and it there were many large ants crawling across the floor. I saw at least 8 – 10. When I went to the front desk to complain, they gave me a spray can to spray my room. After I sprayed my room, I decided that I did not want to sleep w/​the smell of bug spray. So, I complained again. They did give me a different room, right next to the one w/​the bugs.
Also, it is right near a highway, very noisy.
I didn’t end up staying at all. Found another place to stay. The front desk knew that I left. And, they still charged my card for that night! Despite the problems. I understand, they are a business. But, I would not recommend this place and wished there would have been a Unilocal review before I went.
Do not stay there.
